It looked great, and the construction quality seemed excellent. About 8 years later, our dog was tied up to a post supporting the roof over the steps and jumped at a passerby. He completely pulled the post out of the ground. The two front posts had been placed on concrete footer that were below grade, and the post had rotted. Brian has been too busy to be able to accept the job to replace the two posts that are rotted out, or to even stop by to see the problem.

I have used a lot of contractors over the years but these guys are by far, the best. High quality workmanship, willing to work with me closely, answered all my questions, dealt professionally with change orders. I am so confident in them, I am able to head to work each day knowing all will be well. I highly recommend this company. The prices are slightly higher but the quality shows. They do what they say they will do with no corners cut. Thanks guys!!!!

Tim and his crew showed up on the day he committed to, and started work right away. Our roof was never properly ventilated and all of the wood had to be replaced when they ripped the old roof off. Tim was on site every day, supervising his crew and doing a lot of the carpentry work himself. Everyone was polite and answered all of my questions. When I noticed some things that needed to be fixed, many times they were fixed before I even had a chance to point them out to Tim. If his crew accidentally damaged anything, he offered to pay for the damage or he fixed it himself. He has a great attention to detail and reviewed all of the work that his crew did. I will definitely hire him again in the future and highly recommend his work.

Bill showed up when he said he would. He was professional and worked hard.
The brick he selected was a great match to the front of the house and the bluestone is beautiful. The new porch adds elegance to the house!
I would use Bill again and recommend him enthusiastically.

Our stoop was in sad condition.  The 4 steps tilted in, had odd and unequal step heights, and were very old.  The stoop top was deteriorating.  Bill removed the 4 old steps and rebuilt with 5 steps to make it safe and equalize the step heights.  He found blue stone that was a great match.  The stoop top needed new stone so he took out and replaced the top with high-quality, matching blue stone.  He also re-pointed the whole stoop.
Of the 5 Masons I called, Bill was one of two to follow through with a bid.  Bill came when he said he would and worked weekends to get the job done.  Bill is very nice especially dealing with my young children who loved to watch him work.  Bill was a pleasure to work with and we are glad to support his Veteran-owned business.

They started when they said they would and total project was finished in the prescribed time. They worked consistently and the workers were very careful, pleasant people. They responded to our questions and suggestions. The day to day workers were thoughtful and anticipated our future plans with the patio at the end of the deck. They cleaned up at the end of each day.
John Walston was very helpful and cooperative during the process especially with making changes.
Excellent work, excellent job, excellent people!

Everything went great.  We had several estimates performed in July 2014 in connection with the painting of the exterior of our home.   Robert White provided us with a free estimate and a detailed written proposal.  We hired Mr. White based on the cost relative to the work proposed as well as the level of professionalism exhibited by him during our first meeting.  He gave us an estimated start date of Mid-October 2014.  He kept in touch with me throughout the summer, and, due to better than expected weather, was able to move our start date to the end of September.  The job took exactly as long as he said it would.  He and his employees arrived on time, and were polite and lovely to deal with.  Our house looks great and we could not be more pleased with the results.  We would absolutely hire him again and would recommend him without reservation.

I took a day off off from work to meet with Boone. When he didn't show up at the appointed time (9:00), I was concerned because of recent poor reviews on this company and decided to call Angie's List to learn my options. I decided to wait a while to see if Boone show up, instead of cancelling, since I had already taken the time off.

He finally showed up later that morning for the deck washing and to scope out the deck staining job. He informed me that while the Deal and the coupon did not contain this note or disclaimer, the rails and posts were not included and would cost me an additional $150.00. I agreed to that, and an additional $100 for decking beyond the square footage allowed by the deal. Also, he offered to help me with another job that needed doing, securing some lattice work under my deck for another $100, the total being $350 beyond the Deal price of $199. He washed the deck. He told me I'd need to purchase 7 gallons of stain. He agreed to return two days later, weather permitting, to do the staining and additional work.

Two days later, I took another day off from work to be at my home while the work was being done. The weather was perfect for the job- temps in the 60s and sunny skies. I bought $300 worth of deck stain at my local paint store at 7:00 AM.

When Boone did not arrive by 8:30, I started calling the one working number I had for him. (He had previously informed me that he had to cancel his business phone, and he also had closed out his business checking account.) My calls went to voice mail-- something that other recent Angie's List posters had mentioned.

