  • I've never had to write a negative review before, but the experience I had was so bad that I feel it is necessary to let anyone know how this business operates. I had gotten several estimates for the paint job on my SUV before going to custom collision. Gary, the owner, had quoted me $850 which was $400 cheaper than my next lowest estimate. I asked if he would do it for $800, to which he promptly replied "Are you Jewish?" He followed that he would do it for $800 but all cash, I wouldn't get a receipt, and I had to give him a $100 cash deposit. Going against my better judgement I agreed. While going over the small paint issue on the doors, I had mentioned a previous place had suggesting painting a small pinstripe on each side to cover any paint lines in order to save cost on painting all four doors. Taking a closer look at the doors he claimed he could paint the doors and get it to cover up without having to paint on those pinstripes, in fact he guaranteed he could do it. Also on the back of the roof their is a plastic fin that connects the roof and the tailgate, the plastic was faded, but we both agreed that would not be part of the paint job. I had scheduled the job for Tuesday morning and was told it would be ready by no later than Thursday morning at the absolute latest. Thursday came and the job was not finished, and it wasn't ready until Friday morning. Upon going to pick up the car, he explained that he was unable to sand and buff it cause it was raining and told me to set up an appointment to bring it back next week. I called on monday and made an appointment to come back Tuesday morning. Getting there that morning I was told his guy wasn't there and to come back the next day. A two day max job had suddenly took a week and a half along with two extra trips on my part. The worst part of all of this is what happened to my car. The pinstripes that he claimed wouldn't have to paint on the doors were painted on without consulting me. The plastic fin that wasn't supposed to be painted was, and I had noticed that my tailgate was BROKEN. The shocks that hold the trunk up no longer worked. I had used it with no issue the morning I dropped it off and the very next time I opened the tailgate after picking it up I noticed that it was broken. I discussed this with him and he refused to take any ownership and fix the broken trunk. His defense is those things can break at any time. Which I replied it just happened to break while it was at his shop while he happened to be doing work on the tailgate, that is an incredible coincidence. He firmly suggested that it wasn't and that he wasn't responsible. Please be aware of this guy, you will get a great price quote but it is not worth it with the shoddy work he does.

  • First off, this is not my 1st time using the Kopacz boys at Pit Stop.  I and my business have been using them for roughly 20 years.  They are a father and son team that are hands down more professional, reliable, and quality-oriented than any of the "big boys".  As a side note, ALWAYS remember that it is YOUR choice where to take your vehicles for repair; don't let your insurance company railroad you into their "preferred" repair shops with the line that they only guarantee work done by their preferred repair centers...
    Ok, back to the current repair.  I had a stone chip in the passenger side pillar- right through to the metal.  I had bought a tube of factory touchup paint a while back so I figured I would just fill in the chip layer by layer until it was built up enough to wet sand flat and then buff to (adequately) blend.  The buildup went fine- the wet sanding did not.  I blew right through the clear AND the color layers with 1200 grit paper.  I've been around the "repair block" enough that minor wet sanding is USUALLY well within my capabilities.  Problem here is/was the paint is paper thin on the pillars.  Anyways, I took the car up to Tim with that puppy dog look on my face so he knew right away I screwed something up lol.  Long story short, an appointment two days later coupled with someone who actually knows what they're doing and my Camaro is flawless in that area.  They take great pride in their work and having seen their work for as long as I have, I can, without question, guarantee that they treat the guy or girl off the street no different than they treat me after 20 years.  It's a shame that their location on Clinton near Bailey doesn't give them the visual drive-by traffic that a large location on a major thoroughfare provides- like for example Carstar on Transit by Regal cinemas.  As local businesses closed up shop over the years, they have lost a bunch of their work.  These guys at Pit Stop are soooo far above and beyond the get-it-done-quick-and-cheap guys that it's stupid-easy to recommend them for any repair from major to minor.  They do frame straightening as well so nothing is beyond their capabilities.  I would HIGHLY recommend them for any collision/paint problems you have.  825-3104  Teddy and Tim Kopacz

When I picked up the car, they had actually detailed the inside of my car which was a surprise. It was a very nice after care that they did. I went to four other places and they had the best price. I have told all of my friends to go there.
