Skylight Installation reviews in Reno

Black Rock Window & Door Inc.
Was referred to Black Rock by Velux USA for servicing in November 2016. They sent a technician out. He said they would be able to repair the skylights. Got an emailed quote in January 2017, it stated parts would be available in May or June. Just called a week ago to keep in touch. Was told the original sales person was no longer with the company but the new salesperson said he found my quote and would handle it. He called today to renege on the quote saying the company's owners weren't interested in doing this kind of a job. Also reneged on their separate quote to replace the failed seal on the other window. The owners didn't even have the courtesy to call and apologize themselves. Lost 5 months because of these people and not so much as an apology. Dishonorable company and owners.

Amazingly well. Workers showed up promptly in the morning, worked very diligently and cleaned up at the end of the day before leaving. Kyle Bridges (Steves son) is amazing--very careful and precise worker--a person you can't help but like. I have now dealt with the Bridges since May of this year. We did not realize the scale of the job ahead. It started with some painting and a couple of walls and grew. I would hire Bridges construction again without hesitation. This is my very first recommendation of anyone and am very pleased it has been such a positive experience.

    Rod The Roofer Inc
Rod and his crew removed the skylight and filled in the space with new roofing materials.  He was able to blend in new shingles to match the existing shingles.  From the outside you would never know that a major section of the roof is new.  Rod was able to clearly explain what the inside of the space would look like when he completed his work and what work we would need to have the interior finished.

Rod's team was completely professional.  As a matter of fact, I came home from work to discover that they had completed the task.  Every trace was hauled away and the site was left completely clean.

    Burke Roofing Inc
When we first contracted with Burke Roofing, we had intended to only replace the roof tiles. After looking over product materials, it was decided that we would also install two skylights. The skylights are solar powered, so they open, have screens, and power shades; none of which require electrical connections. The day of the skylight install, we decided to also install two sun tunnels. Upon seeing how much light the sun tunnels provide in the bathrooms, we requested a third sun tunnel, which was installed that afternoon. Instead of simply forming a box from the roof, to the ceiling, as some installers will do, Burke's installer formed out the box so the inside slants with the trusses, providing a tremendous amount of light. The skylights are wonderful, they are high quality, fully solar, and qualify for a 30% federal tax credit!
We are extremely pleased with the customer service, attention to detail (they draped plastic around the inside of their working area to limit dust during the skylight and sun tunnel install), and very friendly and responsive employees.  Mr. Burke even made a visit during the install to make sure we were happy!

    Bridges Construction Inc
We recently bought this home and the kitchen was enclosed, dark with older oak cabinets. We knew we wanted a new kitchen but were not sure how to proceed. We had some remodeling help from a cabinet company and our design helper recommended Steve Bridges Construction.. Steve gave us a detailed estimate and we let him know what we wanted. Getting to know Steve we feft very comfortable with his experience and knowledge.  We were not sure how to open up the kitchen but  Steve and his team took out most of a wall creating a large archway  to open the kitchen to the rest of the living area. The effect is amazing.
They also took out and disposed of all the old cabinets. They  installed two skylight in the kitchen and created archways on  existing door ways to match the new large arch in the kitchen. We needed an electrition and a plumber and Steve found us some quality helpers.
During the  process, all the workers were professional, hard working and did great work.. Steve was always available if we needed to talk and made a point of coming to the house almost daily to check on the process.
We are very happy with the results and would not hesitate to  recommend Steve Bridges Construction.

    Reno Renovators
Todd is great.  He's punctual, creative, friendly, fairly-priced, professional and very capable.  I've had some lingering projects for years, and every time I consulted a "professional", they never came up with a complete solution and usually never followed through with a bid.  Todd took his time to figure out exactly what to do, who to use for each segment of the job, what to charge, etc.  He always kept in touch and he even did some of the work himself.  It felt great to find a contractor I can trust and I'll definitely recommend Reno Renovators to friends and use them again for future projects.  All the subs he used were professional, courteous and careful not to leave nails or other hazards around for our kids.  I never felt uncomfortable at all with all the people who came and went in our home.  I give Reno Renovators five stars!

Their price was very reasonable. He'd come highly recommended, so we used them. They did a good job. They cleaned up as well as they could and they did a good job on the roof. They took about the same amount of days that they said they would take.

    Burke Roofing Inc
I own a home that was built in 1979 that had old wood shake roofing on it. I called 6 local roofing companies for estimates to replace the wood with composition shingles. Of the 6 companies, only three returned my call. Burke Roofing was the first to contact me for an appointment, was the most knowledgable and was the most attentive to my needs. Their price was fair in comparison to the other two bids I received and when I asked, they readily provided proof of insurance. Unlike the other 2 roofing companies, Burke always answered my questions and didn't make me feel stupid for asking them! They showed up on time, finished the job when they said they would and left my yard spotless! Everyone I dealt with was professional and helpful. They did a beautiful job and I love my new roof!

    Custom Glass Distributors Inc
Sent an estimator out almost two months ago. I called back asking where the estimate was after couple of weeks passed. Was advised that the estimator lost his work sheet. After a day or so they finally found worksheet. Estimator had mis-measured items, forgot to add items, and added items not requested. I made a special trip and drove to their offices to review the estimate and put a deposit down. Almost choked on the Price.......seems they messed up the estimate and had to re-do it. After picking my and quot;frustratedand quot; self off the floor, I gave them an $1,800.00 down payment. Waited and waited. they finally called and informed me that they had ordered had just been placed (a month by now?). By the way, had to argue with them as they wanted me to pay for something they ordered, but I hadn't asked for. Oversight on my part since I didn't see the mistake (among the many) when I signed the contract. Now they show up last week, do most of the work (approx 7 weeks). The shower leaks so they will have to come back to re-caulk. Also couldn't complete the work because they were in a hurry leaving their shop and forgot a piece of glass. To top it all off, I as was looking at some of the glass shelving they brought that still needs to be installed, I noticed that they have the wrong measurements for three of the pieces, which means they will have to take the glass back and re-cut it........probably another 2 week delay. By the way, I asked them for some bevelled mirror strips to frame a couple of the mirrors in the bathroom. They had never heard of such a thing before.....and they're a glass and mirror company. Have had this done by other glass/mirror companies in the past, but this company had never heard of it. :-(

I wouldn't use this company again on a bet. The other contractors working on my house have watched this circus and just shake their heads.
