    Lalor Creekside Dental
WARNING - extremely verbose review follows!
My son (16.5 yrs) needs two crowns for his front teeth. after receiving what I felt to be an exorbitant estimate from his now former dentist, I started making calls and checking Angie's list. My dentist, in Ithaca was much cheaper. However, I go there strictly out of convenience (although I would certainly recommend them) as I work in Ithaca If I was going to switch my son, my wife would be going as well and they would be visiting a Binghamton area dentist as it is easier. I called one highly rated AL dentist and got some good pricing. My wife suggested that I call Lalor Creekside and I did so on Friday (lesson - I should always trust my wife!). I looked them up on AL and found many glowing reviews. Here is my/our experience.
The young lady who I spoke to initially was both friendly and patient. She looked up and gave me pricing for all of the items on my son's treatment estimate. The pricing was the cheapest by far. She said that they could fit us in at 3:10 that afternoon if we would like. As I wanted another opinion, I jumped at the opportunity.
we were running a little behind - I got a phone call on the way asking if everything was ok. I related that we would be there in a minute, which was quite accurate. They said no problem.
This practice is HUGE. the office is a beehive of activity. Seven practitioners and an army of support staff. To a person, everyone my son and I came into contact with was friendly, invested and seemed happy to be there. They took my son before I could even finish the paperwork. While I am certain that we would have been happy with any of the dentists on staff, we had the excellent fortune to be seen by Dr. John (not the musician). She was wonderful to my son and engaged with both of us in a friendly and confident manner. She seemed to be genuinely interested in my son and talked with us throughout the visit.
As a parent, I felt that my son would be in good hands. We were given an excellent quote, as she determined (and confirmed with a colleague) that a post was not needed for the crown. She took a conservative approach with the second tooth, saying that we should wait and see. My wallet literally squealed with joy! They offered to do the temp crown and mold right away if we would like so we went for it.
there are many technicians on staff, but Dr. John did the vast majority of the work on my son herself while I was there. We were there past closing hours but I got the impression that she was more interested in my son's welfare than her own schedule. So everything was hunky dory from our perspective - what more could you ask for, really?.
Now for the important things. I already mentioned several - pleasant, engaged employees, a caring practitioner and decent pricing. I appreciated the conservative approach that Dr. John took towards my son's treatment. Also of note - initial consult with a bazillion x-rays, is free. They checked our insurance, verified what they would pay and charged us for the balance ONLY. Our previous dentist would want everything up front. It seems to me that a successful practice could stand to help families out and that's exactly what these folks did! extra hours Monday - Thursday until 7:00 pm. Some Saturday hours available. A full menu of dental services available. Cookies and juice available. Welcoming gift. Place is spotless. Frankly, I was VERY impressed and could prattle on and on.
One final thing. I visited their web site. This office does a yearly free dental day for the community. they also do other civic/community oriented things. Between the website and seeing the operation first hand, I believe that this firm has strong altruistic values and ethics and lives them. While that isn't necessarily a top priority for me when choosing a provider or product, etc., it is icing on the cake in this instance. If you have read this far and are interested in becoming a patient, I would strongly advise for it.
