    All-Brand Appliance Repair
    Not well. Anyone who works with All-Brand needs to know that they will not make an appointment. Apparently they just call you when they're in your area as ask if they can come over and do the work. I pleaded multiple times for an actual appointment, but they were unwilling to give me one. When the technician actually got to my house, he couldn't get the dishwasher from under the cabinet. He showed me where it appeared to be nailed in. I said I'd call the contractor who had remodeled my kitchen 3-years ago. Since I was also having a problem with the ice maker in my 3-year old refrigerator, I asked the technician to fix it (I had previously told someone at All-Brand that I was going to do this). He said he couldn't fix it but would give me a diagnosis. He did. He wrote it up. It said "ICE BAD" and charged me $80. He specifically asked for the check to be made out to cash and said something about sales tax. After he left, I called the contractor. He came over within a half hour, walked up to the dishwasher and pulled it out from under the cabinet, no problem. The technician had told me to call Bosch before I contacted All-Brand again to fix the recall, so I did, within the hour. Bosch said, since All-Brand had not filed the claim, as far as Bosch was concerned they had not completed the work, They said I should call All-Brand. I did and, again, was not allowed to schedule an appointment. I told them I was going to be home all day on Monday and, if their technician was in the area, perhaps he could come do the work. He did come. While repairing dishwasher's electrical system (which is what was recalled) he said the disposal was hooked up to it and that was illegal. He said he had encountered this before, so he was disconnecting my disposal because it was illegal. He then said that since someone was going to have to come out to hook up my disposal, he was not going to put the dishwasher all the way back under the counter. At this point, I was furious. It's OK to stiff NYS on sales tax, but not OK to leave the electrical connections as you found them. If this technician was an electrician, he should have fixed it. Maybe charged me for it, but fixed it. If he wasn't an electrician, he should have cautioned me, but left my kitchen in the same shape he found it. I again called my contractor and got a return call within 15 minutes. The contractor did not personally do the wiring in my kitchen, but hired an experienced licensed electrician to do the work. Both the contractor and I would be astounded if the work was done incorrectly. Now I've got to pay someone to (1) reconnect my disposal and (2) get my dishwasher securely back under the kitchen counter. Furious!

    There was a burning smell coming from our fridge. I called Mike at 9:30 pm - he called back 10 minutes later. Asked questions regarding type of fridge, etc. Told me to pull the grate out of the bottom of the fridge. Lots of dust, dog fur, etc. He told me that was our problem and to vacuum it out. No charge. No diagnosis fee. Amazing.

    I called for service on 6/11, and Paul indicated that he would be at my home the next day (early afternoon) to repair my washer.  He is a man of his word!  He removed the broken part, explained what the problem was, and promptly installed the new part.  Paul is extremely efficient, and knows his stuff.  The repair took approximately 45 minutes, and my washer is working wonderfully.  I would definitely recommend!!

    Went well.  When the company gave me the estimate, they only included the dishwasher installation cost, but the service tech quickly explained & said he would still do the work, he just needed to get some supplies.  He added on some money for the extra work, but gave me a deal.  He was quick & clean & it works great.

    The price was steep: $80 just to walk in the door. However, he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and when he left I had the part numbers and price for the parts I needed, as well as some good advice for my cranky ASKO washers and dryers that came with the house. Based on his advice I shopped around for a new dishwasher and made a selection I am very happy with.

    One should be mindful that this firm also sells appliances, and they'll be more than happy to sell you a new one. When I checked, their prices were pretty steep when comparable models were much cheaper at Lowes at the time. But you can't beat their technical knowledge, at least I haven't found comparable, so I plan to use them in the future for services on appliances I buy elsewhere.

    The fridge was shot. So, he recommended that I purchased a new one and I did. I replaced it. They were prompt and it was easy to get an appointment. They were very open housed. They walked me through it and explained exactly about what the problem was. The service person was great. I got a new fridge ultimately. They did not try and make me do repairs just to get more money out of me. I thought that their price was fair for the service call. The quality of service was good. They came out and did a good job of recommending the correct course of action.

    When my washer died, I immediately called Sears 800 repair service since the machine is a Kenmore model, about 6 yrs old.From the start, it was a very irritating experience since I could not speak with a person - only a computerized system. I really wanted some information as to what I could do until the repairman arrived. The machine had run its cycle, but when I set the dial to an extra spin (to speed the drying time), the machine filled with water and just 'died', leaving me with a laundered load sitting in a tub of water! There was no way to drain the machine in the meantime. I completed the call and was only able to set an appointment for the following Tues. am (the machine died on a Fri. afternoon). Very frustrated at not being able to speak with a person, I called the local Sears, hoping to get some help from a salesperson. Not possible. The person answering the phone at the store # offered assistance, and I explained what I was looking for, with a flat-out lack of help from him. I ended the call and realized I needed a sooner appt. if I was going to be stuck with a filled washer. I called the 800# back and re-scheduled an earlier appt (for Mon noon-4pm). The repairman showed up at 11:30 am (that was okay with me), and did not know he was scheduled for noon-4pm! He thought he was late. After the repair was completed, I was informed that he would really prefer not to be paid with a check, but with a credit card for ease of the transaction. He claimed that it was more complicated getting the check approved and time consuming. As we were trying to complete this transaction, he had a problem with his computer and asked to use our landline phone connection hooked up to his computer.That, in itself, took about 15-20 minutes. The actual repair went okay, apart from the ridiculous charge for labor for such a minimal repair, but my complete frustration was with the lack of customer service that Sears offers.

    Bob's Major Appliance Repair
    We've been using Bob's services for years because he keeps our major appliances running in tip-top shape. First he took apart our Maytag dishwasher to see why the propellers weren't working and found that they were completely clogged with paper (probably from labels on dishes). I was relieved that it was not a major repair. Next, he listened to the funny noise our clothes dryer was making to make sure it was alright. He quickly took it apart and found the belts and rotors were severely worn, which would have caused our dryer to stop completely. Then he went on to our upright freezer. He spent a long time with it and eventually found that it was an electrical problem, not one with the freezer. Most people would have walked away by then and told us to find an electrician, but not Bob. He checked out the circuits breakers but they were all fine and on. (He even took the time to take apart the circuit-breaker box.) He even brought out his electric meter to try to determine which plug had the short in it. After spending some major time on this, he was sorry that the electrical work was beyond him, so he hooked up the freezer to another electric line so it would work while we got an electrician. If Bob can't fix it, no one can--but in this case it wasn't his fault. At least now I know to direct the electrician to the area that has the problem. This gentleman is the best there is in the business. He is the old-fashioned type of repairman who is proud of what he does and works to make sure the customer is getting his moneys worth from the appliance as well as his services. Every time I think he's impressed me he does something else above-and-beyond what's expected of him. Today he did that--but he will probably surprise me again by willing to accomplish the impossible.
