  • Went well. purchased a furnace tune and the technician was very polite, knowledgeable and he gave me few tips on how to improve the efficiency of my furnace.They also flushed my hot water heater. I'll be using them again.

  • First, I posted a photo of my invoice to prove that they did work with me because I noticed they were claiming otherwise to discredit other people's reviews. I would never recommend Big Apple. Do not sign a contract with this company. This is the first negative review I've ever posted about anything because I usually feel too sorry to do so. In this case, I feel morally obligated to. This is a long, detailed review but I urge you to read through so you don't go through what I did. I got a new boiler installed in the summer which came with a yearlong warrantee for repairs. It broke this winter and when I requested to schedule times for repair, I was either made to wait all day or had to work my schedule around theirs or not receive service. I was literally told "take it or leave it" when I asked if they could come at a different time to consider my work schedule. One major repair took three days (machine parts were replaced and they had to drain my heaters). This month, it stopped working again. This is in the dead of winter. It was extremely cold so I called for a repair. They said they'd arrive the following day. I checked in throughout the day and was told they were on their way. They never arrived and never called me to let me know. Their office closed and I couldn't reach anyone. I cancelled all my plans hoping they'd show up at night and was so cold and worried that my pipes would burst. The next morning, my father had to go to the office in person to urge them to check. I missed another day of work to wait for the repair since they wouldn't schedule a time for me. When they came, they realized the thermostat was loose and I just needed to get a new one. I was relieved it was an easy fix and replaced it myself. 2 weeks later, I received a mailed invoice for the visit claiming I had told them someone else broke the thermostat and touched the boiler (I did not tell them this. The thermostat was just old.) and therefore the service was not covered. Keep in mind, they were asking me to pay $163 for a visit that I had to resolve on my own which should normally be covered under the warrantee which was for a $17,000 purchase. When I called to refute it, the representative scolded me, and threatened to void the warrantee if I did not pay it. I am afraid to ever call them for any services. I am paying them out of fear because they know where I live. If there is an issue in the future, I will have to call another company because warrantee or not, the stress and paranoia that comes with Big Apple is not worth it.

  • I can't complain enough how much of a joke it was to deal with this company. It felt like I was trapped in a bad comedy. The first rep they sent was fine. He was a nice guy and said he had solution for our problems. Then I receive a variety of random quotes for the job. When I followed up for an explanation, no one answered. A couple months go by while we focus on other problems with our house. We reached back out and they send ANOTHER rep to give a quote on the work. This guy cancels on us twice. Then when he finally comes, I received 8 different quotes for the 8 different services we needed (again with no explanation of the work). When I asked for two of the items to be done, the owner wants to send ANOTHER rep to assess the situation. Please save your time and sanity and go elsewhere.

  • I am usually too busy and/or lazy to write reviews - but service from this company is so amazing that it motivated me. They deserve as much praise as I can give. First of all they are a SERVICE company and that's EXACTLY how they act. They always deal with you as if the most important thing for them is to help you solve your problem as quickly, efficiently, and professionally as possible. If they have a very booked up day and you need them ASAP they go out of their way to accommodate your needs. Property ownership would be SO MUCH easier if other vendors/contractors were like this. Every time they have sent us one of their employees they've been very professional and knowledgable. The woman who coordinates the jobs when you call - Lauren - is always sooo helpful and conscientious. She makes sure that everything is OK and that you understand what is going on. She calls to keep you updated if there are any changes. At the moment we are going through a particularly frustrating situation with National Grid and the gas in the building. Yesterday she actually called me AFTER OFFICE HOURS - ON HER OWN TIME!!! To ask about how the situation was going, and if there's anything she can do to help!! If you have been dealing with vendors/contractors you know how unusual this is! When you give this company money and your business, they really take their obligation to serve your needs and solve your problems seriously. As I stated before we have an annual service contract with them to service our hot water heaters and boilers. And there are constantly unexpected problems popping up. It is such a HUGE relief to me as a property owner to know that such a professional operation has me covered when problems to arise.

  • much cooperation - difficulty w/o hot water for almost two weeks - subsequently petri has addressed this problem and will be providing hot water with a temporary electric water heater what glitches came up, petri addressed quickly and competently. answered questions, provided updates, went the extra mile. others who have come to do inspections like the city - were most impressed by the unit. they are not inexpensive but guarantee their work true professionals.

  • After calling numerous companies on a Saturday, all which wanted to come on Monday; we then checked Angies List. We received 2 responses immediately. Hempstead Heating was less expensive and came within an hour! We are extremely happy with their service, expertise and immediate response to our problem.

We needed our kitchen sink (pipes) fixed, we called him, he was here in less that 30 mins, He was profession, explained the job to us, discussed money, which was with in our budget and manageable. He was done within 20 mins....loved his work! Will hire him again!! Excellent work!!

  • Joe was great with communication, providing advice and discussing the installation of my new hot water heater. He came by on schedule to see my hot water heater set up and to provide an estimate, **a free estimate**. (One thing that drives me crazy with some plumbers is you have to pay them $80-$100 for simply stopping by your house for 10 minutes to confirm that your 20 yo water heater needs replacement) After deciding that I wanted Joe to do the work I called and we set an appointment for the following week. Joe and his crew were on time, professional and efficient. They installed the new HWH and took care of a broken hose supply for my backyard, I was very happy with the work and I thought it was done for a fair price. Would definitely call Joe again.
