    My move turned out to be very easy. Gotham Moving Systems made it all possible. Their movers were just fantastic. They packed all my stuffs very creatively. The truck was loaded properly as well. They delivered everything just a few hours later. In fact, they arrived to my new house even before I did. They unpacked everything and placed the boxes where they were supposed to go. They charged me very little for the amazing experience they provided.

    I hired TikTok Moving to move my belongings two week ago. The estimate given by the company seemed quite fair. The movers actually arrived 10 minutes early on the moving day. That was the first sign of how professional and efficient this company was. The movers took very less time to pack and load my 3-bedroom apartment into their truck. All of my stuffs were delivered safely one day. I couldn���t believe how capable this company really turned out to be.

    I hired Gotham Moving without knowing much about them. They gave me quite a low quote and I was pleased. They were very efficient and organized. The movers seemed very experienced with handling heavy pieces of furniture. They stuck to the original quote at the end of the move and there were no hidden costs.     Our company participates in charitable events during the year, which require a lot of supplies and equipment. We used to use a storage unit to store everything and it was jam-packed to the ceiling. We'd inevitably need to get something that was in the back and it would take hours to drive to the facility, pull everything out, find what we needed, and pack everything back in.     Simply Organized Move
    Jennifer came to assess the job, approximately how many women hours to complete and how much packing materials would be needed. The supplies were ordered and sent directly to my home ready for the packing to begin. The staff came to my home three times and completed the packing. All boxes were packed, taped, labeled and stacked. Donations were gathered together and boxed for pick up. Garbage taken to the curb. The staff was professional, on time and worked the entire time on the premises. Jennifer had also given me the name of a moving company who ended up giving me the lowest estimate and did a great job. I never would have finished on time if it wasn't for their assistance.

    Roadway Moving
    I hired Roadway Moving to bring items I had in a storage unit back to my house to the basement.  They were punctual however the moving crew's representative (Alex) was rude and tried to add additional fees throughout the job.  I was told originally when I called that the Angie's list coupon was $279 for 2 hours of labor and 1 hour of travel.  I spoke with the Person (Anthony) on the phone and after telling him what I had to move he said yes and additional hours are $105 per hour but we shouldn't need it.  I said ok.  When he sent the contract it stated $150/hour with a minimum of 3 hours labor and 1 hour travel.  I had them change the minimum 3 hours of labor after a bit of a debate since what is in the contract is what controls in court.  We changed it and he indicated it was $150/hour since it would be after the 25th of the month.  That was not discussed previously but I agreed. 

    It was not easy getting confirmation for the start time of the move.  The dispatcher did not call and it was not until Sunday afternoon before I was confirmed for the Monday morning at 9AM.  I was told I would receive a call 30 minutes before they arrive.  I was called 1 hour before and they said we are 1 hour away.  So I said ok then I got a call 25 minutes later saying we are 10 minutes away.  So now I had to rush.  I got there and the crew leader (Alex) started with a "you have more stuff then they said so it will take longer"  I said I told them what I have and they gave me an estimate. Alex said "I should have known to request an onsite estimate"???  So after much debate (and a call to the office - where I spoke with Chakira who was very nice and assured me we would get this done as promised) I said ok just move it and we will see where the time ends. They proceeded to pack up stuff that was loose into their boxes and I asked why as it was moved here like that with another moveing company.  Alex told me it was not professional and he would not charge me for the boxes.  I said fine but no surprises! They started work and worked fast and hard.  The driver drove very slow which made me think they were padding the time but I did not say anything. 

    Once we arrived at the house the items were unloaded and they finished in the 3 hours (not 2) as estimated but then Alex said I have to charge you for an additional 30 minutes to complete the contract.  I said I am not paying for administrative time.  This was after several disagreements.  So I called the office again and Chakira reached the dispatcher and they agreed that they would not  charge for administrative time just for the labor time and travel. Alex then told me how hard they worked to get the job done and that nothing was damaged and that I should not have called the office.  I said I don't disagree with you working hard but that is your job AND the reason I pay you is so nothing is damaged. That should not be a plus it is expected.  I called the office to avoid additional arguments and I wanted to call when they had finished work not after arguing for 30 minutes and then being charged because I could not prove they finished the work at 12:30 instead of 1:00 like Alex wanted to say. Alex also stated I will not charge you for the boxes I used.  I said I know because I told you I would not pay for something you did not need to pack.   So after all they charged me for the extra hour and travel and tolls.  I think the work was satisfactory however the attitude and professionalism was lacking in their crew leader Alex and therefore I would not use them again.  If I did not fight them every step of the way they would have tried to charge me for additional time, boxes and labor.

    UPDATE:

    After speaking with the office Chakira (customer service representative) reached out  to me a few days after the move was completed and apologized for the terrible service I received.  After our conversation she called me back and stated they would refund the $180.00 overage since I was totally unhappy with the service received.   They REFUNDED the $180.00 charge so my total move fee was just the $279 Angie's list deal.  I have to say Roadway "righted the wrong".  I would use them again but request a different crew.  The office was very customer service oriented.  Chakira was very responsive and did not leave any stone unturned when it came to making me feel like a customer.  Maybe a bit more training for the crew leaders on the move team but the inside office understands customer service.

    Arpin Van Lines - Charles Wood & Son Moving Inc
    I called Arpin Moving Company and they informed me the local provider was Charles Wood & Sons in Melville.  I called and spoke with someone and made an appointment for Richard (representative) to come out and give me an estimate.  He came out within a week and was very nice and professional.  He quoted me about 6 hours of time plus travel.  He provided the estimate in writing by the next morning.  I called to schedule the appointment and was told he was busy that day.  I stressed how important it was for them to come that day he said he would call me back and see if he could move some appointments around.  Richard called me back in 15 minutes and said he was able to revisethe scxhedul and we were set for the date I requested.  The movers arrived promptly at 8:00AM got started by surveying the items and wrked straight through taking 1 five minute rest after completing the bulk of the move (all size boxes were in the basement and they worked as ateam to get it all out.  Once loaded they followed me to the storage facility unloaded and stacked the items neatly in the facility.  They actually finished 1.5 hours ahead of schedule.  I was charged a minimum of 5 hours (they finished in 4.5 hours).  The 3 men were very nice and they really worked without stopping.  I called Richard because I was not informed there was a 5 hour minimum and he said he was sorry he thought he advised me of that but since I didn't know when I call them for the final move in a few weeks he would give me a credit for the .5 hours I paid toward the next move.  He also graciously agreed to bring by the $50 in free moving supplies (for Angie's list Clients) to my house even though the move is technically over.
    I would use them again they were nice funny and very very efficient.  They did not work slowly to pad the time they were efficient and quick but not sloppy or reckless.  I will definitely use them again when we sell our house and move.
