I attempted to use the unit after the first snowfall and it would not handle 4 inches of snow and I had to shovel by hand. I was unwilling to pay for the dealer to pick up and deliver the unit again so they could perform a warranty service call, so I found the problem and fixed it myself. The clutch cable was never adjusted properly when the unit was assembled.  My expectations were that the unit would be properly assembled and tested before delivery.

The drive belt went out on my John Deere lawn tractor.  Service rep told me the job should cost around $200.  It took 10 days to get the job done.  During that time, I never got a phone call to tell me the job was delayed.  I called after three days and was told waiting on parts.  Three days later I was told the same thing.  Two days later they said parts were in and job should be done in a day or two. When I picked up the tractor, the bill was around $750.  I was shocked and was told that there were bent parts that made it impossible to replace the belt, and they replaced the bent parts in order to get the job done.  I was very upset and let sales rep know it.  I asked why I wasn't given a call when it was realized that the job was more involved than replacing a belt, or told about the problem during the three calls I made to find out about the delays in the job.  He really had no answer - he apologized and said the bill was lower than it could have been, and that hours of labor were excluded from the bill.  I said that was not satisfactory and asked to see the owner - I was told owner was on vacation.  I left my name and number, and was never called back.

When I got the tractor home, it ran fine, except now the speed adjust control was hard to operate.  I called and reported the problem, and they came out to pick up the tractor and look at the problem.  The next day, I was told that the speed adjuster was in need of repair, but this was unrelated to the work done previously.  I was incredulous at this point, and asserted that the speed adjuster was just fine before they did the belt replacement and who knows what bent parts were replaced.  I asked for and was denied free service for this repair.  At this point, you would have thought that they would have offered a freebie to make up for my previous heartburn, and/or to recognize that they indeed may have caused some unintended damage through their other repair work.
