    John Santiago Interiors
We just used JSI for a big renovation project in our coop apartment on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. We combined two units together to create a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom with laundry room and separate den/playroom, and we ended up ding an almost full gut renovation of the entire combined space while living there. The entire project took 6 months (including the addition of a second bathroom renovation which was not part of the original plan), and I can honestly say this was the smoothest renovation project Ive ever been through. Lorenzo and his team were skilled, efficient, honest and hard working. They arrived promptly at 9 AM every day and left a 5 PM every day, as per our coop rules. They respected all of the other strict coop rules, followed all of the coops procedures, and our resident manager and building management said they were one of the best contractors theyve worked with. Navigating coop rules for alterations and construction can be a bit of a headache, so the fact that John, Lorenzo and their team could make this part smooth and problem-free was a huge help. Additionally, because we were living in the apartment during the construction, John and Lorenzo were helpful in protecting our living spaces while the work was going on, and were extremely patient with our many requests and questions about the various transitions between work stages, and they were so respectful of our privacy and safety, as we have two young children and wanted to ensure that the production and existence of dust, debris and other dangerous items was controlled. Lorenzo and his team were professional and courteous and nice to our children and caregivers. In terms of the end result of the work, they did a beautiful job. We basically gut renovated the apartment, including a total renovation of two full bathrooms, the creation of a laundry room (with a sink), creation of hallways, new flooring, and bedrooms and closets. We used extremely delicate and high-end marble for the entirety of both bathroom walls and floors, and the work that Lorenzo and his team did on the marble was meticulous and beautiful. The paint job was also very good, as was the carpentry. Any issues we discovered were addressed promptly. My favorite part about working with John was how responsive he was. He answered texts, emails and phone calls promptly. He was genuine and really cared about the quality of the service and the work. And thats not something that should be considered lightly, as my past experiences of working with contractors and other service providers was quite the opposite. John was honest and direct about issues, timelines, tactics, etc. John was also on the job site at least once a week throughout most of the project checking on progress, keeping in communication with our building management and super, and would come to the city on an ad hoc basis whenever we requested. We strongly recommend John Santiago Interiors, in particular Lorenzo and his team. We have absolutely nothing negative to say about them as they made an inherently difficult situation as smooth and pain free as possible. We were sad to see them go!

We wanted to turn our shed into a backyard studio space for working on creative projects. David did the job quickly and created a beautiful space. He is a pleasure to work with and I felt very comfortable putting my trust in him! I'd definitely recommend him to others and will be hiring him in the future.

    Connection & Contracting
David started in February 2016 and our two families moved into the top two floors by mid-September 2016. It would have been sooner if the plumbers (different company that I hired independently from David) had done a better/faster job. That's a pretty quick turn-around for such a large project with so many moving pieces. We are very happy with the results. David was totally committed to the project, gave me good advice at critical moments, and we easily worked through the very few times we disagreed on how something should be done. He's a great contractor, and he's also a very honest and good person. I recommend him to everyone I can.

    Express Floor Caring
Francis was polite and courteous. He addressed all my concerns and made all repairs I requested. The floors had been done in the past by someone who didn't know what they were doing, so were full of divots and swirl marks. Francis got them all level, and gave it three coats of polyurethane. 1,000 sf apartment, about 2 days of work. Beautifully done. I would highly recommend this company.

    Progress
Ivan and roman done great work! Very professional. Showed up on time were very tidy and accommodating with any changes that I wanted. They even went above and beyond to make sure the work was done within the time frame I needed. When the delivery for the floor was delayed by 2 weeks they drove all the way to new jersy to pick up the floor in the only store that had it. Would definitely hire again!

On The Level Design & Construction LLC
After months of delaying a much needed gut bathroom renovation, my husband and I were ready to finally jump in and get started in very late November 2015.  After countless hours spent researching both design options and contractors, we selected On The Level due to their overwhelmingly positive Angie's List reviews and their great website.
David Bryant came to our home and discussed our design and product options (we have a standard, small NYC style bathroom). After an honest estimate and assessment of the scope of the work, we were provided with a comprehensive emailed estimate that included both labor and materials. Considering that my husband and I had looked at hundreds of tile options, shower configurations and bathroom fixtures both online and in store for months prior to meeting David, I was very pleased with the way On The Level worked.  I really liked this idea-the quoted budget included parts and labor.  By directing us to a supplier website, On The Level essentially guided us in the right direction and we were able to pick out the entire bathroom from scratch from an extensive range of products and manufacturers. Once our products were selected, we went to On The Level's office to meet with David to discuss product availability as well as the aesthetics of our selected pieces and arrange a timeline of the work to be done.
As stated previously, this was a gut bathroom renovation, and I couldn't have been more impressed with the honesty and trustworthiness of the workers on our job.   Our old bathroom had to be completely ripped out and we were concerned we might be told there were unplanned extras or "issues" which weren't part of the quote (which happens all too often with unscrupulous contractors.)  However, the staff at On The Level were forthright and totally honest and told us the foundation was in good standing and therefore there were no hidden extras.
When the renovation first kicked off, we came home on day one to see that all our floors and doorways were carefully covered with plastic tarp, and our 2 sets of stairs and front door were also papered so as to ensure against damage.  It was obvious the staff at On The Level were very courteous and extremely conscientious and it was for this reason that we trusted the workers to work alone and unsupervised during the day.  We had keys copied for the workers so they could come and go as needed, and we left on vacation for a week during the renovation because we completely trusted the crew.
By the completion of the project, we ended up with a beautiful bathroom and overall a great experience.  On The Level did not rush the job; if anything, they took their time to ensure their work was perfect.  It is for this reason we anticipate using On The Level for our kitchen renovation in the near future.  David Bryant and the entire staff at On The Level are trustworthy, honest, reliable and fair.  Thank you David and crew!!  We appreciate everything you did for us.

    Gotham Builders of New York
I would highly recommend Gotham Builders of NY, Ltd. Their policy is customer satisfaction from start to finish of the project. Gotham installed a new ceiling, floor and kitchenette in our basement. Our first contact with Gotham was with Jay, one of the top managers. He quickly and immediately responded to our request for a meeting due to our tight timeframe. At this time, we were remodeling our basement bathroom from a different contractor. Jay offered to dispose of the trash left from the contractor into his dumpster. We appreciated his offer since this was a burden on us.
During the entire project, Jay was in constant communication via visits, calls and/or emails to address our questions and concerns. Also, Eddie, the supervisor, of the project, and his crew were excellent. They were professional, flexible, concerned and responsive to all of our questions and issues. The crew was on time and if delayed, Eddie would call. The price was a little high for us but fair and the job came out to our satisfaction. This is a company you can trust to finish a job.

    Progress
This is my fourth time hiring Progress. When they quote you a price, that is what you pay. They are not one of those contractors that keep raising the price as they go. They show up every day, working efficiently and quickly. The basement looks beautiful. They did a great job on this basement that used to look incredibly run-down and ugly. It looks like any other room in the house now, not like a basement. Also of note, they will give you suggestions to help you stick with your budget. I have 2-3 more projects left as I renovate my little old house, and I will continue to hire them. Very pleased.
