Countertop Installation reviews in Bronxville

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • We love our kitchen remodel. Champion Remodeling exceeded our expectations. His workers Jesus, Alfredo and Mark are truly talented craftsmen. If we had any questions, the owner Danny answered our phone calls right away. Our home was respected, tarped and cleaned at the end of each work day. We recommend Champion Remodel to anyone considering a renovation. Outstanding work!

  • Being the daughter of a contractor and the wife of a chef, I vetted over 12 contractors. Several of them never called back with estimates, were not transparent with the services to be provided, or provided astronomical estimates under the guise that we were "located in Westchester". We were impressed as soon as we met Mike. Mike pointed out a few things as soon as he walked into our apartment for the estimate that other contractors never noticed. This demonstrated to us that Mike was well-equipped with the experience that made him a safe, knowledgeable, and honest contractor. Mike gave us a fair and reasonable estimate and was willing to respect our budget. We never felt as if Mike was trying to overcharge us. Even when we ran into unexpected hurtles, Mike always took the time to explain and offer options that were safe and in accordance with our budget. Mike listened to our preferences and offered professional suggestions to improve our vision. Thanks to Mike we finally have our open-concept, modern kitchen and dining room that we envisioned. Mike transformed our space into our dream come true!

  • Update: 1/8/16
I have really struggled in decided in whether to post an update but since my kitchen isn't a year old.... During the install, I noticed that the workers had ripped the freezer door off my brand new french door refrigerator. I did tell Jeff this but he offer any solution. What I didn't notice until recently was they bent the hinge on one of the french doors which has been causing my fridge to fill with condensation. So much of my food has been ruined. One of the hinges has come off a cabinet. There a few other items that i have issues. I still love my kitchen but disappointed in the damage to my fridge and the lack of attention to detail on some items.

Overall I really love my kitchen. I met with Jeff in November 2014 to discuss options to add additional counter space to my single sided galley kitchen. His idea was to build cabinets to the ceiling and then build a 12" custom cabinet (with sliding doors). During the consultation, I decided that I also wanted built-in put in my living room, which he was able to do as well. The final plan was to remove existing cabinets, paint, replace floor, put in new base and upper cabinets, and custom cabinet  with quartz countertops.
Like some others have said, sometimes communication from Jeff can be lacking but in the end most things worked out. As for timing I was told it would take 5 days but it ended up being just over 2 weeks as there was some issue with cabinet doors. The reason I selected JR Laminators because I felt like Jeff wasn't try to oversell anything and he just wanted me to be happy with my new kitchen.

  • My husband and I were both extremely happy with the standard and quality of work provided by both Jeff and Alex.  They were genuine, honest hardworking guys who wanted to provide the best in service and did a great job all round.
The bulk of the the work was subcontracted to Alex who was really punctual and professional and performed to a high high standard.  When there was a few minor issues noticed after they finished (due to a slight communications breakdown) they came back and rectified immediately and could not have been nicer.  Their reputation is clearly extremely important to them and consequently I believe it would  be hard to find better service.
We would definitely use JR Laminators again and are very much hoping that they will come back and do bathroom next month!

  • The person in charge (Gem is his name) had the WORST actitud I have ever seeing in customer service.  I ask his name and he told me "I haven't told you my name, you won't recognize my name since it is from Turkish" kept talking to end with "and you never have being in Turkish or will go, so, you don't need to know my name"... it is funny that I actually had being in Turkish twice and told him.  Then he took 10 minutes to explain his name belong to the most-mayor-best- (etc) Turkish king ever so he should be treated as a king himself (???!!!).  After I refuse his first suggestion and ask him to quo a different one, he went really crazy, and ask me if I will buy him if he make the quotation and if I have the 1500 to make the purchase!!!
I just got out with a big headache from his actitud.  What an waste of time and pace of mind. I will really need to take the rest of the day off to survive this nonsense.  I just can say STAY AWAY FROM THIS PERSON.

  • It went extremely badly. First of all, their Customer Service Department is in Maryland and my work was in Westchester County, New York. The reps. were never available and didn't return phone calls. The installation was poorly done on one area and it took them weeks to pick up 4and quot; backsplash and mill down to correct specifications. I had to wait until they were in the area again. Overall, I had a poor experience with Counter Intelligence.
I had been told never to hire installers from Home Depot but I did. Very poor decision on my part and I strongly recommend that no one use these people or any installers from Home Depot.

  • It is a pleasure working with them.  They gave realistic dates for the job and completed it as promised.  It went very smoothly because of their persistence in doing the job right.  Whenever a bump in the road appeared, they worked tirelessly to fix it.  I have found all the people at Peak to be very knowledgable, cooperative and responsive.  They really mean to please and satisfy the customer for a fair price.  I would and have highly recommended them to others.

  • With many home contractors, you get a very skimpy contract proposal and you are left wondering whether to complete the project with this person or to go look for another.  Because JR Laminators received such high reviews here on Angie's List, I decided to give Jeff the benefit of the doubt and hire him to do the work we discussed.
We are very happy with the work that was done.  The kitchen is vastly improved.  Jeff was very accommodating, and even did some patching work gratis.  He was always punctual and professional, and very helpful in providing information or ideas that were not strictly part of the project.
The project took longer than I anticipated and I don't recall if it was explained or not at the beginning, but take note that just because the majority of the work gets done in 3 days does not mean you have anything that looks like a finished kitchen within 3 days.  It took several weeks for the counter-tops to come in, as they have to be custom measured once the cabinetry is in place.   During that interval, we had use of temporary plywood counters and overall the kitchen just looked like a mess.  This is nothing against JR Laminators, as it would have been the case with any contractor.  I just didn't realize it at the outset, so make the  note here for those who are contemplating similar work.

  • The process went on for far longer than we anticipated, using several subcontractors. The countertop installation finally occurred in August 2011, but it was November 2011 before the bathroom panels/doors were finally installed. The latter installation was delayed when the supplier sent the wrong panels.

That said, the workmanship was excellent as was the quality of the materials used. Particularly noteworthy was the perfect color match of the lightrails to the cabinets. The work went relatively quickly on each task once things were finally in place to proceed. The company was responsive when called, but it is a good thing we were not in a big rush to have the work completed.

  • Granite Tops worked with us from start to finish. Walked us through the complete process...stone selection, layout, installation. They coordinated everything with our General Contractor/ cabinet installer. When we ran into bumps, GT and the cabinet installer worked it out to our complete satisfaction. A piece of stone was incorrectly cut, it was replaced the same day.
