Alan came and did the estimate in a timely manner. The office staff was wonderful!!! Candi and Tara were very helpful and a joy to work with. Felt like I really mattered - they were great about keeping me informed every step of the way! Jose and partner showed up and worked diligently until the job was done.

It went poorly on so many levels.
John had some delays due to an injury and he also had a bigger project going on at the same time as our small project. We had already paid our 50 percent deposit.
His estimator mis-measured and the gutter was 2 feet short and it took my husband's insistence that he finish it.
Two of the four storm doors he installed he did OK, but kind of on the sloppy side. He didn't measure properly. The handles are off. On the front door, it's not centered and on the side door, the handle is high. He said that it needed to be that high to clear the inside knob. But it was still higher than it needed to be.
The other 2 doors, he actually hung in the wrong doorways. My husband told him clearly and he said he understood. They were 2 very different doors, both in expense and in style. We reluctantly paid him. They need to get changed out but now the hinges and swing are wrong. He also said that he put them where he did because he thought our dog might damage the door. We never asked him to consider our dog's play style. It didn't even come up in conversation.
He said that he would able to do the work in mid-January and we've not heard from him and have been waiting a month.
Upon further reflection, he is so inattentive and lax in his professionalism that we don't trust him to finish.

    Perfect Exteriors

I met the owner, Eddie Drake, at a home show in Poughkeepsie, NY in April of 2014.  My wife and I had gone to the home show specifically to find a contractor to complete the exterior siding on our home which was in terrible shape.  Of the 4 contractors that I spoke with, Eddie was the most professional and attentive.  Since my wife and I had never even contacted a home improvement contractor previously we were very nervous.  We explained to Eddie that we were very unfamiliar and scared with the process and immediately he acknowledged this and was very understanding.  The other home improvement contractors at the show seemed very standoffish and arrogant.  They only appeared interested in doing extremely big jobs and seemed frustrated by my questions.  This was the complete opposite of Perfect Exteriors and Eddie Drake.  Immediately we felt comfortable with Eddie and decided to make an appointment.  We met Eddie on a Sunday and he was at our home the following Friday and even agreed to meet us after hours so I would not have to take off time from work.  When he arrived he spent a good deal of time inspecting the exterior of our home all along taking notes and explaining everything as he went along.  He spent nearly two hours at our house explaining the process, the materials, the costs, etc and was extremely thorough and very detailed.  The explanations were in lamens terms and Eddie was not the typical pushy salesman trying to sell us his most expensive product.  We had met other home improvement contractors and honestly no one came close to the level of professionalism and honesty we experienced from Eddie and Perfect Exteriors.  After Eddie had given us his quote we had decided to look for financing.  My wife and I had experienced some financial hardships in the past and unfortunately we were unable to get financing.  We were devastated and immediately called Eddie to tell him the bad news. To our surprise, Eddie told us not to worry and he would work extremely hard and make sure we got the financing.  I was skeptical and went out on my own again looking for financing even willing to take a pay day loan so we could get the siding completed, but was still unsuccessful.  After almost giving up, I received a phone call from lender who specialized in home improvement financing for people with not so perfect credit.  The person I spoke with had indicated that Eddie Drake had referred us to him.  After speaking with him for a few minutes I was relieved to hear that my wife and I would qualify for the loan!  I immediately called Eddie to tell him the good news and once my wife and I received the approval we went ahead and signed the contract.  A few weeks later, Eddie had called me to tell me they would begin installation of the siding.  My wife and I were even more impressed once the work began.  Eddie came over with his team, who were just as professional and pleasant as he was. They worked with the utmost care and were punctual and extremely neat and even worked on Saturdays.  Eddie came by almost every day to inspect the work that was being done and to make sure we were happy and also to answer any questions we had.  During the process my wife and I decided that we wanted new front windows as well.  We were reluctant to ask Eddie since he had almost completed the siding at this point and knew how buys he was.  He came over measured the windows and told us he would order them and as soon as they came in he would install them.  Since now they had to come inside our house, my wife and I were nervous about the mess. However, once again, Eddie and his team impressed us.  They treated our home as if it was their own and although they were in and out of the house all day, they did not leave ANY mess for my wife and I to clean up and of course the outside of our home was spotless as well.

The work on our home was completed on August 9th 2014 and my wife and I could not be more please with Perfect Exteriors and Eddie Drake.  We constantly are getting compliments and honestly believe we have the best looking house in the neighborhood.  When people ask, we always tell them to call Perfect Exteriors and Eddie Drake.  Thank you Eddie and your fantastic team!

