The reno included demolition, framing for new roofline and dormers, roof and gutters, siding, new master bathroom, master closet, laundry space, wood floor and stairs, doors, millwork, tiling, masonry for a chimney extension, windows, and central air system. Chris is a great guy, very easy to work with it, trustworthy, and responsive. He hires skilled subcontractors and kept the reno moving at a good pace. AUniverse Home ServicesSince this was an emergency (we were concerned that the pipe might crack with no support) we went with Universe as that was the first company we contacted. The service manager (Tommy) sent over a tech (Nick) within 2 hours. Nick proceeded to remove 20ft of old pipe and replaced with new PVC and new support straps. The job took about 5 hours including the assessment and cleanup. The service was performed very professionally. We did pay $2,700, which we feel was a quite high for 5 hours of work. But, since we didn't get competing bids we can't complain.- Richard L.

What I thought was going to be an expensive visit turned into a simple fix. They started work right away and Dave kept us informed of possible delays with furnishings due to the Pandemic. He always followed up with the cabinet and granite manufacturers and kept us informed of their progress. The crew was excellent and clean. Everyday they left all work areas clean. Ai have used Herber Plumbing for my plumbing issues since 1981. i called on a Sunday night and had someone here first thing Monday morning. Bob Herber as always was prompt and delivered as promised. The tech, Joe was professional and did a good job. i know whenever i hire them the job will be done right and they always stand behind their work. If possible they will help you solve a problem on the phone and save you the cost of a service call. Terrific well run company.

FBuyer beware!!! They charge you $249 service fee to show up after 5pm and when they arrive they tell you the tech support for your manufacturer is not available until business hours the next business day. They return the next business day to tell you the part needed is not in stock and it will take a few days to arrive. Who has 2-3 days to wait at 30-35 degrees with no heat or hot water???? I went to a local plumbing supply company and brought the required part sealed in a box from the manufacturer, but Universe refused to install. I advised I would take responsibility for the part, they still refused to install leaving me with no heat... (maybe because there is no markup available when customer supplies the part?....I offered to pay a markup just to get heat in the house, they still refused). They claimed the job would cost $1,500. The required part was $75. Check out Sullivan Plumbing and Heating in Massapequa. They did the same job with my part for 20% of the price quoted by Universe Home Services. Mr. Sullivan is an honest plumber who does great work.

FAbout 6 years ago I had Sal Manzo Plumbing install my new Navien NCB 240 combo unit. When the plumbers had the inspector come for the permit a few things were not done to code. This unit is a condensing unit which means it needs to drain into a drain pipe. The installers just made a hole and stuck the drain tube though to the outside. They also used regular pvc pipe for the exhaust which is also not to code, it should cpvc pipe. The inspector also said they used too many unions when running the gas pipe. Sal Manzo never returned to complete the job to get it to code. About 3 years later on New Years Eve I arrived home to find I no heat but I had hot water. I called Sal Manzo Plumbing and decided I would bring up why they didn't return to complete the job. The plumber came on New Years Day but didn't complete the repair, in fact after he left I had no hot water either. The problem was the 3 way valve and the plumber said the o rings were not the correct ones so they had to call Navien and have the part shipped over night. Of course overnight means they would not come back with the part for another 2 days. It was the coldest day of the year so I had to go Home Depot and purchase heaters to keep the pipes from freezing. I bought 7 of them to place all around the house. Two days later when another plumber from Sal Manzo came to finish the repair it was determined that the original plumber was not putting the pieces back in the correct order and that's why it was leaking. It was the correct o ring after all. With all that was going on I failed to mention the work that was not done to code. The final repair cost including tax was $564.85 and the 7 heaters that I purchased that I didn't need. Months later my shower knob snapped and the cartridge was stuck inside and needed to be drilled out. Once again I called Sal Manzo Plumbing and this time I would mention the work that was not done to code. The plumber came and made the repair and I told him about the work that was not finished so I could get the permit. He said he would talk to Sal. Of course Sal never called me. Now almost 3 years to the day and I'm having another problem. This time the unit was heating but it wasn't reaching the temperature that I had it set too on the thermostat and I had no hot water at all. I called a different plumber but they could not come the same day so I decided to call Sal Manzo Plumbing again. I made an appointment for later that day but soon after the office called and rescheduled for the follow day. It was snowing so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited another day. The plumber arrived first thing in the morning and because the Navien system did not have an error code he needed to call Navien Tech support. The charge just to call Navien was $199. The Navien Tech told the plumber the problem was the 3 way valve, the same part they replaced 3 years ago. The plumber told me the charge to replace the valve was $1199 plus tax plus the $199 call to Navien. 3 years ago I paid $564.85 now they want $1400 plus tax. I called the office and asked to speak to Sal. I would remind him of the work that was not completed and the thousands of dollars of business I have already given him. I wanted to know how in 3 years can the cost for the same repair more than double and another $199 for a 15 minute phone call to Navien Tech support. Since I paid for work that was not completed in the past I felt they owed me work that I already paid for and I would tell Sal I would agree to pay the same amount I paid for the same repair last time. The office called Sal and Sal called the plumber and the plumber told me "Sal said the price is not negotiable, have a nice day" and he left. I watched several videos on YouTube on how to change this part so I went to the local plumbing store and purchased the part. The part was $47 including tax and Sal Manzo wanted to charge me $1400 plus tax. Sal Manzo is a thief and he should lose his license for this. This behavior is nothing short of criminal. He is a wolf in sheep's clothing and I wouldn't recommend him to the devil. So to update you Dowling Plumbing came today and after 10 minutes diagnosed the problem to be the pump. He didn't have to call Navien and even if he did there would not have been a charge. Can you imagine paying Sal Manzo $1400+ and the 3 way valve wasn't even the problem? By the way I asked the plumber from Dowling how much would they charge to replace a 3 way valve and the price was $365. This further proves what a criminal Sal Manzo Plumbing is.

FThese people are theives!!! They quoted me over $ 1200 to replace all these parts that were "special Italian Parts" . After calling another plumber he fixed the problem, (it was a fuse) for $129.00. They also broke a piece that I now have to replace. Thankfully I found an honest plumber. It certainly is not Paul's way!!!

AAMAZING!!! I was SO IMPRESSED with Drain Rx. I woke up to a stoppage in my pipes that left me without any toilets, sinks, showers, dishwasher or washing machine. A regular plumber came to my house and told me he couldn’t fix it. I was HORRIFIED and felt at the mercy of the drain and sewer service I was about to hire. They KNEW I had no water and was desperate. I was SO LUCKY to have been connected to Drain Rx. John and Victor were at my house within the hour, and told me they wouldn’t leave until I had my facilities back. I figured I would pay an extraordinary amount of money. But I was wrong. They diagnosed the problem, then gave me several options and the prices for each. We agreed on something that worked and was comfortable for our budget. They are extremely knowledgeable, professional, courteous and honest. They did phenomenal work for a very reasonable price.
