Hvac Repair reviews in Dobbs Ferry

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • I am extremely happy with their work, always have been. They are my go to plumbing people. They come out on a regular basis when I have a plumbing problem. I have a maintenance contract with them. I have complete trust with them. It's been a long term relationship, probably 16 years. The fact that I've used them for 16 years should speak for itself.

  • The person they sent out a few days later insisted my problem was due to the condenser being dirty. I explained the history and objected, but went along with the tech and let him wash the condenser with a chemical solution. He was a bit condescending suggesting I had been negligent in maintaining the equipment and there was years of debris in the condenser coils- In fact I had his company perform the same service 10 months earlier when they were out for the same issue the previous summer. After cleaning the coils he checked the system and insisted the pressures were correct - and left for his next appointment. We shut the unit off but a few days later when we needed the AC we had the same problem. When I called to have someone come back I was told they were booked the rest of the week but they would get back to me when they set the schedule for the next week with a time. I called 8 days later and was told that they were very busy and it would be a 5 week wait. That should have been my queue to find someone else. Four weeks later they called and told me I could either accept an appointment the very next day (which I couldn't make) or I would have to wait another week (which would have made 7 weeks after the initial call). I let my frustration get the better of me and the conversation went downhill quickly from there - we ended up parting ways. Aftermath: I had another company come out a few days later that had been highly recommended. They checked all the lines with two different electronic leak detectors and found that the system was leaking from the service ports. They told me the valves had been overtightened and crushed, and that given the problems I was having, the service port caps should have been replaced with ones that included rubber seals. They also confirmed my original thoughts that while the condenser being dirty would force the compressor to work harder, it would not have created the symptoms I was experiencing- something I verified elsewhere. My Conclusion: These guys are ok as installers, and have proven to me they can handle obvious problems like a blown out controller board or a burnt out fan motor, but they failed to demonstrate that they have the skills to troubleshoot problems that are less than obvious. In the past they had been responsive, but the fact that they expected me to think it was OK to wait almost two months for a follow up service call because they were "busy" suggests they are either arrogant beyond all reason or simply don't have access to individuals with the experience, tools and expertise necessary to support more complex issues with the systems they install.

  • They spent over an hour with two different detectors trying to find a leak. Diagnosis was that the leak was from the charging ports. They attempted to replace the valves but apparently the previous contractor had overtightented them making it impossible to remove without releasing the remaining refrigerant. They also found that the previous contractor had used cheap covers on the charging ports which did not have rubber seals (allowing refrigerant to leak over time). Recharged with 2 pounds of refrigerant and has been fine since.

  • Very well. The guys from Clover were great. They identified many problems in my home that were costing me money in heating bills and greatly reducing energy efficiency. I have seen a big improvement in my energy bills as a result of this project.

  • I would use them again. I thought the repairman was very professional. He gave me excellent information because I am new home owner so he showed me different my gas and all of that stuff which really wasn't part of the service call.

  • Mr. Brady was very knowledgeable about the system. He also educated us on rebates for system that other contractors didn't even know about. His pricing was more then reasonable and his crew did a nice neat job in a timely matter. He even followed up with us a year later to see how the system was doing . I highly recommend Air Comfor Inc.

  • Our experience with them was pretty good. They guy was a little sharper. I thought the price was a reasonable deal. You get a guy to come out, service the thing, and give you some Freon so it worked out okay. The quality of service was pretty good. They came in a hurry which was good because it was crazy hot.

  • Everything was fine. If you have a bigger house, it is a little tricky. The Deal is for only one system and we have two, but it worked out okay. The guy that came was super and did a great job. He got the air conditioning back to where it needed to be. It was like 3,000 degrees. There were additional charges to the $175 Big Deal because we had him do some extra stuff, but it was alright. It was true to what they said. I was a repeat customer.

  • We got quotes from at least five different HVAC contractors. Jim from AMX impressed us above all the others as honest, no-nonsense, very knowledgeable and thoroughly professional. The work was done on time, on budget and without any problems.

  • Rolando, who works for the owner, arrived on time.  He determined the cause of  loss of heat in one of my 2 zones.  He was exceptionally polite and respectful.  He did not suggest any expensive work needed to be done.  He bled the air out of the system for the zone that wasn't working and he was done within one half hour..  Although I also have a leaky overflow valve on my furnace, he thought that it may be solved by the work he performed. He saw that the valve was replaced previously and did not recommend replacing it again unless I notice it is still leaking water.  It still leaks but it's such a slow leak, that I'll call back and make a future appointment..  The cost was reasonable and I will use them again.
    Thank you Billy and Rolando!