On my third or fourth call, at 10:30 am, his wife picked up. I told her that I had expected Dan and his crew here earlier, and she offered to contact him to find our when he'd arrive, and said she would call me right back. I waited 30 minutes and then called her 3 more times over the next hour. On my 3rd call, I told her that I was cancelling the job.

Then I called Angie's List to report the no show and to inquire about my options.

Then, after 2:00 PM, he showed up at my door. I told him I'd cancelled at 11:00 when he was a no-show. He said, "You know, I've been trying to get a hold of my wife too, but she won't call me." I told him that was no way to run a business and I that I was done. He mumbled something about Angie's List owing him money as I closed my door.

I think that Dan Boone knows painting and probably can even do decent work but perhaps he has personal problems that interfere with his ability to function professionally. I hope that Angie's List does a better job of screening the companies they use for The Big Deal. This is why I joined Angie's List- to do the screening for me.

While I was told by Angie's List that they will give me a credit for the Big Deal, I'm now I'm stuck with a $300 worth of deck stain and it's getting too late in our northeast Fall to schedule someone else to do the job. Very, very disappointing.

I give Boone Painting an F, and given the number of serious issues that others have been reporting and continue to report on this Big Deal and on other work by this contractor, I hope that Angie's List will help members seek fair resolutions.

Carmen arrived in a timely manner and set to work immediately replacing  the faucet and drain.  He quickly removed the old plumbing and installed the new faucet, but there was a problem with the drain that came with the faucet not fitting the sink.  This issue was quickly resolved and the faucet and drain now work great.
Next he wired the outside electric receptacle, crawling under the porch to drill access holes.  Everything went fine until he found the receptacle box we were connecting to was too small for the new wires.  Carmen was able to solve the problem with an extension box and now I have electricity on my back porch.
The porch railing repair and installation of the freeze-proof faucets went off without a hitch, as did the touch-up painting on the side of our house.
Carmen performs quality work in a timely manner and is very good at problem solving when unexpected issues show up.  He is professional and knowledgeable.  He is also dependable, returning phone calls and showing up when he says he will.  C&L Handyman Services is very reliable and does an excellent job.  I would have no problem hiring them again or recommending them to anyone else.

I found Forster Construction on Angie's List after reading multiple great reviews.  I contacted Brian Forster and got a call back for an estimate date immediately.  Brian showed up for the estimate on time and provided a friendly no pressure review of my construction needs and the ins and out of what my multi-component project might entail giving excellent advice and suggestions on how to approach it.  A few days later I received an estimate which was below what many other estimates had come in at.  Brian and his associate Carl showed up promptly on time on the first day of construction and worked efficiently and diligently from the very beginning.  At the end of each day the work area was cleaned and organized and progress was quick and exciting in terms of how fast it came together.  Brain estimated that my project would take a week and he was exactly right.  They showed up every morning, on time and ready for work with with positive friendly attitudes to boot.   The first component was closing in a back door to our house and creating a new window - then building a large deck from a ground level platform deck to a full enclosed deck with handrails and lattice walls.  I asked Brian to create special side walls that would give my deck some privacy but also good airflow pass through and light.  I wasn't sure what I wanted and he constructed beautiful elegant side walls on my deck that were exactly what worked perfectly.  Each square lattice panel wall was handmade and scalloped at the top for added beauty.  The deck itself is built like a Sherman tank, strong, sturdy and solid in every aspect.  Joints are perfect and everything is seamless.  Following the exceptional deck construction, Brian put in a new french double door on a wall to our dining room that opened to our new deck that did not previously have a door.  The door was installed perfectly and, during the installation, the work area was properly tented on the interior and created little to no dust or dirt in the rest of the first floor of my house.  Brian has transformed my home with his exceptional craftsmanship!  I feel extremely lucky to have met Brian and Carl and felt extremely comfortable having them at my home for the week interacting with my kids and even tolerating my dog.   Brian is trustworthy, honest and professional in every way.   My neighbors all have commented on what an exceptional job Forster Construction provided and how much the project has added financial value to my home.  I would not hesitate to call Brian at Forster Construction for ANY future construction needs and have already recommended him to my mother who also has had an exceptional construction project completed by him.  BRAVO FORSTER CONSTRUCTION!  You're the best in town!
