    Howard Remodeling
Work performed was of very high quality. The contractor ensured that measurements were accurate, installations square, level, and well constructed. The contractor was very helpful in the design and was proactive in ensuring that work was done to meet building codes for current and potential future modifications. Contractor was very reliable, reasonably priced, and took the extra time necessary to ensure that the job was performed right. The drywall was spackled and sanded with minimal dust and the painting was very neat. The contractor's work was subjected to four required inspections as part of the building permit and the work met all expectations of the inspectors. The work was completed within the agreed upon budget. Upon completion, the contractor promptly removed all construction debris and left the job looking clean and tidy.

They spent about four days on the job but they had to jack up a section of the foundation to strengthen it at the corner of my garage where it was suffering and sinking a little. They had a different kind of a way to approaching the ceiling but the work that they were doing was mainly above grade but not entirely above grade.

The person who came out to look at and discuss it with me an give me an estimate was not the person who was on the site doing the work so again it was the same kind of deal where you had a crew who come out and do the work I think the guy who came out in the beginning I think he may have showed up at the end and he did do a walk through with me afterwards and I showed him a couple of things that still needed attention and he got those taken care of.

I was lucky to get somebody to come out and address the problem and they seem to have done a good job, we have done a lot additional work to try and channel the water away from the foundation this is only really a problem in the winter when the ground freezes and water follows a certain path and so I installed all new helmeted heated gutters on the house I had the driveways entirely redone and replace and a drain inserted at the end of the driveway in front of the garage.

They were the only ones who actually came out and actually looked at the job and gave me a price for that job.

    They did a good job.

The guy who came to give me the estimate and discuss the work really seem to understand the problem and how to address it so I was very pleased with that I thought that he had a better understanding of how to address the problem and somebody else who came then gave me an estimate. It was a pleasure to work with them.

At least the person who represented the company knew what needed to be done and told the guys what to do and they pretty much did it so they might have been a little sloppy and messy about how they left things, I trying to remember I wasn't home, my grandson  was home while they were working on it and. the bottom line is any more water has been coming through that spot I think they got it plugged well and I think that they put enough of water repellent over the area that whole section I had them do twenty feet of the basement wall just to protect it, they had to excavate down  about five feet below grade to fine the spot and plug it.

The problem with was that it came in a area under a staircase that was closed off so from the inside we could only see water had come in and soaked the floor and the wall but we couldn't see the area of the wall where it had actually come through because it was hidden by a staircase that was enclosed under the garage so it was hard to find this I think they did a good job and I would probably hire them again.

They had to dig up my yard to find my stoppage. They worked until they knew the problem. They did an outstanding job. They explained everything as they went along. Was very pleased with the work.

    SDS Tree & Stump Removal
I initially contacted Scott via the Angie's List website.  Scott responded via the website and advised me to call him.  I called and told him what I wanted done.  He came by within a couple of days to do an estimate.  At no time, prior to his arrival for the estimate, did he mention there was a $200 minimum.  I basically wanted to grind the stumps that were putting up suckers.  There were others that I didn't care about, as they were either well on their way to being decomposed or not a major issue regarding regrowth.  Once Scott told me about the minimum, we walked around the yard and he marked the stumps to be ground.  I missed one area of the yard where there were 3 small pine stumps (about 3-4 inches in diameter).  I then called him back and asked if he could include those 3 for the same price.  He said he couldn't do any more stumps for the $200 price.  He then said he could do all of them (without clean-up) for $350.  I agreed to do this.  Gary and Joe arrived early Monday morning to begin the work.  They were polite and pleasant.  After they were done, Gary asked me if he had missed any.  I didn't see any except for some small pine stumps in the back corner of my shed.  Gary indicated that he could not fit the machine back there, so I said that was OK.  While cleaning up the yard, I noticed that a small (approx 5 inches in diameter) beech tree had gotten skimmed by the machine.  This was in the area where Gary indicated he could not reach.  I contacted Scott immediately upon finding this damage to the tree.  I wanted him to put it on the record that this tree was damaged and may, as a result, have to come down.  His response to me was "well you wanted all of the stumps ground."  I indicated to him that some of the stumps were not in reach and couldn't be ground, and I was OK with that.  I had concerns about the tree.  He gave me no satisfaction at all, and was frankly, a bit rude with his response and lack of caring.

The work only took a few days.  They dug out the damaged section of the foundation, which was at the corner of my garage. They braced the ceiling of garage and the second-floor living space above it, and then removed damaged concrete blocks and replaced them.  The workers were a bit sloppy about leaving tools sitting out overnight and forgetting to replace sheetrock in the garage ceiling that they had removed.  When I asked for Tim Warner to come by and check the work before I made the final payment, he reattached the sheetrock quickly.  Overall, the work appears to be satisfactory.

He came and gave us an estimate on April 25, 2015.  We called the office on April 27, 2015 and hired them.  We agreed to do the group process which is to wait until they have a bunch of customers in our area and do them all at the same time which saves $300.  Around May 20th I noticed that a driveway at the end of our street had been done and Pregent's signs were up so I called the next day and left a message.  My husband and I have been calling almost daily for weeks now and leaving messages and they do not return our calls.  Yesterday, my husband called and got a busy signal so he called again 30 seconds later and it rang but no one picked up so I decided to call from a phone that we haven't used, figuring they have caller ID, and Marissa answered the phone.  I asked her why they haven't returned our calls and why the house at the end of the street was done but not ours and she fumbled her words and tried to tell me that she had been sick for a few days and then it was the weather put them behind but she couldn't come up with an excuse as to why the driveway down the street was done and not ours.  My response to her excuses were "how can you run a business and not return phone calls for almost three weeks."  I then said, "it's been over a month so you should be able to give me an exact date of when it will be done."  She said she had to talk to the guy who runs everything but he was out doing errands (it was pouring outside) and he wasn't reachable which I find really hard to believe that he doesn't have a cell phone.  I said, "if I don't hear from you by tomorrow morning (today), we don't want your service and I will report you to Angie's List. " The fact that I'm writing this tells you that they did not call.  I do not understand why we are being treated this way.  We never met them before the estimate and we were very pleasant to them when we met.  I'm extremely disappointed, especially because we turned away the other companies that gave us estimates.   The other part is that I chose them because they were on your A list and they were a local business.  I will tell everyone I know not to do business with them.   I hope you contact them and let them know of our discontent.

    Timber & Stone LLC
Bill was pleasant, However, I was under the assumption he was going to be "working" the job based on our conversations. He showed up early in the morning to give guys direction but didn't do anything until the last day where he swept in paver sand and built the fire pit. There were different workers each day (some consistent ones) and they were pleasant. I had a concern about the grading of the lawn and contacted Bill and he didn't seem to validate my concerns and seemed done with the job now it is over. I will now have to goto another contractor to do it right because I'll get charged a ton to have timber and stone do it. I'd rather hire an engineer to speck it out and do it right.
