    City Fence Inc
if you want to start with someone you can trust, give City Fence a call. we had City Fence remove a wood fence and install vinyl about a year and a half ago. we were extremely happy with the workmanship that was done. we decided to have our rear fence removed and replaced with vinyl this year.  again, they did a fantastic job.  the installers were very professional and we can't say enough about the owner, john.  give them a call, you won't be sorry.  you'll have a fence to be proud of.

John gave me excellent customer service. He came out to my house three times over the last few years to give me an estimate. Each time he was just as pleasant and helpful as he was the time before - very patient. I wanted to cut costs so I had various plans and fences I wanted to go over. John went over each plan and gave an estimate. I wound up doing the whole back yard. Any additional questions after he left he got right back with me either by phone/email in a timely manner. The work crew was just as pleasant and professional. Thy did an incredible job. The back yard looks great. After a year the fence still looks as good as new. You can't go wrong with City Fence.

Dan was right on time for our appointment to give me an estimate. I had the final estimate within a day. After a few weeks, they got the material in for my job, and called to schedule an installation date. On the day of the install, Pat was actually a few minutes early. He reviewed the job with me and asked me questions throughout the job to make sure things were just as I wanted. He was professional and courteous. I have called Iroquois Fence and had them give me a few quotes over the past 2 years. All my dealings with them have been great. They are always good about being available or returning my calls promptly. I wish I had used them to begin with to install all my fencing. Great job all around!

    The Vinyl Outlet
Last year I contacted them for an estimate to install a vinyl fence at my new house. After 30 minutes of waiting around after my appointment time, I called them asking where they were. They seemed to be clueless as to my appointment to meet with them and said it would be another hour before they could have someone come out and meet me. When they did finally show up, a kid (literally maybe 20 years old) gets out of a 2 door coupe with torn jeans. I was pretty much speechless. He did the estimate right on the spot with minimal information (I could picture the final costs skyrocketing past my estimate if I was dumb enough to choose them). Needless to say, I went with someone else.

Unfortunately, the company I went with has turned out to be probably 10 times worse then if I had gone with Vinyl outlet (see my review of Guardian Fences). Because I this fact, I was looking to get some other fence work done this year. My disgust with Guardian Fences had me again seeking out fence contractors. Reluctantly, I called The Vinyl Outlet again to see if they would do any better this time with giving me an estimate. When I called, they said they were very busy and that it could take up to 2 weeks to have someone get back to me to do the estimate. After 3 weeks had gone by, I called them again to find out when someone would be getting to me. All I got was the run around via an automated phone answering system. I felt like I was calling customer service to some huge corporation, not the local fence contractor. After following the correct prompts I was sent to some womans voicemail, which was full and no longer accepting messages. I called back to leave a message in their general mailbox. Over a month later, I am still waiting on that call back. This company has either expanded and not hired enough people to support their larger business or they just don't care. Either way, I won't be calling them ever again.

    Guardian Fences of WNY Inc
Overall, one of the worst experiences I have been through as a customer. I contracted Guardian in the Feb 2010. Initially, the owner (Tony), said all the right things. He promised  that because I signed a contract early he would have all the material available & be able to do the work when I wanted.

Day 1, Tony & the foreman (Nelson) said they would take 3-4 days to complete the fence & another week to install the gates. 6 weeks later, the fence was finally finished! Over the 6 weeks I had to constantly hound Tony as to why no one was showing up to finish the job. There was always an excuse as to how the crew had to work on a different project, or how he was waiting on material, etc, etc. I would point out things that were not to my satisfaction & they would dismiss my concerns & tell me that I didn't want it that way or it had to be done way because of whatever. The guys would leave garbage & cigarette butts in my lawn. The foreman even took the travel mug my wife gave him coffee in! I think Tony knew I was getting really angry because he promised to five make me a nice vinyl mailbox to match my fence for free. Of course, I never got the mailbox. I expressed  my dissatisfaction with the whole process in a scathing letter that I sent them with my final payment. The only response I got was a call from their secretary stating that there were many factors of their business that I did not know if that was an ok excuse for their actions. I told myself that all the mistakes I saw in the fence was just me nit-picking because I was so frustrated with them.

After the winter weather cause some minor damage (due to their shotty install), and I had some people (a landscaper, another local fence contractor & family/neighbors) point out how bad some parts looked, I contacted Guardian in May of this year to address the new issues that developed over the winter & the old issues I was still unhappy about. After several phone calls I had someone get back to me over a week later. The man I spoke to (I can't remember his name) again said all the right things. He said that they really wanted to make me happy & that someone would contact me by the end of the week. By the middle of the next week I still had not heard from anyone & no one returned my calls, so I stopped into their shop unannounced. I met with the same man that I had spoken to on the phone & told him in detail what was wrong (even drawing him pictures). He assured me that I was now at the top of the list & that they would contact me in a few days.

Over a week & several phone calls later, I was finally able to get Tony & Nelson to meet me at my house.  They again dismissed my concerns & told me that I wouldn't want it that way. He was audacious enough to suggest that he warned me about installing the 1 gate I had, when it was him that talked me into installing that type of gate. He offered me $150 towards bringing in some topsoil (to cover up the mistake I was most upset about) & told me they would be back soon to fix the outstanding issues. I told him I would think about the $150. After another month of not hearing from anyone I email them with another scathing report of how poorly they were addressing my issues & giving me nothing but empty promises. In response I got a 2 sentence email from Tony saying that he was only aware of one issue & that they would fix it within 2 weeks. My last contact with them was on 6/15/11 in response to that email. I explicitly listed each major problem, the solution I was looking for & my actions if they did not attempt to repair the fence in a timely manner. I have not been contacted my anyone from Guardian since.  I have filed a complaint with the BBB in an attempt to get some action out of them.

Literally, every promise they have given me from day 1 has been unfulfilled. Their craftsmanship is terrible. Their customer service is even worse. I paid them over $14K, but have gotten no where near that in materials, labor, craftsmanship & customer service. Do your research.  There are now plenty of bad reviews on these guys from other dissatisfied customers. Stay away!

Mark is very professional and the installation of the ence was efficient and when I needed it.  But a3 months later when I needed him to come back, he wouldn't come back.
