Window Replacement reviews in Castleton On Hudson

Rob the Sales Manager gave us some great ideas while giving us an estimate. Joe, the owner was on the job from start to finish. The quality of the products and the workmanship was outstanding. They arrived early morning and worked pretty much non-stop until 4:30pm every day for 2 weeks. The attention to detail was great and we would recommend Navco to anyone looking for a job that will be handled with pride and quality products. The whole experience was fantastic and our house was transformed. So happy we decided to go with NAVCO! Jan A.

I thought all went well until I paid them and they left.  I went upstairs to my bedroom/bath and opened the window that his employee?, friend? was working on.  The top window fell down.  He had not put in the window weights I had provided for him.  And, he left the job unfinished without telling me. I called not 10 minutes from when they left my driveway. They promised to come back and finish the job.  They never did.  I emailed Mr. Glass Guru, Paul, and he never answered me.  I ran into him at the bank.  I asked him to follow through on his promise to come back and fix the window.  He told me to email him.  I did.  He is now trying to weasel out of his responsibility as the Glass Guru by saying his friend/employee is the one who did poor work, not him.  I called the Glass Guru originally, not his friend.  He proposed to me to bring his friend to the job.  I had never met the man before they came together to do the work. Poor work and a liar to boot!

First contacted Bennett early June 2013.  Bryan arrived June 7 and gave me an estimate of the work.  Contract arrived a week later and it was signed and returned along with the deposit for work being performed.  No contact from Bryan so I called him July 17 and he emailed be with a start date of second week in August.  Emailed Bryan again August 12 to see if we were still on schedule for my project.  Bryan said probably the following week.  He called August 16 and said Monday would be the start date.  The old floor was removed and new one poured.  Aug 22 the cabinets were put back in after the floor dried.  When I asked about the window I was told it hadn't come in yet. Sept 16 the window was replaced.  I was told the concrete truck had to empty/clean the "shoot" (not sure what its called) on the vehicle, so I tarp was placed on the side of my lawn for that purpose.  A lot of small concrete pieces were left in my lawn and driveway, some of which I could clean up, some of which I couldn't.  (I thought a better job could have been done with this.)  Overall I think a good job was done.  Love the new window and floor.  Wasn't impressed with the clean up I had to perform after they left.
Unsure whether I want to use this contractor again and but this site only has yes or no, so I'm submitting no because of this.

Excellent job.  Everything is well done.  Ken is personable and easy to deal with.  A small problem arose a day or so after he finished......one wooden storm fell out.  He came back the next day to put the storm back in the window....without complaint!

Everyone I dealt with at Window World was great to work with. All the windows were replaced as promised with no issues. We did have some problems with a few screens that they did end up shipping replacements for. However i thought they should have installed them since it was their fault in the beginning. Not a bid deal though....they just pop in.

Representative was punctual for initial meeting. A second meeting was held at the office to discuss estimate. I had received four estimates for the work and requested a breakdown of the cost for the roof, siding, and window replacement. Three of four contractors honored my request. Otterbeck rep told me it was not possible to separate these costs and gave this long-time do-it-yourselfer a ridiculous explanation of why the cost could not be separated. The office meeting was a sales pitch showing many computer photos of other work performed and wasted more than an hour of my time. Three of the four contractor estimates were within $1,000 of each other for the total job. Otterbeck was a stunning ONE-HUNDRED PERCENT higher than the other three estimates ($35,000 vs. $70,000!!). Needless to say, I did not hire Otterbeck.

In the initial consultation and estimate with Paul, we saved $2,000!  Another company had quoted for complete window REPLACEMENTS.
We live in a log home and each window is 1 large casement with a stationary small glass side.  The wood frame work is very detailed and unique.  The glass on the south and west sides had become so cloudy you could barely see out of them.  Knowing only of replacement, we held off for years because we could not afford it.  The quote we got from another company was for vinyl windows and when I questioned about the wood framing, they said we would not lose that.  And recommended we do a 2 glass slider (less $$).  We went ahead at the time to replace one small bathroom window in the winter because of cracked glass.  We lost all of the unique wood framing (he thought just because it was oak wood on the inside, that was sufficient).  Thank god it was only 1 window!!  Of course, we did not pursue any other replacements.  Frustrated at the thought of pursuing another window company we held off and Im glad we did.  I saw a sign for "The Glass Guru" window moisture removal.  I made an appointment to see if this might be our solution.  We were visited by the owner/installer, Paul Slimgen.  In the first 5 minutes, he said we did not have to replace our windows and lose the beautiful framework.  Paul was very knowledgeable and explained everything in great detail as he examined the windows.  His solution was to replace only the glass on the windows that were permanently stained and remove moisture on the others.  When we talked about pricing all I saw was how much money I was saving versus complete window replacement!
Paul Slimgen is the "Guru of Glass"!!  He was very professional with installation and cleanup.  Paul was not invasive to our home at all and I even left for some appointments.  He is a very honest man, a hard quality to find these days when seeking home services.

See narrative above. Over all  it went well.  Had the timeline for installation been critical, for example if I was selling the house  the delay would have been a problem.  As it was,  it really didn't make a difference.

Very quickly.  They did it in a day.  Two guys came i took the windows out and put the new ones in.  I was surprised that the window interior frame for the bathroom was wood but it was to be changed later by a bathroom remodel.
