    Sunnyside Masonry
Without a doubt our project with Sunnyside Masonry was the best contractor experience I've ever had in NYC. The owner, Aidan, nailed all the the crucial P's: promptness, professionalism, precision and price (a bargain, given the scope of the work). He showed up to give me an estimate the day I called, had a design for us the day after and was on-site everyday once work began. His crew is amazing - they hauled about 15 tons of gravel, sand, stone dust and bluestone up the front steps, through our brownstone, down the back steps and into the backyard without so much as a scratch. The house was prepped and protected in the morning (plastic and moving blankets on the floors) and restored at the end of day, so the whole project was minimally invasive, and completed in a week. Best of all, the work - both design and execution - was impeccable, and beautiful. It'll last forever. I've been dealing with contractors in the city for 20+ years, and it was such a pleasure to work with someone reliable who does exactly what he says he's gong to do and charges what he estimated (to the penny). I wish these guys did electrical and plumbing, too! Overall, a perfect (and exceedingly rare) experience. Can't recommend Sunnyside Masonry enough.

    Sunnyside Masonry
Aidan was very professional and quick to respond and got the job done well and without delay. We had a very good experience working with Sunnyside Masonry- they were conscientious about their workspace- making sure to cover and clean any cars that might get dust from the saw cuts they made in the concrete sidewalk. They all worked hard and did a great job - we would definitely hire them again.

If you're in the NYC area and need a general contractor, you can't do any better than Milano Granite & Marble. Rocco & Joe were amazingly helpful throughout the process. They followed through and followed up until everything was perfectly in place. Marc helped coordinate the entire process. (licenses, permits as well as recommending an Architectural firm). Milano staff helped us create the home of our dreams, the team were so insightful and truly understood our vision, also such a pleasure and fun to work with. They were involved in every stage from sourcing unique looks to really nailing the wow factor in every room. They are very fairly priced. I recommend their services without any hesitation.

    Timeless Decks & Renovations
John and his team did a great job on this project. There were some bumps along the way that were not John's fault. I wound up changing several things multiple times mid-project. John worked hard to accommodate me and work around a very uncooperative neighbor I share a driveway with. He was clearly aiming for my 100% satisfaction and once all was said and done that's what we got. We replaced a falling apart fence and deck and a disgusting backyard area with a composite deck, beautiful fence and pavers. We wanted to put a tiny pool in our backyard and had John install a fence with lock to keep code. The price was not cheap, but fair for quality work. You get what you pay for.

    Rahat Construction Corp.
Overall, it went really well. There were some little areas that needed fixing after they were done, and they came back twice to make those small changes very promptly and at no additional cost. They want their customers to be happy with the final product. They are kind, direct, and good at what they do. They will help you find good deals from vendors for materials.

    Dunrite Design Group Inc.
In short, I highly recommend John Maffio and his team at Dunrite N.Y. Inc. for home improvements and renovations. The cost of renovations can be significant and the time spent in choosing the right contractor is key. Below I've detailed the reasons why you should at the very least, obtain an estimate from Dunrite. My day job requires me to travel frequently and therefore, I'm mostly unavailable during the week. I needed a contractor where I could be hands-off and still be confident the renovations were being completed with the same standard of care as if I were involved every step of the process. I also wanted to be kept in the loop as to the progress of the work being performed. What I learned was that my renovations were being managed better than I could have imagined. John and his team at Dunrite treated the renovations as if they were working on a property they owned themselves. The words that I would use to describe Dunrite are: - transparent; - honest; - timely; - experienced; - detailed; - knowledgeable; - innovative; and - responsive. My apartment is a pre-war 1 bedroom Co-Op that needed a full renovation. The bathroom and kitchen needed to be gutted. In addition, I wanted a large window opened in the wall separating the kitchen and the living room, in order to put in a counter top bar area. I interviewed 5 contractors for the project. During the walk through with Dunrite, John not only provided ideas but also advised on certain renovations that should not be performed because the costs out weighed the benefits. John would say, "I can do exactly what you want and charge you but I believe it does not need to be done and here's why....." This type of advice was absent from all the other contractors that I interviewed. At the end of the day, the other contractors spoke in generalities and left me with more questions. Dunrite provided its estimate 3 days after the initial walk through meeting which was the quickest out of all the contractors. Dunrite's estimate was also the most detailed . All tasks and costs were itemized. I was able to verify and compare material costs to other third party vendors. Dunrite's estimate was not the lowest but it also was not the highest, it was fair and reasonable. Our second meeting to finalize and sign the work order took place at Dunrite's office and showroom. Having a physical location contributed to my decision to choose Dunrite. The other contractors seem to work out of their personal residence. Dunrite demonstrated to have a corporate infrastructure. A place where I can go or call if issues ever arose. The showroom also provided me the ability to touch and feel the materials that would be used in the renovations. As mentioned, I live in a Co-Op building where the rules and requirements for renovations are very strict. All renovations require Co-Op Board approval. Dunrite was able to navigate the Co-Op Board approval process without my involvement. Dunrite has a team of contractors lead and supervised by an on-site foreman. Depending upon the phase of the renovation, there were anywhere between 2 to 6 workers in my apartment at one time. Dunrite is not a "one man show" worried about the next job or distracted by open items from the previous job. Reliability was never a concern. Throughout the entire process, updates were provided by John. There was never one day where I didn't know what phase of the renovations were being performed. Dunrite also accommodated all my changes to the original plan without any extraordinary change order fees. Again, all fees were reasonable and fair. Dunrite was able to complete the renovations within days of their estimated completion date. The delays were mainly attributed to changes or additions that I had made after the work was started. Lastly, I can honestly say the entire experience of working with John and his team at Dunrite was a pleasure. Dunrite displayed none of the negative characterizations which many people experience with contractors. I am very happy with the work performed and would not hesitate to hire Dunrite again. Scenic View Landscaping & Design Specialists LLC
Amazing amazing job. A+++. Very professional. Chris came out and designed a beautiful wall for my back yard. Chris was so easy to deal with, answering all my questions, and I had lots of them. After we agreed to do the work and take his resonable quote, Chris sent over Alex and his team to install it, and they were very neat and clean, and did a super super job. Came out better then I ever imagined. Its stunning. Cant wait to start on my next project with them later this summer.

    Doctor Pavers
I just want to say we were very happy with Doctor Pavers in all respects. We were happy with the beautiful results (we have gotten numerous compliments about our bluestone patio from neighbors, friends and our contractor), as well as the process -- both the courteous and professional crew and supervisors (Reginaldo and Marco) we worked with, and at the office (Andressa, who always got back to us quickly with regard to our fairly frequent questions and concerns). The whole project took a week (whereas estimates from other contractors were much longer),and the cost was several thousand less than other estimates. Doctor Pavers may not offer as wide a range of stone and pavers as more boutique and more expensive landscapers, but if you are willing to do some research in advance, know basically what you want (first language of many workers and supervisors is Portuguese, but communication was generally not a problem) , and are a little flexible, I think Doctor Pavers is a great choice.
