We hired Unique Design to remodel our kitchen as well as refinish ceilings and walls in other areas of our house. When I started the process with the owner, Alan Pando, I found him to be very personable, engaging and straight-forward. We worked through an itemized project work scope and he provided detailed pricing for each item of that work scope. When work started the crew showed up on time and worked to the defined stop time. Each day the work area was cleaned up prior to the workers leaving. The Unique Design personnel were very amicable and professional. They were always willing to work with us with things we needed to do in the normal conduct of our lives. From the time the work started until the time it ended, there were workers on the job every day of the work week. Early on, after the work had started, we decided that the floors needed to be redone. Not only did we want the floors redone in the existing work area but also in other areas of the house. Alan was very amenable to working with us on this new work scope. He quickly provided us with costing and he was able to make adjustments to accommodate the significant increase in schedule. Also, as with any big project, not all things go exactly as planned. Throughout the process Alan worked with us to make any necessary changes, adjustments and in some cases do overs. He and his crew were very attentive to detail and it was abundantly clear they wanted to make sure we were completely satisfied with all aspects of the work. We are ecstatic with our new kitchen and all the other work that was done. It is absolutely amazing. Alan was true to his word from beginning to end. His costs were exceedingly fair and he delivered everything he said he would and beyond. It was a real pleasure doing business with him. I highly recommend Unique Design and would hire them again in a heartbeat. Id also like to thank Angies List for helping me find Unique Design.

We were extremely satisfied with the scheduling and workmanship. Alan told us from the start that he would schedule us only when he could devote himself and his workers to our home until it was completed. Alan was true to his word. The cost of the project and add ons was very reasonable and the quality of workmanship was unsurpassed.
Even with the best design ideas that we had, Alan and his skilled crew were able to advise us of better alternatives many times that left us with a kitchen that is not only beautiful but far more functional than our old one.
Alan has the most pleasant, trustworthy workers. They arrived at 8 am, went to lunch from 12-1 and left at 4 pm.
We have already decided on future projects for Alan to do at his convenience.
We experienced a nightmare of a kitchen remodel in our old home fifteen years ago, and vowed this time to watch the workers like a hawk. By the second day and many times thereafter, we left our home knowing we were in good hands.  The entire experience was actually fun because of the great sense of humor that Alan and his workers have.

The were the best. They came every day exactly on time and cleaned up after each day on the job. Here in Las Cruces, to get anybody to come on time is a miracle. They came on time and were very professional. I would highly recommend them to any and everyone. And most importantly they did a great job tearing out my closet and installing my tile in the bedroom and closet.

    Great job guys..........................

    LIBERTY GENERAL CONSTRUCTION
The owner, Pat, came out to meet with us several times as we developed our design and specs providing very helpful input. In addition he dropped by once or twice a week to monitor progress. Construction began a couple weeks later than planned due to surprises in their prior job. During the delay we were kept fully informed and were provided a new start date. Edgar was project lead and was there every day working, directing others as needed and touching base with us to resolve questions as needed. He kept us well informed. Mark, the supervisor worked several jobs but directly handled the plumbing, external venting as well as stepping in to monitor and help resolve design issues. The team had solid technical skills, worked hard to get the project done on schedule, kept the site picked up and were very pleasant to work with,

    PAUL MONTOYA HANDYMAN
Most jobs went well... Paul would take on any job and bring a helper if needed. As time went on the jobs became slightly more detailed and more expensive but he did a good job and always asked for feedback. He was very pleasant, cheerful and reliable. I would recommend him for handy work/odd jobs.

Alan and his team were simply wonderful. We were interested in a number of things (1) a good estimate (2) once the work started, continuity and solid work to finish (3) quality. We got all three. Alan always kept us in the loop and we never felt neglected. His estimate was very fair from our point of view. For such a serious make-over the job was done in exactly 2 1/2 weeks. His workers were friendly, prompt, clearly professional and cleaned up after themselves each day. The work in every respect was excellent. There was a gap between the new granite and the existing back splash, and they ran a piece of trim in the same color as the cupboards around which really just set off the entire room. They offered suggestions that were helpful. Even though we had decided on a piece of granite, Alan found one he thought we might like better and got it to us and it was perfect for setting off our new cupboard color. We were simply happy from start to finish.
I would recommend anyone use him.

    Engel Coatings
John Engel responded to my telephone call promptly and came right out to get information for an estimate, which he emailed to me, along with his BBB report (A+) and many, many references.  I did not need to check references, as I already knew of their work and long-time reputation in the community.
They arrived on time & went to work right away - very professional for both jobs.  They have certainly earned their great reputation in this community!  I could not be happier with their work.  All workers were responsive to my questions, friendly and courteous.
I would DEFINITELY have them back again.  I'm already planning for the next time!

    RJB Construction
The new interior doors were installed perfectly. One exterior door frame was rebuilt and the door re-hung. This work was way better than the original work and was accomplished even though the electricity went out in the area. Roy's crew of carpenters were considerate, cleaned up well and were concerned to do the best job they could. Nice to have workers who take pride in their work.
The painters were less careful than the carpenters. They did their job but were not as careful or concerned with clean-up or being neat around the job site.
    Overall, very satisfied with work.

    RJB Construction
The job started with several discussions on schedule and an estimate of cost.  The estimate was very fair, and the work started right away.  One major concern we had due to experiences with other contractors was that workers would start on a job, then disappear for a while on a different job, and the work would take forever to complete.  This did not happen at all with RJB.  There were workers at the house nearly every single day working all day for over a month and a half.  There were no issues on schedule at all; in fact, getting all of the work that we requested done in about 6 weeks was (in my wife's words) a small miracle.  Each part of the project was scheduled and coordinated to be efficient, which resulted in minimal waiting time between tasks.  For example, as soon as the roof schedule was determined, the heating and cooling subcontractor was on the job, completing the work before the roofing contractor would be in the way. And the ceiling repairs were done while the back-porch rebuild was also in-progress.  The stucco repairmen and the painters and the framers were all quick and professional, and very personable, nice, and friendly, people.  They cleaned up the jobsite(s) at every chance; even raking the dirt on the side of the house before they left, which is something we haven't done since we moved in 17 years ago.  All in all, this job was very well managed, very professional, and a good value for the quantity and quality of work performed.  Roy was very professional, even pointing out recommendations where they made sense such as removing two clerestory windows that were causing problems with leaking.  We would have never thought of actually removing the windows, but when it was said and done, we were amazed at how much better it actually looked.  In summary, we are very pleased with the work done, and would recommend  Roy Brown and RJB Construction for all your remodeling needs.

    RJB Construction
The contractor selected was RJB Construction (Roy J. Brown). The final cost of all work was approximately $12,000. The base coat and stucco work was provided by subcontractor ?Olivas Plastering?, which did excellent job in repairing the cracks/ damaged stucco areas and matching the existing stucco texture on the walls. The application of the elastomeric paint was provided by subcontractor ?Gilbert Limon Painting? which also did an excellent job. The carpentry work, door and window installation was done by the contractor?s son ?T J?(Trenton), who also did excellent work. All personnel were nice to work and interface with. Clean-up after each phase of work (to include at time of completion) was excellent.
I had some reservations about the length of time the basecoat/stucco and elastomeric paint had time to cure. Most products recommend that the temperature be a minimum of 55 degrees since application on some days were in the mid 30?s F starting at 7:30-8:00 am. The onsite monitoring and follow-up by the Contractor (Roy) could have been more often and timely. Also, when the scope of work was discussed with the contractor at our first meeting, some items in the bid were not included and had to be modified to include those areas.

I do recommend RJB construction and would use them again.
