    Aetna Inc
Aetna is efficient with payments, and generally easy to deal with. They offer a "concierge" service that is a well-informed person who can look up your situation and provide cost estimates or navigate claims or otherwise inform you of what you need to do. I like this in concept, though once was very mis-informed about the cost of a certain procedure. So the hospital bill came out considerably higher than expected. The next person I spoke with after the fact was able to look up the conversation, so that made me feel good, even though there was nothing they could do about the cost. Their online setup for searching doctors and claims and prescription reorder, etc. is pretty good. Helpful content is available. Some of the interfaces are clunky.

They have a good network of doctors and are pretty good about talking on the phone with you if you have a problem. The website is comprehensive, if a little byzantine to utilize, and are usually very good about dealing with billing issues.

Elected to enroll in aetna healthcare - the coverage is very good in my opinion - and the representatives are always knowledgeable.

We have been very pleased with the supplemental coverage we received with the Aetna plan along with Medicare.  It was an option that we chose that worked out very well.  Whenever we had a specific question & needed to talk with an Aetna rep they were very easy to talk with & responsive to our situation/question.  This has worked out to be a very cost effective program for us.

    CDPHP
Overall the claims from all medical providers were handled quickly and accurately. I had claims from the primary care doctor, the surgeon, the anesthesioligist and for labwork. We had to contact customer service of CDPHP a couple of times to resolve issues like co-pay and such. All responses were handled efficiently and accurately.

Their billing is the worst imaginable.  I waited 6 months for a $14 reimbursement that only came after I filed a complaint with the state board of ethics for insurance companies.  They are just the worst worst worst.  They refuse to give you information that can help in tracking down lost reimbursements and refuse to do anything to resolve.

    AFLAC
Aflac was the worst insurance we ever purchased. It was a complete waste of time. They use a business model that puts as many forms and waiting periods between you and the reimbursement as possible. I found, it was impossible to get reimbursed for a medical procedure, even if it was covered. All costs are paid upfront by the patient. You submit forms, they question things, then they approve what they say is "reasonable". It has nothing to do with the actual cost. At least a regular health insurance company negotiates the charges with the provider. Aflac does not. Our agent said he shops around to get a dentist who will fill the cavity for below the AFLAC reimbursement rate because it is legal for him to keep the difference. Who does that?!? I like my dentist. I generally want him to do my dental work. I pay for insurance so that I don't have to bicker about the price he charges. Shopping for cut-rate dentists is not my idea of good healthcare. Aflac also have mandatory waiting periods to get the money, which is not released until you REQUEST it. You will need a calendar planner to get any benefit. Paying anything for this plan is a joke. I couldn't have more contempt for a company which preys on the high cost of American health care by making things worse for the patient. They wouldn't even be in business if they had to talk about what they provide instead of hiding behind a cute duck.
