Railing looks beautiful and perfectly complements the patio.  The railing looks exactly how I pictured it based on our agreement and sketch.  Now we just enjoy the compliments from guests when we have visitors.

    Bennett Contracting Inc
From the first visit, we wanted this group. We hoped other estimates would come in higher so we would not be faced with a tough decision. We were not since Bennett's estimate was far lower than a company we had used before.  Measurements (windows and siding) were taken to help with accurate estimate and re-taken even more precisely once the contract was agreed. When the materials were ready (about three-four weeks) work began. The crew was outstanding, especially Chris the manager. All were friendly and knowledgeable but, beyond that, totally professional in everything they did, an so hard working. They seldom stopped for a moment (did they even eat lunch??) Each day everyone arrived on time (Jared was 30 minutes early every day!) Materials were kept under control throughout the working day, cleaned and stored every evening. All questions were answered completely and in a very understandable way. When some old siding was removed it was revealed that there was a substantially dangerous situation with our electric wiring (due to another repair after a storm). The situation was explained very carefully to me, but the wheels for a safe and timely correction of the problem were already in motion by that time. Even the glitches seemed to run like clockwork with these people! When I showed some frustration at the way earlier repair (NOT by Bennett) must have been done, Chris explained why the other carpenter might have done it that way. Who knows, but I was impressed with his professionalism when he could have just as easily complained about the other guy. "Professionalism" was the name of the game with this crew. The house looks great. The windows work so well. The iron railing (an after thought on our part, but easily managed by Bennett, and cheaper than another estimate with lesser quality materials) finishes the whole project. Our only regret, was that we had not called them earlier for other work. We will definitely use this company again!

Rick Swett quickly took measurements and provided a proposal including an estimate for how long the work would take. We needed the work completed on time, and Rick completed the job ahead of schedule.  The cost was fair, the work was high quality, and they stayed on schedule with no surprises.

After our initial meeting reviewing what we wanted done, we exchanged numerous emails nailing down the final details. Tom always responded promptly and answered all our questions. Tom and his employee Darryl showed up at 7:30am on June 3rd as promised and worked thru the day removing the existing newel posts, railings and balusters, replacing them with finished oak posts, rails and metal balusters that we had picked out. They completed the project at 8:30pm with everything done except some touchup staining that was needed after they connected the rails to the posts. We had no problem doing the touchup work ourselves. The stain Tom suggested was a perfect match highlighting the oak grain. They did what we consider an outstanding job; on time and at the price we agreed to. More importantly, we did not realize until Tom finished our project just how shoddy a job the original contractor had done when we built our house. Tom and his crew are true craftsmen doing what we consider extremely precise work. We could not find any "goofs" or mis-alignments anywhere. As best we can tell, their work was perfect. We also were very glad to follow his suggestions regarding the placement of the newel posts and using metal balusters instead of wooden ones.

Rick was very friendly and gave me a detailed explanation of the process, including timeline. The estimate showed exactly what the railings would look like, and the price was reasonable. The installation was right on schedule. The railings are beautiful, and everyone was so nice!

Peter returned my message immediately. He happened to have a cancelation that day, so was able to come within the hour. The work was done within 2 hours. I feel like our porch rails will be nice and solid for several years to come.

Cornelius Powell IV came fixed both of our antique doors and the repaired the locks. His service and quality of his work is PHENOMENAL. Truly beautiful restoration of two antique doors, both with round tops- very difficult to maintain. I've had them repaired before, and with Angie's list I had several good options, but I could tell by Cornelius' vocabulary that he knew what he was talking about. I thought it was a good price based on past experience. Cornelius repaired both doors and the locks (I wasn't even expecting the lock repair.) When I saw the final product I just couldn't believe my eyes. They are both transformed and are completely restored to their original charm. The repairs aren't obvious at all. Cornelius and his wife are both charming people and Sarah is a great designer, herself. How lucky we were to hire Cornelius. Thank you Angie's list!!!

They insisted they could smell gas and wanted us to take the car to a car wash and have the underbody totally steam cleaned, then bring it back and they would decide if they still smelled gas. They were not overly helpful. We went to another welder and had the work done, for a much lower price.
