    Norb Miller General Contractor
It all went very well. I was anxious about the work that needed to be done and his manor is kinda laid back and easy going so it made the experience much easier for me. He did exactly what he said he was going to do in the time frame he gave for the agreed upon price. I definitely recommend Norb and would use him again in a minute.

    Family Ties Contracting
We paid Matt at Family Ties Contracting over $35,000 to renovate our downstairs apartment in an agreed upon maximum of three months. The problems began early, with delays to the start of our project, but we cut him slack because one of his employees was injured in an accident. Not long after, we began getting bills for extras that 1) were already detailed in the contract and 2) were never signed off on. We were clear with Matt from the beginning that we wanted a space that was up to code, it wasn't till months later that we discovered he never even pulled a building permit - is a big "no no" where we live. Our local inspector did not seem happy about this and, in the process of inspections, we discovered other work that needed to be done to bring the apartment up to code, adding to the cost of our project. The problems continued when Matt began to refuse doing work that was clearly in the contract, from small jobs like installing the kitchen sink, to big ones like adding sheetrock to the ceiling to meet code, which was the first thing listed in our contract. The quality of the work was poor, we ended up having to hire a second electrician to install the correct type of outlet for our washer/dryer and a second plumber to fix a leaky sink which was installed. When the project was "finished" it was a mess (see pictures below). Worst of all, the project wasn't actually completed for 11 months - 8 longer than what was in our contracted, which resulted in the loss of a years worth of rental income. We were *constantly* calling them to come back and fix mistakes over this time, with varying degrees of success. To top it off, the owner apparently began spreading rumors about me and my wife because of the difficulties. I wouldn't have even bothered writing this, until I became aware of that. Overall, a totally unprofessional experience. We have spent over $52,000 so far and we are having to finish up by hiring outside contractors. We feel like we were screwed by Family Ties Contracting. It's not just the money and the poor results, but the stress and frustration made for an overall terrible experience.

    Cutting-edge Tile Installations, LLC
This last year, several big holes were made in my 110 year old home’s stone foundation by rodents displaced by the Cornell Maplewood. I spent months trying to find a stone mason to fix it with a success until finally in December I found Cutting Edge Tile. They do Stone and concrete work in addition to brick and tile and their work is excellent and professional work from first contact to billing. It was a pleasure to deal with everyone who worked for the company, including Bill, the contractor, Angela in the office and Jake, the stone mason. Jake listen to all my concerns and a very skilled job in place with difficult access. He also cleaned up All the broken stone and concrete that the rodents had broken up. I couldn’t have asked for the job to be done better. I wholeheartedly recommend them to everyone.

    Midstate Basement Authorities, Inc
Eric and crew were great to work with on a big job they just finished for us replacing the entire foundation of an old house in Ithaca. The original foundation was in danger of collapse. Working with Taitem Engineering the crew at Midstate assessed the scope of the job and designed a fixed bid job to shore up the house, replace several joists and remove the old foundation walls. Along the way the entire HVAC system had to be removed and put back and plumbing and electrical had to be changed across the basement. The house looked like it was being raised up mid job with the old foundation removed and the house safely shored up. After removing part of the old foundation walls the crew found further structural issues with the house framing. They consulted with the engineer and came up with a plan to fix the problem. It was a change in scope and design, but Eric didn't change the price of the job. They changed the footer and wall design and worked with me to get the approval to change the job. The additional shoring that was needed on the job because of the change didn't cost us anything extra and now the house is level, secure and stronger than it was before by a longshot. Plumbing, HVAC and electrical are all back in place and passed inspection. Erik even personally made sure the hot water was on and working throughout the house. The crew worked **** ** the job on time and professionally each step of the way. Eric also managed multiple subcontractors on the job and dealt with the permitting process and the City of Ithaca directly. Last day on the job they were cleaning up small specks of material that I would have missed or not really cared about. They also communicated well with the church next door to use their parking lot for access. After the job they returned the church parking lot to better than it was before by grading out some gravel others had snowplowed into a corner before Midstate's job even started. I've already recommended Midstate to friends and wouldn't hesitate to work with them again.

I can't say enough about how prompt, efficient and professional Eric, Adam and all of the team from Midstate Basement Authorities have been. When our basement flooded, I called Midstate and Eric and Adam were here the next day. I had a proposal in 2 days and they were here to do the work within a week of my signing the proposal. Following the installation of the basement system and sump, I discovered that the drainage line I had them hook the sump, outflow to was not adequate and called Eric. He was there the next day and worked out a solution that also solved my long standing problem with the water flow from our gutter downspouts. Other contractors have attempted to resolve the gutter downspout problem without success. Eric quickly designed a drainage system that will finally solve all of the drainage problems on our property. The workers from Midstate were courteous and respectful while working in our house. They kept us informed of their progress and took care to make sure that their work caused as little disruption As possible. The quality of the work that they performed is excellent. We would not hesitate at all to use them again and recommend them highly. They are not only very professional, they also provide exceptional customer service.

I can't say enough positive things about the job that Midstate did for us. We are in the process of selling our house, so it was crucial that we had the issues with our foundation parge coat addressed quickly and professionally. From the initial consultation to the follow up visit the day after work was completed, we were provided with top-notch service. We received a detailed estimate, outlining exactly what was to be done and Eric quickly and thoroughly responded to all of our follow-up questions before and during the work. The work crew was punctual, efficient, and meticulous in their maintenance and clean up of the work area. I daresay that they left the basement even cleaner than they found it! Of course, the work itself looks great-- out 100+ year old foundation looks like it will stand for another 100 years. Given our circumstances, we were particularly appreciate of their willingness, at a busy point in the season, to accomodate our  need to get things done quickly, even when we asked (twice!) to change the start date at the last minute. I would enthusiastically recommend Midstate for any basement waterproofing or foundation job, large or small. These guys are true professionals.

The company's job backlog caused a 3-month delay on the start of work at our home. I understand that they have made changes to prevent this in the future. Once they were here, the experience was excellent. Friendly, capable crew on time every day. The work was done quickly and well, and the pricing was very fair. Communication during the work was very good. I'm glad we chose them.

I had Midstate Basement Authorities come a second time take care of a basement water leakage problem.  I was pleased the first time and am pleased this time as well. The same people came to do the job, which was reassuring to me. They had knowledge of my home and what had been done before. I have found everyone in the company to go above and beyond to make sure the job is done right. Everyone was professional, hard working, on time, explained what they were doing, courteous and polite. At the end of the day, the work area was cleaned up. I strongly recommend this company to anyone who has problems with their basements and water.
