AGarden State Home RemodelingWe purchased a home that was over 108 years old and needed a complete gut renovation for all 3 floors. We met with John Fiore and were very impressed with his responsiveness, flexibility, and partnership throughout this massive project. He responded to calls, email and texts within minutes, was always available and communicative through the process (which is hard to find but so valued, especially as we were living about 1.5 hours away during the renovation). John always did the right thing for the project (either proactively letting us know when changes needed to be made or absorbing costs into the project). For example, the floors got damaged during demo when combining two rooms. He just gave us new floors without asking us to pay because it was the right thing to do. Also, his team was meticulous about laying tiles, mapping out electrical, etc. If we had a problem or didn’t like something, they fixed it at no additional cost. John was so patient and calming throughout the renovation. One thing everyone warned us about was planning for the budget to double through a project this big. John’s team kept such meticulous track of the expenses (including light fixture, tiles, etc) and we actually received a credit towards our project because we stayed under budget for most of our selections. This is completely unheard of and I am so impressed with how organized their processes are. We really felt that Garden State made a big and challenging construction process as positive of an experience as possible. We hired them to do our back deck and have referred them to many of our friends and neighbors who have been blown away by the renovation of our hike. They handled everything from helping with an architect and planning, from demo to final inspection perfectly. Ambassador is a very professional, knowledgable, honest company. The owner Gary, our project manager Doug, the office team and crew are always there, on site or on the phone, on top of it all! We are so happy with the company, with our beautiful home. FWe contacted Remodel Magic in response to their promotion on Angie's list. They were very responsive and came over to provide an estimate rather quickly. They did not want to honor the Angie's list promotion, adding costs to the quote for different requests that we had like changing the toilet from flushometer to tank (+1500) and including the ceiling drywall (+800) as part of the gut renovation. The biggest issue we had with them is that they wanted 96% of the project paid for on day 1 of starting the project. We have worked with many other contractors and this is not standard practice. Also they made it seem like they would be accepting the job as a favor quote "to help someone in need". Really unprofessional, disappointing, and not to mention disrespectful. $9k for a bathroom reno is not what I would call helping someone in need.

FWhen the snow/ice had melted, you could see that whatever machinery they used, dug up 1/3 of my blacktop driveway and tore out 2 of my Belgium block edging. There are chunks of asphalt piled on top of each other on the left side of my driveway. The broken up asphalt is also on my neighbor’s lawn, and my walkway from the driveway. Now I have to get an estimate on how much it will be to patch my driveway, which I’m hoping can be done. I’m hoping I do not have to have my 4 car driveway replaced.
