Orlando did a fabulous job. My house is 111 years old and I was fearful about using my fireplaces until he did work. Now I have no worries about using them! Right on time, very reasonably priced and responded immediately to all phone calls. He came back to point some very bad spots around my entire home and I will call him again when I need him!

Lack of communication, professionalism, making up excuses, and meeting deadlines are by far their areas of problems. They would promise to show up and wouldn't, would not return calls, texts, or emails and took frequent breaks when they did show up. I hired them on April 29th and fired them on June 5th. I finally told them not to come back to save my stress level with trying to get them to work. The patio tile job, estimated at two days of work, stretched out to over a month and still not completed. If they showed up, they would show up at 11:00 and then leave at 3:00 because it was hot. I had a written contract to have the job completed by May 25th, and then extended to May 31st. by me. They couldn't meet either deadline. I had a huge party planned on June 10th - with a half done backyard. In fairness, the work they did complete was of an adequate quality. Also, as a nonsmoker, I was disgusted to see my backyard littered with cigarette butts, as at least one of the grandsons was a smoker. It is sad that the grandfather built his company over 30 years and is now trying to retire and turn over his company to his grandsons. They are not ready to take it on and continue the level of work he produced. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

My original meeting with Sam was great.  He seemed interested and and excited about the plan.  The project included installing an artificial grass area, building a raised flower garden, extending and staining the patio and building a pergola that would attach to the house and would extend the living area of the patio.  The project was also to included replacing old plants and planting grapes near new pergola and then checking and repairing existing sprinkler system. The new grass area and concrete border came out great.  The raised flower bed was okay but workers made a mess with mortar and did not do a cleanup.  The  fellow that Sam contracted for the pergola was great and he designed and built a unique one of a kind pergola which should last for years.  The major problem with the project was the patio concrete extension and staining.  The concrete cracked within a few days and Sam's idea for the fix was to put rebar around the patio to hold everything in place.  We should have insisted he rip it out and fix it right.  We never did get the grapes as promised and the sprinkler system has never worked correctly since.

l contacted Orlando and he returned my call and came by to look at the damage later that same afternoon. We discussed repair options and he gave me a verbal estimate of the cost. The next day he called and came by the house with a detailed written proposal for the work to be done and the cost which was what we had verbally discussed previously. Orlando said he would schedule us for the following week and would call a couple of days in advance to let us know the day and time he would start. He came when he said he would come, took the time he said the job would take (most of two days), did excellent work, cleaned up all the mess and came by the following day to ensure that we were happy with the work. We paid 30% when he started the work and the remainder upon completion. We were extremely impressed with Orlando's craftsmanship and business professionalism. It was a pleasure to do business with him and we would call him first for any masonry needs.

We were searching on Angie's List for a stone mason who could visualize the design we were trying to achieve, The low stone walls were a challenge because we wanted them to look as though they were and quot;dry setand quot;, that is, set without mortar. When we were explaining the idea to Orlando at the time of our initial meeting, he seemed a bit dubious, but agreed that he would work with us and if we weren't satisfied, he'd work until we were happy! When the day came for him to begin the project, he called and said he'd be a little late. The fact that he was business-like enough to telephone impressed me greatly. As the work progressed, this same attitude prevailed, even though we asked him to make some modifications that required him to remove some of his completed work.
Actually, I think the name of his company ought to be changed to something like and quot;Artistic Masonryand quot; because he was so meticulous and concerned that each piece of stone be laid so that it presented the most attractive side. He frequently would stand off at a distance to check that the work was beautiful.
When finished, the yard was cleaned up of all construction debris and made ready for plant installation.
We have some additional work to be done and will certainly call Orlando to do it!

I had a very good interaction with them.  It was a very good experience.  They were quite professional.  They showed up when they were supposed to.  They worked straight through the job, to the end.  It took them close to three weeks to finish it.  I was impressed with them.  I highly recommend them.

    RJB Construction
The job started with several discussions on schedule and an estimate of cost.  The estimate was very fair, and the work started right away.  One major concern we had due to experiences with other contractors was that workers would start on a job, then disappear for a while on a different job, and the work would take forever to complete.  This did not happen at all with RJB.  There were workers at the house nearly every single day working all day for over a month and a half.  There were no issues on schedule at all; in fact, getting all of the work that we requested done in about 6 weeks was (in my wife's words) a small miracle.  Each part of the project was scheduled and coordinated to be efficient, which resulted in minimal waiting time between tasks.  For example, as soon as the roof schedule was determined, the heating and cooling subcontractor was on the job, completing the work before the roofing contractor would be in the way. And the ceiling repairs were done while the back-porch rebuild was also in-progress.  The stucco repairmen and the painters and the framers were all quick and professional, and very personable, nice, and friendly, people.  They cleaned up the jobsite(s) at every chance; even raking the dirt on the side of the house before they left, which is something we haven't done since we moved in 17 years ago.  All in all, this job was very well managed, very professional, and a good value for the quantity and quality of work performed.  Roy was very professional, even pointing out recommendations where they made sense such as removing two clerestory windows that were causing problems with leaking.  We would have never thought of actually removing the windows, but when it was said and done, we were amazed at how much better it actually looked.  In summary, we are very pleased with the work done, and would recommend  Roy Brown and RJB Construction for all your remodeling needs.

Straightline Masonry did an excellent job. The quality of the work is outstanding. They did everything that was in the contract, started work mostly on time, and worked hard (no goofing off). They cleaned up the yard after they were done. Very professional and I would recommend this company.

Overall I feel like part of the crew he used was inexperienced which caused unnecessary damages. Further, he doesn't check on his crew's  work as often as he should. If he did we would not be writing this report. The job would have been done properly to begin with. I tried to tell him about these problems as they occurred and couldn't get a reply in a timely manner.

The overall job was excellent! The head worker, Ramon, was who I dealt with the entire time. He is not the company owner, but supervisor. He was very professional, very nice, and the entire crew did a great job. The first day, Ramon only showed up b/c the other workers were on another job, but he showed up and immediately started working on his own until the crew arrived. Each day they showed before the scheduled time (720a instead of 8a) and worked until between 4-5p. They removed the existing rod iron fence with no charge and with absolutely no damage to the fencing. They even repaired some areas in the existing wall as requested with no problems. They made sure all messes were completely cleaned up in both my yard and our nieghbor's, since they needed access to that side of the wall. Ramon also worked with us on the price estimate and came down on it twice. Keep in mind, it is cheaper to build a taller wall from the start, than to add more to an existing wall, so don't let the price discourage you if you do not have an existing wall yet. Ramon currently subs for our home builder out here, but is trying to get outside personal jobs as well. We were his first and I HIGHLY recommend him. He even offered his services in landscaping and said he would match or beat anyone's estimate. We may be consider him for that as well.
