    The Buffalo General Hospital
He had a chest tube inserted at bedside and as a result he contracted a MRSA infection. When he was readmitted they would not listen to me that there was something more wrong with him. I was being told it was one of three things, it was either withdrawal from pain medication, a syndrome that people go through when they have surgery or it was withdrawal from alcohol. What happened was I happened to know some people in the healthcare industry and my husband was a pretty prominent businessman in the area and I was able to get my husband transferred at 11:00 at night over to the intensive care unit. After having him examined twice by 2 regulars, both of them saying that they didn't feel that my husband was a candidate for the intensive care unit. After pulling the strings that I did and getting him into the intesive care unit, I then proceeded to go home and at 1:00 in the morning. At 3:00 in the morning I got a call from Buffalo General asking me to return, my husband had taken a turn for the worse and they didn't expect him to live through the nigh. Now, a MRSA infection is at that time only contracted in the hospital and it is due to non-sanitary conditions. In other words, it was dirty. The resident that put the chest tube in was totally unprepared to do the procedure bedside. He didn't have a stethoscope, he didn't have the right needles. The nurses were unprepared, didn't know what to do bedside. It was a totally incompetent procedure. Up until he got into the intestive care unit, I would give them all F. After that, things went better.

They're very accommodating and helpful because I had a certain medication that I needed that I wasn't sure to find in the area. So, I would call through the other pharmacies, and they're working to be able to obtain it within a period of time, and Walgreens was able to through their suppliers get it and got it within a very short period of time.

    Primary Care of Western NY
I had no problems with them. It's a doctor's office and the doctors there, they listen, they don't get appointments, you don't have to wait or anything. You can just walk right in there after you get an appointment but you can typically get in the same day. They are really good; they are not giving you a hard time. They will still see you but they you want to make an appointment for physical.

Went well. Staff were excellent and professional and very nice. Always willing to help. Improvements need to be made with check in area of delivery. Two general areas are just placed in waiting area- weird and impersonal.

    WNY Immediate Care
I was quickly greeted by the receptionist and filled out the necessary paperwork, and waited about 45 minutes to be seen. A nurse did my vitals and history, then I waited for the doctor. The doctor examined my hand and ordered an x-ray. Turns out I had broken the finger (no kidding), they prescribed some prescription pain meds, bandaged me up and told me to get a referral from my primary to an ortho.
After leaving I went to a 24-hour pharmacy to fill the script. The pharmacist told me that the painkiller could cause a reaction with meds I was already on (and reported during my history). At that point WNY Immediate Care was closed, so it was ibuprofen for me until the next day.
The ortho didn't seem too impressed with their work either. She drained the fluid buildup underneath what was left of my nail and gave me supplies to change the bandages regularly.
I might return to them, but next time I might just try the emergency room.

    Independent Health
I have had Independent Health as my health insurance provider since I started my current job (about 1.5 - 2 years now). They have been very helpful whenever I have had to call with a question, which is rare because they have a very user friendly website. They take a very active involvement in there members health and wellness having many different options ( i.e. debit cards that can be applied to gym memberships) for their members.

    Millard Fillmore Suburban Hosp
2From the reception desk and throughout the pre-surgical testing I was treated with respect and compassion. There was on nurse post-surgery who was less than responsive to my needs (some mix-up with the pain medication getting from the pharmacy to the room), which made the immediate post-surgery less comfortable than it could have been. The hospital is clean and menu room service! I felt very well cared for and my surgery was a complete success and long overdue. 4

I really appreciate their mail order service.  All I need to do is call them, speak to a pharmacist, and they will mail out my medication -- and they don't charge for mailing it.  When I do receive my medication from them when I am in the building, they are always efficient and informative.

The doctor I used was good. I used him for my other shoulder in the past, so I used him again. I had a very difficult surgery and it came out pretty good. I was in and out. The hospital is a nice place and I am happy there.

    Independent Health
One doctor ordered an MRI which required pre-approval which Independent Health denied me. Their explanation was that I had not given physical therapy enough of a chance to see if that would help, even though I had attended several physical therapy appointments. I was miffed at the time when they denied the MRI, but in hindsight it probably was the correct decision because my back slowly, slowly cleared up on its own -- probably because I stopped going to physical therapy and just allowed it to heal at its own pace.
