Heartless. Unprofessional. Dismissive. Unorganized with Total Disregard for other time or needs. Above All Gutters belong in the gutter. I couldn't feel any more tossed to the curb than the service demonstrated to my family and I than that which has been displayed by Above All Gutters. FACT: NO SHOW for the first appointment to give an appraisal. After my chasing them down via phone and was told by Above All Gutters that "Sorry...the guy was in Westchester and must have not been able to make it down to you..." UNACCEPTABLY HORRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE. FACT: They requested PICTURES and I had to send them 3 separate times. Still haven't had an acknowledgement of receipt from Above All Gutters. FACT: REFUSED TO GIVE ME A DETAILED CLARIFICATION once they did show up and do an estimate. I was given a bid of approx $2,000 and was looking for the exact costing per a list of items ALLSTATE gave me so that I can SUBMIT Above All Gutters estimates compared to the estimate of the ALLSTATE adjuster. The point being my attempting to make sure ALLSTATE fairly priced the estimates. (HERE'S THE PROOF THIS IS THE EMAIL I SENT TO ABOVE ALL GUTTERS: EMAIL COPY: Thank you for visitng our home at xx-xx xxth Street, xxxx xxxxt NY xxx. The estimate you were kind enough to give was (Invoice 107782) was for Replace entire gutter leader system (including hanging capping piece). The cost was estimated at $2,100. My question is much more specific. Ive included pictures from the Allstate appraisal inspection along with the Allstate description of the damage using their language. How much will it be to repair JUST the items noted in the Allstate Claim report as described and pictured below? Thank you in advance for all of your assistance. We hope to be working with your company... ALLSTATE DESCRIPTIVE LANGUAGE: Additional Details: Our home was affected by a "TORNADO" (random for NY LOL). The gutters took a bit of a hit. Here is the information from the ALLSTATE appraisal. Not sure exactly how to translate so I'll simply copy what's on the paper. R&R Gutter/ downspout - aluminum - 6" 52.00 LF Gutter / downspout - Detach & reset 2.00 LF R&R Fascia metal 6" behind gutter 32.00 LF R&R Fascia - metal 10" 48.00 LF Here's the RESPONSE FROM GREG THE OWNER: (OVER A WEEK LATER) "I wont be able to help you right now sorry. You are better looking for another company to help you." Thanks, Greg

    Major Homes Corp
Of the 6 estimates I received for this project, Major Homes was by far the most professional & organized. Their agent, Carl Di Presso was personable & knowledgeable and not pushy. Of course, they all try to lock you in with a better deal if you book right away, so fortunately Major Homes was the last of my scheduled estimates & I decided to go with them. Their price was higher than some of the other estimates I received, although lower than others, but their reputation on Angie's List and professionalism (called ahead, arrived on time, sent emails with further information promptly) gave me the confidence to sign the contract. Carl kept me posted as the scheduled work commencement date approached & when the team arrived, the foreman Bobby  was on site to supervise. 2 other managers also stopped by on that day to check on progress and thanked me for my business. The team did a good job, cleaned everything up and were done by the evening.
One snafu was that the old existing roof access ladder (bolted to the roof deck) had to be detached to lay down the insulation & gutter, but the crew was unable to reattach it, as it no longer could fit. This was a big problem, as I had no other way to access the roof. The new skylight I had installed was a hatch-type that can- in theory- allow roof access but I later realized this method was extremely awkward due to the weight of the hatch and location of the skylight over a stairwell. Another issue that came to light after the work was complete was that there was apparently some underlying sagging of the roof surface near the gutter, and so a large pond formed adjacent to it during rainstorms that would be just below the gutter edge and therefore unable to drain. I don't know if this is something the crew should have noticed or not, but the fact is that this roof was old, and the previous owner only patched it up with hot tar over the years, building up this area such that it was more level. Stripping all that crap away & building up the surface uniformly exposed a potential problem that had been hidden for a long time. I discussed these issues with Carl and he personally came by to inspect the work. Soon after, he phoned to say that while Major Homes was confident the ponding would not compromise the roof seals, they would send someone back to build up this low-lying area and put an extra layer of sealing over the joints. A few days later, someone came and spent a few hours doing just that. Carl also worked with me to facilitate getting a new ladder from Farmingdale Iron Works, which is actually much nicer and sturdier than the old ladder.
I am very pleased with the work Major Homes performed on my home, and how they were willing to work with me and meet my concerns head-on. I know of too many situations when a company takes your money and runs, so this was quite a refreshing experience. In every construction job there are issues that arise, and you always need to keep an eye on the progress, since nothing ever goes completely perfectly, and one should never expect it to. But I'm glad to say Major Homes took a lot of the potential stress out of this project- when dealing with such an important thing as a roof- which certainly made me sleep better at night. All companies talk about how customer satisfaction is the most important goal, but Major Homes actually works to deliver it.
