    Maria's is awesome!  They are the best tailor and most affordable one that I have been to in the capital district.  My suite sleeves were perfect!   Even though I live in Delmar, I will travel to Maria's for any future alteration needs.  For example, Maria's charged $10 to shorten both pant legs.  Best Cleaners charged $25 to fix a hem (not shorten - just fix an existing hem that had come undone)  on one pant leg.

    I showed up for my appointment but found the salon's environment so unacceptable that I cancelled and left.
    To begin with, when I first arrived I saw several salon employees sitting on the curb in front of the salon, smoking. This struck me as rather unprofessional but I continued on into the salon. The first thing that hit me was the noise. This salon was extremely, and I do mean extremely, noisy, more like a factory floor than a hair salon. This is a huge design flaw: high ceilings, hard surfaces, nothing to abate the noise of blow dryers and numerous conversations (several stylists were working very close to the reception area). And this is supposed to be a spa??? I don't know how anyone could work there, much less spend an hour or more as a customer. A sign over a doorway invites the customer to relax and dream, but I do not think anyone could relax in that atmosphere. An older gentleman, no doubt waiting for his wife, was asleep in the waiting room--I can only wonder how he managed that.
    The reception area is poorly designed for traffic flow. Customers who had either finished or just arrived were milling around, seemingly without any sense of where to leave a tip or approach the reception desk. The placement of entrance, reception desk, and waiting area is very poor.
    The changing room is not well situated for customer privacy and has swinging doors rather than a door that actually closes.
    There weren't enough seats in the very cramped waiting area, and no clean robes in the changing room, although the front desk person, who was very nice, did bring some out from the laundry when she realized that.
    I didn't see the rest of the salon but the waiting and reception areas, which are the first things a customer sees, were a disaster. And the NOISE is horrible. I'll not be returning.

    Primarily, they service women but they also do men, they do me and also my wife goes there. I get haircuts and other grooming services in general, because I have a beard and facial hair. My wife sometimes get her hair colored. We use one person in particular there and her name is Irish Miller. It costs $40 for me, for women a little more. Everybody is very friendly, Irish is particularly friendly, I've known her and I have my hair done by Irish for years. She knows more about my family than I do sometimes, she remembers everything. She never complained when I'm late and she's also pleasantly surprised when I'm on time.

    They do whatever you ask them to do.  I have been going there for about eight to ten years.  The people there know what they are doing.  Their environment is clean and inviting.  They have a friendly receptionist and staff.  They provide other service like massage and they sell products.

    They are very professional, friendly, and it is a pleasant and comfortable place. They get you right in at the time you say you are going to get in. They listens to want you want and they do follow directions well. They are caring and concerned about your happiness. I would use them again.

    As mentioned in another review, this is a no-frills shop, but it is clean, and they do good work. I've paid twice as much for a cut at a near-by upscale barber shop, but Joe's cuts are equal in quality, and he is friendlier than the upscale barbers. He opens at 7 am Tues-Saturday, so it is easy to get in and get out, especially in the earlier hours.

    My mother went for a facial that she simply adores and gets a gift certificate for every year. First off the building is a gorgeous mansion like establishment that just screams beauty from the outside. then when you go in you are always greeted by the sweet, professional, friendly and informative staff at the large check in/out counter. once you are signed in to your appointment you can peruse their gift and products area or have a seat in the cozy lounge area with a nicely designed and decorated coffee and water bar which also offers fresh baked cookies. once called for your appointment which is usually right on schedule, the pampering begins. depending on your treatment of choice (manicure, pedicure, facial, waxing, make up, hair, massage etc, etc.) you are brought to one of their many beautifully designed and luxuriously relaxing rooms where you will receive everything that was described in your chosen service and some- such as taking home samples of the lavish products used during your appointment and tips and tricks from the professional and extensively trained staff. I have never left there feeling anything less than rejuvenated, refreshed and perfectly pampered- almost like royalty.

    I am so upset that they completely lost my wedding gown and never replaced it or found it. They would not take responsibility for the mistake and the owner was less than pleasant to deal with. It took me 4 months to get them to realize that it was lost as they continued to tell me to wait one more week. I was eventually compensated very poorly, by the company that this shop contracted to do the work. My entire experience with these people was horrible and I would not recommend using them to anyone. I wasn't even reimbursed the $250 dollars that I paid them.

    The shirt was returned with stains and glue worn through the seams. The owner told me that this was a flaw with the shirt, but I had taken it there at least ten times before without any problem. He offered to try to clean it more thoroughly by hand, but that did not work. He has still not called me back, and has offered no other assistance. He was aggressive on the phone but not in person.

    Lost dress and had to be sued before they would claim ANY responsibility. The owner of the store was VERY uncooperative and would not even refund the money that was paid for the cleaning until he was reported to BBB. He was constantly combatative, verbally abusive, and ignorant.
