    The first week of April I purchased a 250 foot fence with an 8 foot gate from Lowe���s on Transit Road in Amherst through a man named Andrew. Although he told me it would only be 3-4 weeks for the install the fence was not installed until the last week of June, roughly 7 weeks after I was told. The gate wasn���t installed on that day, however, because I was told the parts went missing and had to be reordered. After 4-5 weeks of calling the store to inquire, the parts were finally delivered to my home the first week of August and the gate was installed a week or two later. The gate that was installed, however, was not a residential privacy fence that I had discussed with Andrew, instead looking like something you see behind businesses to hide dumpsters. Along with this, there are bolts, nails and sharp pieces of metal that are sticking out, posing a hazard to anyone not careful around the gate. I���ve contacted the store as well as customer service (both online and over the phone) but haven���t had a resolution. Andrew hasn���t contacted me about fixing his mistake and I���ve only gotten apologies from corporate. Desperate to at least have the means to put up the gate I had asked for, I told customer service that I would take a reimbursement of the metal used to build the gate and just redo it myself. The response was that I had to sign a non-discloser agreement which effectively ended any responsibility they would have with the gate and which would bar me from writing any reviews. Instead, I took my complaint the Better Business Bureau and was told the store would contact me by the end of the month. If my fence ordeal wasn���t bad enough, I also ordered two doors from Lowe���s which were installed in the middle of August. I���ve had issues with the weather stripping and contacted the store about this. I was told they would order the part but after two weeks of not hearing from them I called customer service. A day later I got a call from the store telling me that the part came in a week ago and that the installer was supposed to call me. So far it���s been a week and I haven���t heard back from them. If I had it to do over again, I would have gone through another company in a heartbeat. Dealing with these issues as well as my summer effectively being ruined by the snail���s pace at which everything is done has caused me a great deal of stress and many sleepless nights. I just want the nice gate I asked for.

    On July 12, Richard came out to give me an estimate in a timely manner. He seemed professional. The quote was at least 3x what I had been quoted by other places (about $2k for a 10' gate), but since the other places were impossible to get in touch with, I decided to go with **. I was excited by their initial responsiveness. Richard explained that they required a 50% deposit and took down my credit card number. He said that once they ran it through for the deposit, they would shred the document to keep my info safe. Then when the work was done, I could pay the balance however I liked (check, cash, or another card). He guesstimated they could start in 4 weeks, weather permitting. The deposit was charged a few days later. After 4 weeks, I called for a status. It took several phone calls, but finally the admin called and let me know they would be able to give me a DATE in another 4 weeks. I wait another 4 weeks, call back, and they give me a date. On Sept 28th, they came out and installed two posts. I called to ask about some fixes that needed to be done to the concrete work, and to find out when they would be back. Again, this was a few phone calls before I could get a response. I was told they would return on Saturday. They showed up on Saturday, installed the fence and left without a word. No one talked to me to have me inspect the work. I saw that they had left the old cane hole in the concrete and that the privacy fence had a 8" gap in it. Not so private. I texted them on Sunday asking if they could just patch the hole and screw an extra board onto one side to cover up the gap. This would have taken them 10 minutes to do if they had only knocked on the door to talk to me. They knew I was home because I went outside to show them the outlet. After texting them Sunday, I called on Monday to follow up. No response. Tuesday, I saw that they had charged my supposedly shredded credit card for the balance. Incredibly unprofessional not to even touch base with the customer after the job. I called again, this time pretty angry. All my calls go straight to voicemail now so I suppose they blocked my number after they finished the job. The only good thing I can say is that the gate looks sturdy enough. But the lack of communication an unprofessional behavior left a horrible taste in my mouth. I was nothing but reasonable and polite and they couldn't be bothered to talk to me for 3 minutes. I have three more fences to replace and will be going elsewhere.

    I highly recommend Sadler Fence. I had a small job, adding a 30 foot wide, 6 foot high section of vinyl fence. This was for a wind and wound barrier. Colin Sadler came for the estimate. He brought information from several companies for me to choose from. He new the products well. With my requirements I needed something more commercial than residential. His methodology was transparent and simple. He told be what the labor would be first. Then the rest was just based on the materials I selected. When it came to the planning and installation he was thorough and offered constant communication. He reviewed the survey to verify where the fence should be and that was carefully verified by his team when they arrived. He kept me informed of the scheduling because mine was a small job he was able to move it up quite a bit. They are often scheduled for months out. The install went very smooth and the fence is perfect. I had a string of problems and disappointments in the past few years with contractors, so this was a fantastic experience. There is nothing I could suggest that could have better or different.

    They quaranteed 15 years on old fence and 30 years on new fence. I did not get this in writing so when a panel came undone I called and Mark and he came and looked at the problem, He did not mention anything about a upfront fee, said he would get back to me. I waited until Fall and did not hear from them so i called. Mark said he would be out the coming weekend. He did not show up but did call the following Monday, and said if I wanted them to come out there would b a 250.00 upfront fee. I asked about there quarantee an he repeated the 250.00 upfront fee. I told him to Go to ****. and he said F--k You. Not in my opinion very professional.

    What a breath of fresh air to find a contractor who is responsive, honest, professional and actually showed up! Eric and his crew were terrific. Eric gave us great advice in helping us to pick out what fence would be right for us. He was quick to respond to any questions we had. We scheduled the install for 3/25 and his crew was here that morning. They completed the job in 3 days. They even raked and spread out the soil from the holes they dug for the posts. It was a pleasure doing business with them. The fence will certainly add value to our property.

    We had several fence companies come. Colin Sadler stood out for several reasons. He owns the company and does every sales call. His explanations were very clear and he was the only installer who expressed concern about my gardens and advised to me to move shrubbery too close to the fence line. He uses the same material supplier as the other guys and still came in at a better better price. Workers were professional and courteous. Colin came back to review and repaired a small gap to keep my dog in the yard.
