    SIENA FENCE CO., INC
Siena installed fence 10 years ago. This is second time I tried to get them to come and repair the gates. The first time they promised to stop by when in the area - never showed up. This time they didn't respond to inquiry via Angie's list or separate email.

We had worked with Tim at other homes we have owned in the area.  He has always promptly returned our calls; made time in his day to stop in to look at what we need done, and schedules us as soon as he can fit us in.  This particular job called for the removal of some chainlink fence/gate and installing wood fencing and gate.  There were several large tree roots which needed to be considered in the layout, and it looks great!  The install was completed timely and professionally.

Siena fence came on the agreed upon date, nice and early,  and got right to work.  We had just moved in and our neighbor asked that if we wanted to hook onto his fence, that his fence line be moved over to the property line (their fence had been installed a few feet inside their property line.)  Rather than having to put in a whole separate line of fence, Siena happily agreed to move his fence over - and it was significantly less money than a whole new section of fence!  The Siena folks worked non stop on that hot day, navigating several trees and slopes and did an outstanding job!  I thought this would take at least two days and they were out of our yard before business ended that day.  I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone - super easy to work with (my husband was out there talking, navigating, etc) and did an outstanding job.  When finished, not only did they do a final walk around to ensure each cap was on and painted the correct color, they cleaned up so well we barely knew they were there.  Great folks to work with!

They kept us informed of when they would install the fence and did an excellent job. Their office was very easy to
work with and provided the answers to all our questions. Would use them again.

I'm sure they would have provided the necessary materials and services. The main reason we did
not select them (and they were the lowest quote) was bec we had to call them for the quote.

Tim is very responsive when I call for fencing needs. This is the third fence I've had him work on ( different houses.) He listens to what my ideas are, adds his own, based on his experience with installs and/or the product he will be working with, and we come up with a plan. He starts work on the day he says he will, and completes it when he says he will. Sometimes there is need for an adjustment due to the weather, the wood, the ground, or whatever, and he comes back and makes the adjustment free of charge.

    Fenceworks
Bob from Fenceworks came out to do an estimate, and was friendly and thorough. We received an emailed estimate the following day. As they had good reviews here, were cheaper than another commpany we spoke with, and had an Angies List coupon, we decided to go with them. I sent the deposit in and waited to hear back for an approximate start date. About a week later I still had not heard, so I emailed them. I received a response back giving me a tentative install date of about a month later. A couple weeks before the install date I received a call from Fenceworks verifying part of my order. I did not hear from them again until the date they had given me as the tentative install date. Bob had called that morning to say they had been delayed by weather and wouldn't be there until the following day. The delay was understandable, however as the date I was given was tentative, I had no idea they had planned on definitely coming by that day if not for the weather; I was not given any sort of confirmation on the date beforehand. Bob had also asked that someone be present when the workers showed up so that the job could be explained to them. I happened to be working evenings that week so it was no issue, but if I were on a day shift I would have had to take vacation time. I felt like we had explained the (fairly straightforward) job well enough at the time of estimate, so it shouldn't have had to be explained again. Now here's where the story gets interesting; I came home from work that evening to find a notice on the door from the Town of Bethlehem that they had received a dig ticket for the fence, and that I needed a permit to have one installed. Being a fairly new homeowner, I was not aware of this requirement. In looking at the estimate again, there was mention of obtaining a permit in fine print. However, not once, during the estimate, or scheduling the work, or the phone call verifying my order, did they mention the possibility of needing to obtain a permit. I then had to leave a message to delay the work, and run around like a madwoman the next day trying to get the permit taken care of. The town claimed they did not have a copy of Fenceworks' insurance on file, so I called to ask for one to be faxed. The woman on the phone proceeded to insist they had one on file, and seemed irritated about having to fax one over. They must have eventually received it, as I got the ok to proceed a couple days later. The work was scheduled for the following week. However, I was now away on business and my partner had to take time off work to meet with the workers and explain the job, which was removal of existing chain link and partial replacement with PVC picket. (The previous homeowners had a dog, which is why they had the back yard enclosed. We more or less wanted something decorative to separate our rear yard from the street, as we are on a corner lot. We aren't so much worried about closing our yard off from the neighbors.) When she returned home that evening the new fence looked fine, however they left the rest of the chain link where we did not have new fencing installed. When Fenceworks was called the following day about this, their response was that they usually only remove the fence that is being replaced. We had clearly explained, at least twice, that ALL the chain link was to be removed. They did come out that same day to complete the job. My partner says the fence looks great, but I still have not returned home to inspect the work myself. Even so, I feel like they could have been a bit better on the communication end of things. Perhaps it's common sense to most, but it would have been nothing for them to have mentioned possibly needing a permit to have the work done. When I went to obtain the permit, the inspector told me he visited three other homes that day who had already had the work done, so I'm obviously not the only one.

    Fenceworks
Excellent experience. Responsive in all areas. We got 2 estimates (after we got blown off by another company you also have rated as A), fairly similar. We chose Fenceworks because they focus on residential only jobs & because we liked the owner. They scheduled us promptly, arrived on time both days for work. We needed some trees removed before they could begin, & that was a problem but really not theirs. Left the property in fine condition.

    BACKYARD FENCE
They came to give the estimate, amazingly, had investigated new the local codes before they came, walked the property and gave suggestions to improve on our design, drew out the design with measurements, and provided an estimate on the spot with a drawing that I could take to the local zoning board to get the fence approved (they also had all their paperwork and documentation on file with the local town hall so that the approval process went very smoothly). Within a week of paying the deposit, they come out and installed the fence in two days. It was >550 lineal feet with some six foot sections, two gates, and a removable section. They were also kind enough to make some running changes that involved undoing some of their previous day's work at no extra charge. They were prompt, fast, responsive, friendly, they cleaned up well, and the fence looks amazing.

    CHAIN LINK FENCE CONNECTION
The installation was done sooner than promised and was excellent. When an unexpected problem was found with the terrain, the workers offered two solutions and carried out the one I preferred. Two other contractors whom we had asked for estimates (not from Angie's List) failed to respond at all, so I can't compare estimates, but this estimate seems fair. We're pleased.
