    The Junk King's crew was fantastic. They handled difficult circumstances professionally and with a good attitude. We had a large amount of very old household items (windows, screens, shutters, etc) that was left in the attic and basement that needed to be removed. Jean was very responsive and called while the crew was there to make sure I was satisfied with how it was going. The crew was very friendly and accomodating. We filled a truck on their first visit, but still had more items to go. They made a second trip a week or so later. It was a relief to deal with them and have everything taken care of. I would definitely recommend them.

    Here is the letter I sent to the owner of College Hunks:
    I used your company?s services yesterday in my capacity as a professional organizer and member of the National Association of Professional Organizers and have never had a scarier experience. My experience was as follows: I purchased a coupon on Angie?s List for $99 for a 1/8 truckload pick-up that was scheduled for July 9 between 11:00AM -1:00PM at my client?s home in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. I called CHHJ at 11:30AM to see if I could get an idea of where on the schedule for the drivers we were so I could be completely prepared for their arrival. The woman on the phone said she would try to find out and call me back. 20 minutes later I called again and was told that if I didn?t hear from the driver by 12:30PM, they could try to track him down. At 12:20PM the driver called to say he was just leaving Bowling Green, which is more than a 30-minute
    drive with no traffic, but this involved driving through Manhattan, so we knew they would not arrive before 1:00PM, as scheduled. I called the driver back at 1:10PM to get an update and he said they were at 77th and 1st Ave...still at least 30-minutes. My client had to change an appointment twice at this point because I told him we would be done before 2:00PM. I estimated the entire job at 2 hours. The truck arrived at 2:10PM. The driver mumbled an apology for being late and someone scheduling their route so badly. I told him I had an Angie?s list coupon. He then eyeballed the load and said it was 3/8ths of a truck load. I told him I didn?t have any extra budget beyond the coupon. I have worked with CHHJ before and had a similar load picked up for the price of the 1/8th load.  I called and asked to speak with the owner of the franchise. I asked him if he could consider working something out with me since I now was losing money on the job because the truck arrived so late and he said no, he doesn?t make any money on the Angie?s list coupons. He was raising his voice and I asked him 3 times to stop yelling at me. I also asked the driver to please not discuss this in front of my client but he was shouting into his phone when he called the owner to tell him that I wasn?t agreeing to his assessment of the size of the load. I told the owner I would agree to pay $200 for the job. I understood this to include the $99 I already spent on the coupon. Once they started loading the truck, the client and I pulled out at least a third of the pile and I dragged it down to his recycling pick-up so it didn?t go on the truck. At this point, we spent 20 minutes coming to an agreement and it took about 5 minutes to load the truck. When the driver wrote up the receipt, he said that $200 was due. I reminded him of the coupon and he said that this was in addition to the coupon. I stated that I did not agree to that so he called his boss again and put me on the phone with him. He said that he meant an additional $200 and I said I didn?t have the money for that and I was already losing money on this job because they were so late. He started yelling at me again and I asked if they were now going to take everything out of the truck and leave it in the driveway. He said that was up to me. Since it wasn?t an option and my client had to leave, I said fine and hung up. I gently tossed the phone a few inches to give it back to the driver and he said ?don?t throw my phone! do you want me throwing your things?? at which point he threw my credit card on the porch and loudly under his breath said ?don?t be throwing my things, B****.? I said what did you say and he wouldn?t repeat it. When I mentioned to the driver that the coupon included sweeping out the garage he said they only sweep up any mess they make. He said ?I apologized for being late already.? I wrote on the receipt that I did not agree that the job was completed to my satisfaction and the driver said ?f*** you.? I said what did you say? And he said ?you heard me, f*** you,? and then got in the truck. Fortunately, my client was inside and did not hear any of this from the company that I recommended.   
    This is unacceptable. I realize that sometimes things don?t go according to schedule but it is not okay to verbally assault people. I felt completely threatened by the driver and the owner of the franchise. Your motto is ?stress-free guaranteed.? I expect a full refund of the $300 that this job cost me and an apology from your company.

    My name is Mike Gargiulo and I am the Franchise Support Specialist here at College Hunks. We recently received your letter regarding your recent experience with the Westchester, NY branch.  
    First we would like to sincerely apologize for dissatisfaction you have expressed in reference to the service you received. We pride ourselves on living and illustrating our core values with all our locations all over the country, although they are obviously independently owned and operated. We have sustained a reputation of exceeding expectations and have been lauded for doing so across our entire system. We have spoken with the local franchisee in Westchester in order to collect information from their perspective regarding the incident as well.  
    After carefully examining the information provided (which can be definitively determined, as services were rendered after all) we certainly believe that you should not have been addressed in the way described by your letter. Again, though our locations are independently owned and operated, there are certain exceptions that are made at the corporate level if we feel our brand and values are not being represented in a way we find acceptable. 
    In light of this decision we are prepared to offer you a $50 College Hunks gift card to use with your next service. We strive to make a life-long customers at every turn, especially when presented with situations like this.
    If this resolution is acceptable please let us know as soon as possible. We truly look forward to another opportunity to transcend your previous experience.

    My response:
    Dear Mr. Gargiulo,
    This is not at all an acceptable solution and thinking that I would be happy with a gift certificate is insulting. I would not consider using your services again without first receiving a refund for the money as good faith for the money I lost because of the events of the day, and possible loss of a client. There is NEVER an acceptable time to call your client a b**** and tell her to f*** off. Your company motto states a ?stress-free guaranteed? experience. This is far from the case. If you are truly striving to make a life-long customer, I expect you will find a way to refund my losses.

    We are truly sorry to hear you do not find our offer satisfactory. We sincerely appreciate your position and wish to continue to serve you as a loyal client. At this time we will still mail a $50 Visa gift card to the address you provided despite this last message in an effort to illustrate our commitment to world class service.
    At this time the decision is final and you may direct all further correspondence to the local franchise directly.  
    We look forward to the opportunity to work with you again. Have a great day!

    Yesterday, I received an email saying that per our previous conversation, enclosed was a $50 gift card but I did not agree to this.
    I'm frustrated, flummoxed, furious, etc.  just got this response:

    Hi [Member name removed],
    The previous conversation to which we are referring is this string of email correspondence.  
    As noted in the aforementioned email, from this point forward you may direct all correspondence to the local franchise directly as we have exhausted our involvement at this time.
