Ophthalmology reviews in Astoria

I wouldn't recommend them because they have way too many patients, and you have to wait a long time. You have to wait about 45 minutes, which is ridiculous. And you see the doctor for a total of five to ten minutes, total.

Although Dr. Mackool seems to be a pretty good surgeon, beware of his billing practices and a few nasty people he has representing his practice. We received a surprise bill of $696.00 many, many months after the second surgery, even though we had been paying MANY co-pays at each post-op visit and we were always told each time we then had a "0" balance. When we inquired as to what this large amount was for, we were yelled at, hung up on, and were told the last post-op appointment we had was cancelled due to "non-payment". If this "doctor" who has sworn to "do no harm" to his patients is that greedy to stop providing continuum of care to one of his surgical patients, we have no respect for him and will never refer him to anyone or return to his office. There are other eye surgeons that are just as good and we will continue care with some one else. After many phone calls to his office and finally to our Insurance Co., it was a rep. from our Insurance that explained the charges to us and stated, "it was very strange how they arrived at this statement this time around as it was not the same after the first surgery in 2008". We paid the bill on January 15, 2010 and our bank made payment on our check on February 3, 2010. On February 17, 2010 we received a call from an attorney's office stating we were being sued by Dr. Mackool for non-payment. We will not apologize for delaying payment until we were given a satisfactory explaination. We as consumers deserve the right to know why we are paying our hard earned money to anyone!

They are eye specialists and they handle cataracts. Their service is very good. They are a well-run eye specialist group.

He was very thorough. He seemed to have a good grasp of what he was doing. I was very impressed.
