    Genesis Painting
House looks beautiful! Had front of the house painted, which included sanding and fixing damaged wood. Will be hiring again in the spring to have the remainder of the house painted. Had several quotes and Genesis provided the best rate.

    L & H Construction Company
Im satisfied with L & H. The work done was good and the price was fair, and Tim was very flexible with timing. The thing I appreciated most was that he was wiling to replace only the actual front door slab without a pre-built frame (unlike other contractors I talked to), which would have changed the entire configuration and look of the front porch entry. It was a custom door and he still had to cut it to fit with the sloped floor (this is normal for porches) but he made it work and Im happy with it.

    A to Z Property Management
I had used Grant in the past for small jobs and things were good. I bought a new house and needed a deck. We decided on concrete as he says it would cost the same and the benefits of concrete were great. Though it took quite some time to get to working on my property. When he did, it seemed like the excavation was a bit shallow and he got very defensive about my questions. He returned and excavated more the next day and put forms in which looked more appropriate for the job. It took about a week and a half for the concrete to come. He did a horrible job. It was like he got to a point and just decided to be done. He didnt finish the top well at all in fact its horrible. He put cuts in by hand that were quite crooked. He says he would be back that night but sent a message that he wasnt coming. When I texted about how horrible it looked he did return to discuss it. He says hed be back the next day and clean things up. He took out the forms and did do some fixing. Hard to do when its a solid rock. He never edged it and said I didnt say I wanted it done that way. Why should I, thats how you finish concrete -anyone who knows what they are doing would know that!!! He thinks it looks so great. Maybe for a garage or a basement not the beautiful back yard deck I was looking for. Honestly, it should be jack hammered out!! I asked him if he patched my deck he said No. There were places that were really messed up, pock marks and extra cuts or towel marks that were gone. And some how he fixed the bad cut lines. Well, he put mortar on my new patio to make it look better (at least for the moment). He absolutely patched my deck with it. Filled the cut lines with it and recut and made the lines look straighter. Well the mortar on day 1 is cracking and turning to powder. Its a total mess. I will need to hire another company to come grind it down to fix the top and finish it so it looks beautiful. Well as good as it can get because its so bad. Im devastated. I dont even want to invite anyone over its that bad. I will not be using him again for anything I may need. Sad.

    Bennett Contracting Inc
Bennett worked seamlessly with my insurance company. Work was needed due to the result of an accident where a small pickup truck smashed into the corner of my house. Porch was knocked off of it's piers and torqued, so windows, siding, and other aspects either needed to be fixed or replaced. The effort was not cheap, but the insurance company paid for most of it. Bennett always stayed in touch, were on time, let me know when difficulties arose with the insurance company and were generally really great to work with. It was completely worth not having to worry about the work being done right and expeditiously.

Excellent Exterior and Deck Company, Inc.
Joe was very professional the whole way. I did not know what type of deck I wanted, so he worked with me to identify the deck that would suit our needs and not be too expensive. For example, he recommended going with pressure treated wood for the surface of the deck and plastic / aluminum / Trex railings, because the surface could be much more easily painted than the railings, and it would save several thousand dollars. He also told me about maximum sizes per row of posts, and the added cost of deck surface and the added cost of another row of posts. We ended up with a 16'x20' deck. For the structure, he used screw-in post supports (a metal post several feet long with large 8 inch screw threads at the bottom end) which I guess prevent frost heaves better than concrete pilings. He used ground-contact rated lumber for everything except the deck surface. He protected the house from water damage by installing two types of sealing methods (something like tarpaper, then a plastic covering over that), when only one of those is required. He explained all of this to me after it was done. The bottom of the stairs were placed on the ground, instead of on some sort of concrete/post footing, but the lumber is supposedly ground-contact rated, so we'll see what happens. I will need to paint the deck in the spring time, since that needs doing at least 6 months after it is installed. The door took some time to order, but once it arrived he installed in promptly. During the process, he discovered that the wall under the old window (which got ripped out) had 7 electrical wires running through that. As might be expected, I had to pay an additional $600 beyond what we originally agreed upon for moving those and installing an outlet and light box, and a switch, but it was worth it. There were a couple times where one of the workers was sick or it was raining, so he had to reschedule, but that is to be expected. His team's work was very good, and they were all very professional. The lawn needed a bit of cleanup after they finished the front awning (a few screws and sawdust piles), but nothing I couldn't handle. Things were cleaned up and finished properly even after I paid the final payment (one of the guys needed to come back twice to touch up spackling around the new door; I was responsible for painting). He noted that this rating on Angie's list is very important to him. I do believe that if anything else were to go wrong, even after he got paid, he would be professional enough to return to fix it promptly.

Excellent Exterior and Deck Company, Inc.
Excellent Exterior & Deck Company are just that...EXCELLENT. They removed our existing deck and built a new deck using great Trek materials. Everyone who came to our home to work was extremely nice, hard working, and polite. I've never seen a crew keep a work site so clean and tidy. Nothing was left laying in the yard or out of place at the end of each work day. I'd highly recommend Joe and his team!

    White's Painting and Power Washing
I could not be happier with the service and outcome of the project.  I have a raised ranch that was built around 1978. The aluminum siding has been on my house since that time and it was time for a fresh look.  Based upon the reviews here on Angie's List, I knew that I wanted Robert White Painting and Power Washing to do the job.  Bob came out and gave me an estimate and told me what the job would entail.  He submitted an estimate, I accepted, and he told me about when he would be able to start.  In his line of work weather is extremely important.  Bob would call  periodically to let me know what jobs were ahead of me and whether we were on track for our end of September time frame.
Bob and his brother came and power washed the house.  They removed my furniture from the deck and patio.  They started painting on a Friday and they finished Saturday afternoon. Bob is knowledgeable about his trade and in one or two instances, explained why I might want to reconsider a paint choice.  He didn't tell me what to do, he just provided me with information that lacked so that I could make an informed decision. They were prompt, professional, neat and even returned three days after they finished the job to return my furniture to the deck and patio.
My house looks like it is brand new!  When I pull onto my street, I just want to stop and admire it. If you are considering an exterior paint job, these are the professionals that you want to hire.

It went very well.  Tom arrived on time on scheduled date.  He was prepared with materials for the job.  Along the way, a few other small projects/fixes needed doing and Tom just did them for me.  He is very professional  and carries every tool, etc on his truck to do practically anything under the sun.
We discussed another project-- remodeling my laundry/utility room with regular sink, cabinet and countertop.  Received fair estimate of work to be done.  This project is planned to begin next week.
