    I found Jim Doyle (of JD Home Remodeling & Repairs) via Angie's List in the Spring of 2015.  I am a builder myself and I know that it can tough to find talented and honest contractors.  It was a pleasure and a relief to meet Jim and his assistants.
    Over 2.5 weeks, Jim & Co. built two baths at my home in the Rockaways from scratch: framing adjustments, cement board, waterproofing, shower bases (per my request), full tile & grouting, minor electrical & plumbing, and installation of fixtures.  Jim was happy to work with my customer-supplied materials.  And most importantly, the work was top-notch.
    Jim is: No BS. Honest. Reliable. Experienced. Realistic. On time. Communicative. Fairly priced.  And not a whiner.
    Many thanks to Jim for the great work, and I hope to work with you again.

    I had to fly to JFK airport for a family emergency. I booked my flight the same morning of the flight. I called Barbara at Martin's Belle Harbor for car service from the airport to Breezy Point. She was a pleasure to deal with. She picked up the phone right away and with just 5 hours before my arrival time she was able to schedule a car for me. The car was waiting for me when my plane landed and Batbara contacted me to confirm that the car had arrived. All went very smoothly. The driver was friendly and courteous. Barbara was also very pleasant and professional. I would definitely recommend them.

    Things went very well with them. They completed the work about a week after my phone call. They were there on time after we scheduled the appointment. There was no trouble with the work at all. They were clean, orderly and polite.

    Hours wasted on the phone with TWC being bounced from department to department. After all that's happened after the hurricane, I just don't need extra expenses from a company that isn't responsive to its customers. I finally got someone to understand, remove the charges and finally, close the account because if they think that being a customer for 13 years makes it more likely that I'll stay, they're wrong. I'm following my neighbors to Fios.

    My project began in late December, and I am scheduled to be back home in late February/early March. His team has worked weekdays, weekends and on holidays to get me back home as soon as possible. And I am so pleased with the results. My new home looks better than ever! 
    Given the weather and the difficult working conditions in Breezy, due to the storm damage, this was truly phenomenal. I have many other fellow Breezy Point and Rockaway residents who are looking to have their homes restored and I do hope they give George a call. He performed a miracle for me and he can do it for them too. You are the best, George!

    They used to have a GREAT reputation but I don't know what has happened to Greene Roofing.
    I called to make an appointment for an estimate on a full roof repair.
    We scheduled a day and I took the day off from work.
    An hour after their appointment time, I called them only to be told that even though the appointment
    was for Wednesday they wrote it in the book for Thursday!
    They then wanted to know if i would be home on Thursday.
    What were they smoking? how many days off must I take to fit into their schedule?

    Finally! A cure for Tax-time stress.

    Just about everyone we know dreads April 15. Some just hate the IRS, others hate sifting through old records and doing the math that makes you focus on your money. Until now, good intentions aside, we would procrastinate until the 11th hour, and simply bundle up the paperwork and express mail it to person we'd been going to for a couple of years. Whatever it cost, it was worth it to stop the anxiety, fear and confusion.  Every year was like that until this year.

    We knew things had to change when we got a letter from the last person we'd been referred to telling us that for a fee of $100, their company would represent us in the event we were audited. What?!@#$%

    We're new to Angie's List, having signed up a couple of months ago because we were starting a kitchen remodel. In utter panic and desperation, I checked the list for accountants. After reading all the reports, we decided on Ross & Company. 

    The minute I spoke with office mastermind, Terry, I was convinced! Her warmth and sense of calm really communicated confidence, and that clinched it. Terry said we could send in our paperwork, but recommended in-person meetings, especially with new clients, which is wonderful. We were given an appointment for the following week that worked perfectly for us since we had to drive almost 50 miles from Manhattan and off we went. Forget all the nightmare visions of tax inquisition, waiting for hours, palms sweating, in an overcrowded office then being herded in, clock ticking, until our time ran out. This was definitely not the DMV! We were greeted with a warm welcome from Terry into a tranquil office that put us at ease right from the start. 

    Meeting Glen for the first time was great and sat down with him for 45 minutes or so while he did our taxes. All the while, Glen asked great questions that we had never thought of, pointed out some issues about the way our taxes had been done in the past, straightened us out on a number of questions we had about Federal tax law that no one had ever been able to answer, and made excellent suggestions. To be honest, this was all new to us, as we had gotten used to thinking of ourselves as hapless victims when it came to taxes.

    The whole experience was an epiphany! We walked out of there feeling more confident,  really pleased at the size of the refund, delighted with Glen's reasonable fee but most importantly, feeling that we had gained a valuable partner in our financial future.  To sum up in a word: wow! Our returns never looked better, the cost of the appointment was incredibly reasonable and the peace of mind we got --priceless! We even got an Angie's List discount for our first visit! 

     We're sticking with Glen Ross & Company from now on! Thanks Angie's List for yet another brilliant recommendation! Too bad there aren't A++ ratings because this is just that, an A++ recommendation for an A++ company.
