The owner of VetMedics Michelle Scarchilli answered my phone call several times during the early morning hours as I was seeking answers to a variety of questions in how to deal with this sudden situation brought about by our dog's death. She understood our situation completely, and also explained that while her company could help process our animal being cremated, they themselves do not do cremation and suggested we would be much better managed to call the mortuary directly. We were in Manhattan at the time and would have driven twice the distance up to Fishkill to let her take care of our beloved pet's remains, but instead she recommended Hartsdale Pet Cemetery in Westchester which was half the distance away. Totally professional and selflessly wanting to help the grieving clients, we totally recommend her services and her kind advice. As it turned out, Hartsdale Pet Cemetery was the perfect choice for us, and when we were there they provided us with alternate choices that could not have been made without our visiting them. And so we must thank VetMedics for their direction, which amounted to no income for them but we hope this review will encourage others to use them whenever situations require it. Thank you Michelle for your caring and sensitivity in dealing with us.

it was a rough day for sure but the care, compassion and professionalism made the day a lot easier on myself and my family. What really caught me off guard was the sympathy card I received the following week. Truly great people

My husband and I would highly recommend Karen's services. Having rescued numerous dogs and cats from SPAC, she has a definite compassionate connection with all animals. Some of the services she rendered are: flexibility in her schedule to accommodate our request, the option to have an individual or group cremation(with others) and to stay during the cremation if we so desired. Her adjacent sitting room has a nice warm wood stove (probably gas but looked nice). The crematorium is solar powered and is a state of the art machine. We were able to be with our kitty by ourselves before she closed the door. You can not view the cremation so we chose to go to Hudson and eat breakfast and return in a couple of hours. By then she had removed the ashes and placed them into a metal tray where we could view them if we wanted and pick out some bones if we desired. She gave us the option of taking them in that state (mixed ashes and bones) or further grinding them up for scattering(smaller amount). We chose for her to further grind them up. Karen then had a choice of tin containers for us and placed the ashes in the one we chose. She also offered a couple of bookmarks which she personalized with our pet's name and a velveteen bag in which to place the tin. Some people may not want the details she offered but it wasn't required. We found ourselves touched by her thoughtfulness and now have bookmarks!! The whole process took about 2-3 hours. With all the news of crematoriums not doing their job, just taking your money, this was by contrast a loving experience for us. We left feeling reassured that we had treated our 17 year old companion with the respect and love he deserved.
