PARLOR CITY DRYWALL & PAINTING, Inc.
It was great. There were 2 problem areas...a chair rail was not level and a shutter was not level. The response to correct the problems was immediate. Another job they performed for us was to plaster and paint, do some plumbing, install shelves and lighting and level and paint the floor in our basement after the house was propped up and three of the cellar walls were replaced. That was around Oct. 2013. We are still very pleased with the work that was done.

    The Insulation Man
Initially the proposal was based upon various assistance programs. After we declined to submit a credit application that would determine our eligibility for various incentive programs, we asked The Insulation Man to simply give us a price on work we wished done and forget about programs. I hasten to add that my issue is not with the vendor, but the gyrations required to qualify the work for various incentives.
We were given a choice of dates for the work, with the understanding that we needed to vacate while work was in progress. I booked the first date available, and they arrived at the time promised. I in several times during the day and felt assured that everything was being done as agreed. My questions were answered and we were consulted at various points as to our preferences on minor details.
As promised, they completed mid-afternoon the same day, and follow-up air infiltration testing was done to validate the improvements made.
Care was taken with tarps put down, old fiberglass that had to be removed in certain places was bagged up and carried off. After sweeping, a vacuum was used. Each employee was courteous and knew their jobs.

    Kiefer-Randall Construction & Remodeling LLC
We selected Kiefer-Randall to remodel our kitchen and bathroom because they had an excellent rating on Angie's List.  Another important factor for us was that Kiefer-Randall is a somewhat larger company and we felt that they could do the job faster than a smaller organization.  With a larger company, the work can proceed at your home, while elsewhere, company personnel are cutting orders, picking up and delivering materials, and generally taking care of all the tasks that keep the project moving but which, in a smaller company, can eat away at the time available for the actual work.  Once our project began, it continued on with Kiefer-Randall staff on our property every work day.
That Kiefer-Randall is a larger company turned out to be critical, at one point, when serious and extensive structural damage was
discovered under the floor and the walls of the bathroom.  City inspectors became involved, requiring an architect and a putting together of many heads to come up with a solution.  Kiefer-Randall performed this task well and saved us many thousands of dollars in the process.  In this regard, we were continually pleased to find that the Kiefer-Randall workmen were comfortable with the challenges that our 100-year old house presents to a contractor.
We saw mention in another Kiefer-Randall review (here on Angie's List) of "Joe" and how pleased they were with his work.  We also had the pleasure of having Joe do most of the remodeling for us.  He is a gentleman who is also a hard worker, one who knows his business and is very careful with the details.  There are many fine touches that he provided on this job; and his tile work is just beautiful.  Given the quality of this company, we are certain that all Kiefer-Randall employees are equally competent; we just happened to have Joe and he was a pleasure to have on our property.
We saw some reviews on Angie's List that gave Kiefer-Randall a "B" rating on price.  We didn't find that to be true.  While Kiefer-Randall was not the low bidder on our project, we already have plenty of horror stories from contractors who sold us their services based on price.  We did not want to go through that again.  We wanted this project to be done well, in a timely manner, and without hassles.  We consider what we paid to Kiefer-Randall to be a fair price and money well spent.  They listened to everything we said and then made sure we got what we asked for.  As for concerns that arose during the project, all were addressed immediately and to our complete satisfaction.  Kiefer-Randall is a solid "A" company.  We would not have wanted to pay for less.

    Picture Perfect Home Improvements
In a word ... FANTASTIC. Rob was very neat and conscientious throughout the process. He checked in with us every step of the way and made great suggestions, too. We received an initial estimate which is very close to the final amount paid, especially considering the changes we requested along the way.  We started this project in late August and it is all but complete now and we couldn't be happier. The time frame for completion was exactly as expected, and Rob even accommodated us when friends came to stay in the middle of the construction process ... he left the area nice and neat for us and our guests.
We get weekly (and sometimes daily) progress reports and even photos when we have to be out of town while the work proceeds. The quality of work is very good and we know every week just what to expected in cost and project completion. We couldn't be happier with the end result.
We consider Rob a partner in both the design and construction of our remodel projects. We look forward to future projects with Rob ... we are already planning the next remodel phase.

    Foam It Insulation
young men were extremely polite/ careful of my floors - laying down plastic to keep carpets protected/shoe removal, etc. To areas of the attic where cellulous was not effective (ie sloped areas) foam was used. The owner even developed a and quot;roomand quot; in the attic where I could have storage without the loose insulation being present- using spray foam and foam boards. They crawled under the house (we have no cellar) and placed heavy duty sheeting on the ground as a vapor barrier complete with foam insulation along the foundation. This may not sound difficult but the weather was very cold, the crawlspace access openings small and the distance from ground to floor joists very limited in many spots.
They helped us secure financing through NYS energy saving programs.
I found these workers to be friendly and polite. They even provided photos for me so that I can show any prospective buyers of our home just what has been done that may not be readily seen (I mean, how many buyers are going to crawl under a building to check something that is not easily seen?)
The company came back after the work was done to perform energy measurements that showed how much their services/products had changed our home's weather worthiness.
I was very happy with the service provided. Their personnel were careful to answer questions, even making an extra trip to our home to actually see what I was talking about. They treated all my concerns with what to me was a sincere desire to have my questions answered honestly and forthrightly.
The energy audit included a check of home appliances and safety items - ie- efficiency of oil burner, presence/operation of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. They installed safety drains on my heating system, and created a dryer vent and bathroom fan vent that met codes.
I'm sure I'v forgotten something here. I assure you, in my opinion, they were very thorough.
