Gary and his son exceed our expectations. I had already met with a number of contractors before coming across Colgar Enterprises on Angies List. After my husband met with Gary, we didnt need to look any further. Gary and his son do all the work themselves and dedicate themselves to a project from beginning to end. He is a true craftsman in every sense of the word. He even creating beautiful custom moldings for our windows and doors that matched the style of our house when most moldings available were traditional in style. His price is very reasonable and appreciated the fact that he also communicates clearly and is very personable. We felt comfortable approaching Gary with any suggestions that we had. Our project didnt start until the wintertime due to delays with our permit. It was a tough winter with multiple Noreasters, but Gary and his son were tougher. They would even show up after a snowstorm and work on anything that was possible. As the photos attached show, the addition is on the second story of the house though we chose not to build out the first level below it. There were some serious heights to contend with, but they were very careful. The finished room is more stunning than I imagined it would be. It was all in the details. Gary is uncompromising in the materials that he uses. He has picked through numerous pieces of lumber so he could use only the best pieces on our project. He advised us to use Azek to trim our windows on the outside, in order to save money in the long run. He is cost-conscious and let us know when it was better to repair vs. replace. Additional new windows that Gary and his son replaced around our house are beautifully installed. He even fixed a difficult window that we werent ready to replace! I thought we would have to replace all of the cedar siding on the back of our house (as one siding company had suggested), but with decades of experience behind him and careful inspection, Gary found that only certain pieces of cedar needed to be replaced. I had dodged a major bill. We are using his electricians to help us complete the project and so far their work has been excellent. Gary had just finished his portion of the project last week. Though we are in the middle of the exterior paint project that one of his painters is taking care of, I didnt want to wait to share my experience with anyone looking for a general contractor. Gary and his son made the whole process so much easier than we expected. We are grateful that we found Gary through Angies List. Thank you! Note: Approximate cost of service includes the compete addition plus re-footing the deck, electrician, foam insulation for roof, regular insulation, roofer, painter for inside and outside of the addition-only. Windows, floors, and any additional work requested, not included in cost.

    Brushworks of Rye Inc
Bob and his crew are artists. He replaced failed drywall from a water leak, painted the wall and trim, and when I came home, I could not tell where he had made repairs and what was original. Everything matched seamlessly. No drips, spills or messes. Super clean. I had a section of drywall that needed repair in another room and a wood window to paint. All Perfect. We started looking for things for him to do because he is so good. We found outside trim in need of paint. He removed the old paint, primed and painted. We haven't had to touch it since.

    Finest Craftsman Home Improvement
We satisfied with Finest Craftsman and their attention and cooperation from the very start. They were very good at following-up, identifying issues, communications and solving problems. They were always on time and got the job done. They were willing to work around my schedule, which included Saturdays. We received very professional service, and the contractor kept an open line of communication at all times. They did a great job. The carpentry and the painting were excellent. We were very happy with the quality of their work.

    W M Remodeling Inc
WM Remodeling has done truly first-rate work on every occasion.  They can do any sort of work on a house, from start to finish. They also do all of their own work; they don't subcontract any of the work, so you are always dealing directly with the company, and there is never a problem with having to wait for a subcontractor to do its part.  In addition, they are great at dealing with the kinds of issues that always seem to come up with major renovations.

WM is also extremely responsive.  My husband and I both work, and WM has always been entirely available to speak with us about what they are doing at our house, whether during the day or in the evenings.

Finally, WM is absolutely reliable and honest.  We have never hesitated to allow them access to get into our house while we are out at work.  We trust them totally.

Suffice it to say that we are very demanding, and we would never have stayed with them if they hadn't done a great job and been terrific to deal with throughout these 25 years.

    Service Unlimited
the price was the best, but can not say the same about the work. Marty was prompt with the estimate and returning his calls. The work was delayed because they changed crews, it looks like they are subcontracting. The workers needed a lot of supervision every day - would have left bathroom ceiling and closets unpainted, and moldings not caulked, hardware left on the walls during painting - that type of thing. They were plastering and sanding without painters light and did not bring their own vacuum. They had to redo the cut by the ceiling 3 times and they used tape (?!) with run down pain underneath. Many areas of run down paint especially on moldings. Overall they were cooperating and office was trying to help to close the deal.
I will need to hire someone else to correct a few bubbles that they left on the walls and figure out what to do with the doors which do not open/close well after  painting and therefore pain is coming of the door jams after 2 weeks

    Horizon Painting
Juliano and his workers started when he said they would.  They completed the job when he said he would.
They were completely professional and my wife and I were amazed that at the end of each day they left our home as if they were not even there. The quality of the work was great and we were completely satisfied with their pricing.
We would definitely use them again.

    Lisi Contracting
The work was done in a professional manner by master craftsmen. Each angle was dead on and the walls were absolutely plumb and straight. The tile and marble work was done with care by people who really cared about achieving a perfect result. Valentino Lisi, the owner, appeared each day and was always available by phone to answer our questions and concerns. He spent hours with us prior to the start of the project to help us choose marble type and color, vanity materials and counters. He also showed us faucets and shower parts that all matched to create our vision. We also added an additional furnace and air conditioning unit. This required relocating the old air return, adding a new return to the new furnace as well as adding new supply lines.

    Paint Track Painting Services
Very good job all around. Got a very detailed explanation of the job prior to hiring them. All questions were answered. The workers were prompt, neat, courteous, knew what they were doing. Paint job was superb. Ceiling patch is totally invisible. Deck staining is gorgeous. Followed up after the job to make sure we were happy. And we were! Would use them again and would recommend them highly.

    Jarrett's Home Improvement LLC
Jarrett responded immediately upon initial contact and set up our appointment to be approximately 3-weeks from that contact. He arrived promptly and worked thoroughly throughout the duration of the 8 hr. contracted time.  He presented as trustworthy and talented in being able to perform a variety of household / handyman tasks.  As there was quite a list of to-do's,  after he had finished for the day, I sent him a list of the remaining work to be done  in order to get an estimate., which he said would be provided in afew days. That estimate never came.  I am sure that Jarrett is very busy with work and doesn't need to travel beyong his local area in Connecticut (we are just over the border in Westchester County, NY).   Despite that last snafu,  I highly recommend him.
