Hospital Care reviews in Las Cruces

The doctor was amazing, professional and very informative. Since I was from out of town I was able to get an MRI and biopsy scheduled for the same day so I wouldn't have to go back for those extra tests.

We went to the Memorial Medical Center Emergency Room on the night of Sept. 30. After the initial admssion paperwork was completed, my wife was triaged within 30 minutes. Even though there were few patients waiting in the lobby, we had to wait about six hours with my wife suffering from severe pain before she was taken back into the ER for evaluation and treatment. After a CT scan, blood tests, urinalysis, etc., the diagnosis was an acute kidney infection. She was given injections for the pain and two 250 mg Cipro tablets and released mid morning on Oct. 1. We found no fault in the professionalism and bedside manner of the nurses, technicians, and doctors. However, the billing for ER services was outrageously inflated. Medicare and our supplemental insurance took care of the charges (at Medicare approved rates) with the exception of $42.50 for the two Cipro pills. We got a full prescription of Cipro (14 pills) for $4.21 without an insurance copay from our pharmacy later that day. This is just a small example of how hospitals are overcharging for services, supplies and drugs.. Patients are at the mercy of the hospital adminstrators with no recourse but to pay these unreasonable charges. We would use the ER services at MMC again because we feel the medical care provided is good.

It was easy to schedule an appointment. The business office informed me a few days before the appointment how much my co-pay would be. I was feeling stressed when I came in for the procedure and the staff helped me feel somewhat relaxed. I received the results of the procedure immediately. If I needed any other procedures or hospitalization, I would go there.

Attending Doctor had no bedside manners and billing department is a joke....would recommend to anyone looking for hospital to use another in Las Cruces.
Attending Doctor wouldn't sign death certificate which put my family in pending for over 2 weeks trying to get my husband cremated....

I thought they're thorough and provide an excellent service. The care that you get there is good. They saved my life. The staff is good. All hospitals are short-staffed, I'm sure, but I didn't feel that when I was there. They were adequate. They certainly have a very good team for cardiac emergency. They have a group of nurses and doctors ready to go and they're just excellent. They're very professional, very precise. I just give them big kudos on their abilities to deal with anybody having a heart attack or anything like that. They were on standby when I got there. They had a special room that they brought you in to, a cardiac emergency care unit. I was very impressed.

I had a really bad ear infection. I went to Mountainview Regional Medical Center ER. I work with hospitals so I know that when you go to an ER you won't get out the back right away - unless you are dying - because pretty well every bed is full. So they can't bring you back until there's an open bed. They try and deal with the irrational patients who come in who think that just because they are in the ER they should be seen right away. It doesn't happen that way no matter where you go. They definitely try and get you seen as quick as they can and they let you know that Yes, we still know you are here. It is a much smaller ER than I have been to before, but overall they did a good job.

I want to write a letter praising Richard Baldauf, the respiratory therapist, who performed my lung function tests on March 14th, 2013.
He was very unusual in his willingness to answer my question about the elements of the test and what the measurements were. While he was scrupulously careful not to interpret the results and suggest any possible treatment, he was very forthcoming.
Forthrightness, unfortunately, is all too rare with medical personnel.
Moreover, he had a very pleasant manner.
All in all, it was a very positive experience and I left very surprised but appreciative of it and his performance of his medical abilities.

On Tuesday, May 1, I tripped and fell in the back yard, but experienced the most pain on Friday and Saturday, (May 4 and 5). My blood pressure was high and I was experiencing dizziness, so I went to the Emergency Room and Memorial about 4:00 p.m.. They took my vitals and got me into a room within about 20 minutes.Everyone (nurses, doctor, and technicians were very friendly, professional, and courteous. Someone came in and informed me that I would be having a CT Scan of the upper torso. I saw that they were busy and most of the rooms appeared to be full. The results came back about 4 hours later, and I was discharged with appropriate instructions for at-home care. The business staff made me feel comfortable about the bill by telling me they would send it in the mail and that someone else would be contacting me later to work out the payment details and that I didn't need to worry about it right then.

I decided to have my leg checked  by having a doppler study done to make sure I didn't have a clot.  I was there for approximately 3 hours from the time I walked in to the time I left with the doppler study results. Everyone was extremely caring, courteous, and professional from the greeting at the front office to the back room.  They checked on me periodically until they were ready to discharge and release me.   Everything was clean and they seemed to use good hand-washing habits in the room and while working with me. They sent me home with instructions. And I was happy to not be there for several more hours.

Hospital figured out insurance ahead of time, made me pay the leftover amount ahead of time, and generally harassed me until the bill was figured out. Then after the surgery they claimed they made a mistake and I owed all $14,000. I am still making payments and hating that hospital today.