    Local Dad Repairs
My partner and I recently bought a house that had already been through a remodel, but with work that left a lot to be desired. We had a long list of items that we wanted done by a professional - some tiny (like installing new towel bars or caulking a tub) and some large (like waterproofing a dirt basement or repairing the gutters). We reached out to several providers on Angie's List, but decided to go with Jeff of Local Dad Repairs.
Why? Well, first things first. You can't beat the name, right? Local Dad? It was like, awwwwww. That's sweet. If my dad was local I'd totally make him do the work. But he isn't. So the next best thing would have to be Jeff.
Seriously, I emailed my list to Jeff. He arrived on time one evening to walk through and give us his impressions of the work that needed to be and could be done. He was quick, knowledgeable, and suggested other future projects without being pushy (a couple of which we added to our list because they were such great ideas). He let us know what items on our worklist were unnecessary or could wait for a few months or a year. And then he gave us a quote for a reasonable hourly rate.
One thing really sealed the deal. When he came into the basement, he looked at the supports and suggested that we call in an engineer before doing any waterproofing or digging. Although we didn't follow that advice to the letter, he was the only provider who looked past our immediate requests and made recommendations that weren't just upsells for him, but that clearly took into consideration the long-term investment that we had made in the home. It was as though he actually cared.
If he doesn't really care, he fakes it REALLY well.
We engaged Jeff for two separate days - the first day was for some general stuff that he did (with a helper) over the course of a few hours and they were great, did a lot, cleaned up after themselves, blah blah blah. You've seen this in the other reviews.  But he also left a couple of projects unfinished. Boo, right? No. He stopped one project at the point where he recognized a potential problem that would need the attention of a master electrician (required according to the codes in this town). He stopped another at the point where a better idea for completing the project became clear. Since we planned on having Jeff back for a second day (which hasn't happened yet, but will this weekend!), the unfinished work was not a problem. I'd much rather have things done right and well.
The second day was gutter day. And this was out of control. In a good way. Seriously, IF YOU NEED WORK DONE ON YOUR GUTTERS, CALL LOCAL DAD. The team Jeff brought in was in and out in a matter of a couple of hours - to remove and replace all of the gutters and downspouts on a house. And the price could not be beat. And the gutters look amazing.  And they work like a dream. We had a massive rainstorm the day after the gutters were installed, and - with the exception of one tiny spot that Jeff is going to come back to fix - worked perfectly. The foundation of my house was dry, even though the world was soggy.
So all of the work he's done so far has been laudable.
One thing - He's busy right now. So if you want him, you'd better call him NOW.
Another thing - Communication between visits is occasionally imperfect (some delays in responses, and some details get missed, etc.), so you may need to follow up and/or nudge.  Or maybe not.
Have you read this far and not called Local Dad Repairs yet? What are you waiting for?

The Brothers That Just Do Gutters
Very seamless interaction. On the first visit it was determined that the 5" gutters were not the correct size for my house and it was explained very well. Since each truck is setup for a different size gutter system we had to reschedule for another date. On the second visit the same lead installer returned and he remembered all that we discussed before, so the work started promptly and was completed in a timely fashion. After the work was done we walked around the house to take a look  and there were no issues as expected, the cleanup was very thorough also.

The Brothers That Just Do Gutters
The crew arrived on time, and performed quickly and efficiently.  The gutters worked very well during the last heavy rains we had last week.  We are very happy with the crew, their professionalism and workmanship and we loved the price as well.  Couldn't have done better.
Thank you for a great job!

    Emerald Seamless Gutter Corp
They were fantastic. They were the best and were very inexpensive. My contractor walked away in the middle of the job and didnt finish the stuff that he was supposed to do like the gutters on the new addition. He had done the gutters on the other side and hadnt even completed them. So, I had Emerald come out. They matched up the gutters. They were very quick about it and it was a perfect match. There was no leaking or mess. It was surprising that the cost was less by half and it was half as much for more gutters than what I paid on the house. Everything they did was perfect. While they were here, my neighbor walked over and saw the job that they were doing and asked for an estimate. They went over and gave an estimate. We had yard signs on our yard for a while. They were super clean. They pulled the stuff out of the back of a truck on a roll and it was done right there on the driveway. There wasnt a speck of metal or anything. You never knew they had been there.

    Just Exteriors Plus
The savings on my heating bill from having the triple pane windows installed was amazing, which was why I wanted the same windows for my basement. This winter, with the new windows, the basement was nice and warm, and the heat wafted up to the second floor of my house so we didn't have to turn the heat on as much on the second floor. Just Exteriors stands by their product 100%. We were having trouble opening one of our sliding windows, and they sent someone out to look at it and found the problem. They ordered parts for the window and repaired it, all for free! What company does that anymore?
