  • Dr. Reece Jones evaluated me for my allergy issues. Very thorough and explained options for injections versus sublingual drops which were not available with my previous provider. Great bedside manner. Easy to understand.

  • I am so glad, so relieved to have such an excellent specialist. Parking at this location - 645 N Arlington Ave - isn't a favorite of mine but as far as OB/GYN Associates, I've been very happy with everyone from check in, check out, scheduling and of course Dr. Hald and her assistant. Everyone is attentive, friendly and professional.

  • She's got an excellent personality, one of the best doctors you'd want to deal with. She's very easy to talk to, great bedside manner and sense of humor. She's really easygoing and friendly and takes time to give you all of the information you need. Her office is right across from the hospital. They take care of everything, they even set me up with a place to stay while I was there for my surgery.

  • Within about 10 days of canceling my appointment, I was ready to
reschedule my appointment, but Great Basin seemed to have disappeared off the
face of the earth.  Website was wrong, phone number connected to some
'ghost' recording (answered with an echoey St. Mary's something or other) and
advised that I call some other time as no one was available to take my call.
Took about a week to get through to a human (an accommodating, nice
woman), who told me that Great Basin no longer exists, that my insurance wouldn't
cover a visit to Dr. Calvanese, and that I find another physician.  Now
why in the world wouldn't Great Basin have advised its patients of the change?
A short letter?  Information on their website?  Even
information when I cancelled?  Why wouldn't the doctor have sent a little
note to her patients?  I went to the new office on Elm; that supercilious
receptionist (over the years, I've cringed when I've sen him at the window)
told me that it was my responsibility to find out that they moved and that my
insurance wouldn't cover their services.  I get the insurance bit, but
HUH?  How could we have known they were moving unless they informed us.
Furious?  Yes.  Perplexed?  Yes, indeed.  Who acts
like this?  Thank goodness I don't have any immediate need. That
receptionist told me, when I asked him, what we were expected to do were we in
need of a doctor's appointment or prescription renewal.  He said, go to
ER; they can get your meds for you.  Isn't that what we are trying to
    avoid?

  • They fitted me for a mask before the study even started. Results were a 5 minute graph of a 7 hr study. Woke me up in the middle of the test to put the mask on. This has not happened to anyone I have ever talked to that took a sleep study.
I believe their only purpose is to sell sleep studies and masks. Talk to St Mary's or Renown. Even if you have to wait.

  • For the following reason, I gave a D for availability. it was very difficult to get into see one of the M.D.'s in the SNG group initially.  If you have acute pain, it can take months to get an appointment unless you find an alternative way in the door. So, when the pain is killing you, good luck; it doesn't seem to make any difference to the SNG schedulers.
For the following reason, I gave a D for punctuality. When I was finally seen on the 18th, the wait was 1-1/2 hours in the waiting room before I got into the consultation/examination room. That's inexcusable.
SNG gets A's for the medical environment, the bedside manner of Dr. Jacob Blake (the pain specialist) and his communication skills. He was very informative and took as much time as was necessary to answer all of my questions as well as my husband's. His knowledge also seemed impressive and I am confident that staying with him in the future is a wise move. He was easy to be with and also had a sense of humor about himself. He did not take himself too seriously. He has already gained my trust and that's very important. I feel I will be in good hands with him.
Staff friendliness in the back office garnered a B. I didn't really connect with any one of them and I usually do. They were very busy that day, however.
If I would have had to rate the staff person in the front office who sits behind the window, she would have gotten a D. I found her communication skills to be poor. She also seemed flippant in the sense that after at least 3 encounters with her, on every occasion she was always conversing with another employee during the time she was supposed to be attending to me. Also, my medical records, given to her the first time I was in, were lost somewhere along the way. I don't know whose fault that was but since they were put in her hands initially, I have to think that combined with her seemingly disinterested attitude, I'd have to bet on her.

  • I am a tough grader - and, of course, because I was born in 1947 I have been spoiled by the client centered, friendly, approach of the past and so see current medical treatment as a production-line approach.

  • I love this place.  Everyone I have met there are super friendly and understanding.  They explain everything and make me feel comfortable.  Going through fertility treatments are difficult and it is amazing that they make it seem painless (or as painless as is possible!)

  • The office staff is always kind and helpful. The office itself is clean and inviting. The real reason we love it so much though are Dr. Smokey and Marla, her assistant. It was a happy coincidence that Dr. Smokey happened to be on call when my younger son was born, so she took him on as a patient. Though she is overbooked, she took on my older son as well. My husband, who is a surgeon at Carson Tahoe hospital, was very pleased at this development because she has an excellent reputation amongst the other physicians at the hospital. She has correctly diagnosed bone disorders missed by other doctors. She trained at a very difficult residency that has prepared her for just about anything!

Back to our experience though - my kids love her. Both she and her nurse, Marla, are super friendly and put children at ease. They are both so patient and kind. Any question I throw at her, she is ready with a thoughtful answer that is never condescending. She even recommended a helpful book when I asked for any advice for handling the burgeoning obstinate behavior in my toddler.

Going to Dr. Smokey's office is, by far, the most positive experience I have ever had in going to a doctor.
