    Schrader and Company, Inc
We hired Schrader because of the positive reviews, however I believe that the direction of the company has changed from restoring older homes to new construction. All of the men that did work on the house were professional, skilled and solution-oriented when faced with the many problems of an older home. However, the owners attempted a few times to attribute design problems to the "character" of an old home. At times we felt that our "small" six figure project was mocked because we were unable to fit their particle board/melamine cabinets and other high end finishes into the budget. Unfortunately, we mistakenly used the sales team as a design team. We were agressively sold an expensive subcontracted banister which was installed into stairs that will need to be rebuilt even after requesting that it should be done last only if the budget allows. If you use Schrader because of their excellent master craftsmen and woodworking abilities, use an independent design group that provides true to scale digital renderings and follows the project to finish. It is a conflict of interest to involve the sales team during the design process. Also, subcontract as much as you can on your own. We had many small electrical, plumbing, sheet-rocking and tiling issues that were never resolved because we didn't notice them soon enough. Overall, everything was built to code, and I'm happy with the outcome, but the project ran way over budget and aesthetic details were not resolved in a fair manner. Don't be fooled by google and Facebook reviews. They have negative reviews deleted.

    Spa City Builders, LLC
The project started the last week in March and finished early in May, 2014. Doug and workers showed up on time every morning and worked diligently through the day. The quality of the work is excellent. Our kitchen and dining room now look better than even I expected. There were no cost-overruns. The only reason it wasn't finished in April was that there was a delay in receiving the countertops. We were so pleased with this project that we had Spa City Builders back in the Autumn to replace our deck. Another great job. Further, I have recommended Spa City Builders to friends. Spa City Builders has completed several projects for my friends over the past several years, all of whom are very pleased with the results.

James was knowledgeable about what needed to be done. He explained all of the details and factored in my concerns and special requests. Al was awesome. He arrived every day as expected and cleaned up the entire area completely. He was funny and down to Earth - he has spot on workmanship and did a fantastic job with everything that came up during the project. James and Al worked closely together to provide me updated prices and a realistic timeline. Great job! Price I provided included fixtures that I chose.

James assigned Al to remodel our bathroom. Al arrived  to the job on time and worked continually throughout the day. He was quiet while working, and very respectful to me and my home. Al made it a priority to install the shower in timely manner, as he was made aware that it was the only one in our house. Al was the only person working on our project, he handled all of the plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting. He was great at addressing questions and concerns. We can't thank Al enough for our new bathroom. He is truly talented in his profession, and should be considered an asset to Atherton Painting and Renovations.  Reasonable cost, quality service, pleasure to do business with. Thank you!

The provider arrived promptly on time during each day of the contract, and worked quickly and efficiently during each work session. The provider did not waste any time. The provider was very knowledgeable about what needed to be done for the job and proceeded in an efficient manner to do the installation. The provider was very neat and tidy during each work session and cleaned up the job site very well before leaving for the day on each day of the job.
The kitchen cabinet installation was completed very satisfactorily by the provider within budget, and on time according to the terms of the contract
I was very satisfied with the quality of the workmanship and the end result and have nothing negative to say about the provider's
    overall performance.
I was impressed enough with the kitchen cabinet installation job that I am contracting with the provider to do a second job for me, the removal of old carpeting and installation of new wood flooring in three rooms totaling about 300 square feet. I would recommend this provider very highly.

    LMN Construction
Mensur & his workers did a great job with this large remodelling/painting job (took almost a full week). I had also included doing a bunch of miscellaneous work such as replacing most of the lighting fixtures in the home, and replacing both a shower door and a screen door attached to our kitchen. Mensur was as flexible with his time and willing to do small things I had asked such as replace bathroom fittings/ fixtures, and refinish a damaged door for us, very easy to work with. He also had a couple of ceilings and rooms repainted at no cost, just because he felt it didnt look right, you wont find this kind of concern for the customer with many contractors.
The house came out looking great, as the ice dam damage had the place looking horrible with water stains and ruined drywall in several rooms. LMN also refinished our master bedroom, removing a 'popcorn' ceiling and repainting the entire master bedroom & bathroom, this came out looking like a new house, fantastic.
Mensur and his crew are polite, and flexible to work with, very professional and punctual, and accountable to the customer. I highly recommend their services, in fact we are getting a quote from LMN to refinish our central staircase and hall with hardwood.

    ARK Water Solutions
Adam Kerwin and his helper did the work quickly and neatly; issues that come with replacement were solved competently, and Adam made a couple of small but important changes that improved the functioning of our existing plumbing system. He scheduled the work in two sessions, as the faucets were delivered; he arrived when he said he would, or called if he was delayed.
One of our new faucets was defective and began leaking the night after installation. Adam helped us get the attention of the manufacturer (Delta) and the local supplier -- on a Saturday -- so that a new faucet was available for him to install on Monday. Both Delta and the local supplier had expressed no interest in helping us ("It will take three weeks to deliver a new one, if we can get it, and we can't give you a replacement part before then") until Adam -- in a thoroughly professional manner -- went to bat for us. After his intercession, a part was miraculously found. He came on Monday to install it, and the faucet has performed flawlessly since then.
We appreciate his work, and are enjoying our new faucets. We feel we now know a reliable and skilled contractor to help us next time we need it.

    ReBath of Albany
The man who came to give us an estimate was VERY nice. I really liked him and his professionalism and wanted to go with re-bath as a result. However, the price quote was absolutely outrageous. They wanted $7000 to remove a 36-inch shower insert and replace it with laminate tile sheets. Apparently they don't use actual tile "because actual tiles fail." If they fail so easily then how is it that houses that are over a hundred years old still have their original bathroom tiles in beautiful condition?
I couldn't figure out why, after I was already all set to get a quote from him, he sat me down and gave me a sales pitch before giving me a quote. He threw out a lot of buzz words like warranty and insurance coverage etc. That's all well and good, but most contractors have the same or similar protections, and it still doesn't justify a $7000 price for the most basic shower stall package. I found two other licensed and insured contractors in the area who are willing to do more work for $2500-3000, and they also both have A's on Angies list.

    Gilchrist Remodeling LLC
Rob has done a lot of work for me including putting in a beautiful year round sun-room. This time the job was smaller - to fix up an upstairs junk room and ugly bathroom into a nice living space. Job included building a closet, hard wood flooring in bedroom, tile in bathroom, new lighting, new bathroom toilet and vanity sink. He has very creative ideas of how to utilize space and how to get the job done efficiently and attractively. I have hired Rob for four major jobs and I completely trust his ability to cost out a job satisfactorily and stay within budget. I have recently hired him to build a gazebo for me in the backyard. I know it will be gorgeous and cost effective. I can't emphasize enough how good his ideas are. I have my ideas and he often comes back with something better while not blowing the budget. I'll continue to hire Rob as needed knowing I'll always get a great result while being cost effective.

    V & S Tile LLC & Bathroom Remodeling Co
Only negative was the tub was not properly supported underneith resulting in squeaking sounds when standing in it about a week after installation.  We had paid for the job prior to noticing the squeaking noises.  To his credit, Sergey made several attempts to fix the problem without removing the tub, but the only solution was to take out the tub and redo the support under it.  They did this at no additional cost to us.  That solved the problem and is actually very quiet when showering.  We did have to do some touch-ups to the woodwork after they redid the tub but overall we're very satisfied with how they stood behind their workmanship.
