Counseling & Mental Health reviews in Las Cruces

    Aguilar, Dr. Mario
Mixed. Dr. Aguilar looks a bit like Pat Morita (from Kung ** Kid fame) and is easy to get along with. He seems friendly, good bedside manner, and seems highly intelligent and competent. I think he did what was expected of a neurologist. However, in the end, I have no diagnosis. However, the information he provided to the ensuing medical professionals was useful. Still experiencing problems. Either the symptoms will gradually subside (they have SOME), or the underlying cause will kill me. I am learning toward the "kill me" option right now. I give him a good rating still because he is approachable, makes you feel comfortable, and doesn't insult the patient, and he did what a run of the mill neurologist can, plus the info has been useful to my referrals. I probably need the Mayo Clinic. Health Care in Las Cruces is a stitch above Utica NY, which is the absolute worst.

She is going to test my daughter again on the 20th of May. I can see that she is knowledgeable about gifted children and knows a lot about the resources here in the Las Cruces area. She helped us pick an appropriate school for our daughter based on the fact that she has a very high IQ. They have somebody that works for the front office where I make appointments and I pay, and they are always very professional and nice. She is really, really busy so it's hard to get an appointment. She doesn't take insurance so I have to pay out of pocket.

I have a complicated case of epilepsy. Dr. Woody explains things to me more clearly and in more detail than any other neurologist I have had. He once scrolled through an EEG a staff member had taken of me and explained what the various lines meant. I like to know what is going on and appreciate any doctor who takes the time to explain things.

He has a done good job. He listens to my problems. He takes time, he don't just rush you five minutes and he spends about 20 to 25 minutes with you. I have been seeing him for about eight or nine years now. I have been with him ever since he started here and you know there is only like three or four all the rest are booked up to take new patient. He has treated me for my panic attacks and stuff like that. The staff are very friendly, they know me by name. I would continue to use him until he retires or something.

The difficulties with Dr. Hernandez office is the scheduling-it is several months wait to get in to see him and if for some reason you schedule and then need to change it-it will be a long time to get in again. Dr. Hernandez staff do not promptly or ever return my phone calls. You will have a long wait time when you actual go for your appointment, but with all this said, Dr. hernandez is a great psychiatrist and worth waiting for.

I am seeing the nurse practitioner in his office, Jana Weisborn.  Dr. Brandt himself is not taking new patients.  Jana is real thorough, helpful with other interactions with the medical community, and tries to get to the bottom of the problem rather than just write a prescription and send you on your way.  The atmosphere is very casual.

    I'd definately recommend her.

He canceled the last 5 appointments with me, and I haven't been able to see him recently. He prescribed a lot of medications, and increased the dosage and I wasn't comfortable with the dosage. I brought to his attention the side effects of some of the medications he wanted me to take, and he changed his mind on not having me take a certain medication. I felt like I was the one doing all of the homework on the meds he would prescribe to me, but he didn't do very much checking into the side effects on these medications. He took time with my appointments and listened to me, and my feedback regarding my medications. He used his own judgment, taking into account my feedback, and would prescribe the right amount for me. Even though he had a large patient load, he knew me personally and information regarding my personal life and family. You could tell he had a vested interest in me as a person.
