    Why an F? F for Failed communication; I spent more than 5K at that store and the sales guy would not talk to me after the sale was completed?  I tried 3 times to get an additional quote for a fireplace hood and DID NOT GET IT. Beware!.  I wanted a hood because he overestimated the power of my unit and advised that using it full power would burn my house down. Great! I bought a BMW but should use it as beetle (bVW). Even with an adapter that was provided I felt the need for a hood because of the excessive heat above the fireplace. Just wanted peace of mind. As mentioned, they installed an adaptor to reduce the gas flow. First call, he told me he would use my wife`s email (on file) to send the information; Second call, I left my number with the secretary and he did not call me back. No information or quote received. Third call, again I was informed the sales guy was busy. I demanded for attention. I said? I spent a lot of money with Matchless and I need attention?. A lady told me he would send the information that afternoon. I am still waiting. Now it is too late, I do not want to talk to them anymore. Now I am interested in understanding why Matchless does not want to talk me. Is there a problem with the project/equipment that was sold to me? I will find out, not happy now.

    Before starting, Doug explained his recommendations and an estimated price.  They did the work efficiently but took time to double-check and triple-check.  Doug noticed that we had no CO2 monitor in the cellar, so he bought and installed one.  The bill was slightly lower than the estimate.

    After a few weeks, the unit stopped working so I called Matchless and, after trying a couple things they suggested that didn't work, they agreed to send a technician to check the unit. I had to wait a couple weeks for the technician but once he came, the fix was minor and everything's worked fine since then.

    I found this provider here on the List, and called them. I set up an estimate time, and they came and looked at the job . The estimate was emailed to me after we talked on the phone. Both my wife and I work, so it was convenient to do everything by email. Tom showed up on the scheduled day, and did a fine job. I can be picky, but the work, and the cleanup were just fine. I not hesitate to call Tom again for a chimney repair.

    This happened before I was a member of Angie?s List. I hired Bethlehem Home Repair (owned by Dave Palmer) after checking BBB. He had an A+ reputation on BBB, so I felt some comfort that he was a reputable contractor. The scope of my project was some minor interior alterations and windows replacement. The interiors portion of the project was completed without incident. The  BHR placed an order for my windows, with my material deposit. BHR informed me of the expected date of delivery for the windows, and work stopped until the windows arrived.  

    When the day of the anticipated window arrival came, I contacted BHR to see if they had indeed arrived and when BHR could start installation. Dave Palmer had informed me that he was going to have some medical procedures done but that he should be out of commission for no longer than a weekend or so. Unfortunately, this was not the case and he was in fact out of commission for many weeks. BHR did not have any back up mechanism in place to communicate with me during his absence. My numerous phone calls and e-mails went unreturned, and I was left to wonder what had happened, and whether my material deposit was in jeopardy. 

    Finally, Dave Palmer called me again and informed me that he had been out much longer than he anticipated because of some unexpected medical complications, and that he was now ready to resume work again. The window installation was completed without further incident and I paid BHR in full for services rendered.  

    In conclusion, BHR showed poor communications skills during my project. I don?t fault Dave for being out of commission for medical reasons. However, BHR did not have a lieutenant or anyone else who kept me up to date on the status of my project or continue the work in Dave?s absence. They were reliant entirely on the initiative of Dave Palmer to show up and execute the work. When anything kept Dave Palmer from doing his job, his clients suffered as a result.
