AGarden State Home RemodelingWe purchased a home that was over 108 years old and needed a complete gut renovation for all 3 floors. We met with John Fiore and were very impressed with his responsiveness, flexibility, and partnership throughout this massive project. He responded to calls, email and texts within minutes, was always available and communicative through the process (which is hard to find but so valued, especially as we were living about 1.5 hours away during the renovation). John always did the right thing for the project (either proactively letting us know when changes needed to be made or absorbing costs into the project). For example, the floors got damaged during demo when combining two rooms. He just gave us new floors without asking us to pay because it was the right thing to do. Also, his team was meticulous about laying tiles, mapping out electrical, etc. If we had a problem or didn’t like something, they fixed it at no additional cost. John was so patient and calming throughout the renovation. One thing everyone warned us about was planning for the budget to double through a project this big. John’s team kept such meticulous track of the expenses (including light fixture, tiles, etc) and we actually received a credit towards our project because we stayed under budget for most of our selections. This is completely unheard of and I am so impressed with how organized their processes are. We really felt that Garden State made a big and challenging construction process as positive of an experience as possible. We hired them to do our back deck and have referred them to many of our friends and neighbors who have been blown away by the renovation of our hike. We will hire them for all future projects based on our really great experience with them!- Ishita R.

FWhen the snow/ice had melted, you could see that whatever machinery they used, dug up 1/3 of my blacktop driveway and tore out 2 of my Belgium block edging. There are chunks of asphalt piled on top of each other on the left side of my driveway. The broken up asphalt is also on my neighbor’s lawn, and my walkway from the driveway. Now I have to get an estimate on how much it will be to patch my driveway, which I’m hoping can be done. I’m hoping I do not have to have my 4 car driveway replaced.

BI opted to pay an hourly rate which ended up being more expensive than a flat rate, so beware of making this mistake. I had many small projects so that is why I chose the hourly rate. The professionals labored very hard, and worked under quite cramped and difficult conditions due to the need to empty out storage closets and remove all furnishings from the walls. I did not participate in the initial solution to mount roller doors on the storage closets and this required that another professional had to come an additional day to revise the solution. I am very pleased with the final solution for the storage closets roller doors. Keep your own log of actual hours worked to avoid any questions of billed hours and also the supplies that you purchase with your own money to avoid being billed again by contractor. This is not specific to this contractor, just good advice. I would hire again and recommend wood and cable.
