Door Installation reviews in Cedar Crest

    Dreamstyle Remodeling
The installers, PJ and Mike, arrived a bit earlier than scheduled, which was fine with me. They introduced themselves and were professional. They explained the details to me through out the door installation process. My door looks great. There is a minor error with the glass that will be fixed for free. They cleaned up after the install. Overall a great experience.

    Paragon Construction LLC
We are thrilled with the job and with Paragon Construction.  Having built a couple of homes in the past, and having done other remodel jobs, we were cynical about contractors due to some of our previous experiences.  We now have new faith in the profession!  The owner, Byron Butcher, is pleasant, professional, courteous and extremely capable,  Due to the extensive work to be done (over a period of about 5 months) we did not live in the home while the work was being done, but did visit the site daily.  Mr. Butcher and his crew were there on time, usually worked 6 days a week, and to my amazement, cleaned the site at the end of each workday.  The whole team was pleasant and very professional.  Mr, Butcher was very responsive to owner input (and change requests), and if he had a suggestion (often things we hadn't considered), he was very polite in explaining his viewpoint -- we were very appreciative of his extensive knowledge about construction.  He obviously has many years of experience and was well versed or had experts working if there were speciality areas (tile work for example).  Perhaps one of the best bonuses of hiring Mr. Butcher is that he is a Master Carpenter.  As a result, all the things that were particularly important to us, like the finish of the house, were given a great deal of attention (such as setting cabinets and doors, making sure baseboard was trimmed perfectly, etc).  Additionally, he was very professional with his paperwork and bid process.  He required all his workers to carry workman's comp which we much appreciated.  If we ever want additional work done, we will call Paragon Construction to do the job.

    Cardinal Construction Inc
Ted, Josh, and crew are excellent.  From finding the right option in their wide range of products to install and finishing, they are professional, their craftsmanship is excellent, and they are easy to work with.
    - The Integrity sliding doors are beautiful and have continued to work smoothly for years.  I got fiberglass outside with wood inside, and had Cardinal stain and finish the inside to match my existing trim.  They took extra care to ensure that the door transition to my deck and hardwood floor was square and tight.
    - The windows all fit the opening perfectly, and make a HUGE difference in terms of summer cooling and sound attenuation.  In the kitchen Cardinal had to cut a tile sill to make room for the new windows, and they did it without damaging the tiles and ended up with a perfectly square, clean line against the windows.
    - The deck work involved repairing a hole from a removed hot tub, and they took care to align the new boards with the old, adjusting the gaps as they went to make things look seamless.
Because they are general contractors, I believe their attention to detail and understanding of the proper way to install windows and doors is superior to the big-box and big-brand hired help.  You may pay slightly more for install, but in my experience it is worth every penny.  My only criticism is that they often scheduled my installs only a day ot two in advance, so you may need to be extra clear upfront if arranging a specific install date/time is important to you.  In the end, that was a minor issue compared to the excellent craftsmanship and service.

    Accent Southwest Windows & Doors
Dan came out and was very good at his job.  Gave us ideas and a bid.  We were going to replace a sliding glass door with extra window with solid glass window. We were also going to put a new door on another wall.  After talking to our contractor we went with just a new sliding glass door with an extra window that was going to have to be raised. Dan came out again to measure and sign papers.  He sent his official guy who does the final measurement out a few days later. The door and windows were installed on the date they gave us.  The installers saw a few scratches on the windows and immediately order new glass to be put in on a future date.  We still do not see the scratches. Very good experience with little or no stress.

    Advanced American Construction Inc.
    George knows his business.
When he came out to make a bid he gave us solutions to problems we thought we knew what to do.  His ideas were much better and he saved us a couple of thousands with his ideas.  His bid was the lowest. Even while he was working on our place, if a problem came up he talked to us with a solution i.e. putting extra support under where the Kiva would be built.  If George tells you how something needs to be done listen to him.  He know what he is talking about. He did a fabulous job.  I knew we had gotten the right contractor when the first thing he had his men do was put down floor protectors and hung plastic to try to keep as much dust from the rest of the house. George works right along with his men.  They all three worked hard and long each day. They cleaned up their work area each day before they left. The floors, walls, and windows are beautiful.
We bought a Kiva Kit from a place in Albuquerque and had one of their men install the Kiva.  The person who was suppose to do the stucco came over with an attitude and started jacking up his bid.  We asked him to leave and called George. George was able to be over the next day to start the stuccoing process.
I told George he is like Walt Disney and his Disneyland - George makes dreams come true.
If you want to see pictures, contact George and I will send him some that I took during the construction.

This is my second report on Perfect Works Construction - total dollars spent since the beginning was $17,600. I've been meaning to write another report for months, mainly because I am impressed with professionalism and ability to 'get the job done' quickly and at reasonable cost and high quality workmanship. I was 'harsh' (honest) in my 1st report and remain honest here - my overall experience is that I'm very pleased with the work and the cost. It struck me one day, after a telephone conversation about a pending job, that Eddy takes pride in his work, and really tries to accomplish what the owner wants - this, I think, is an unusual and laudable quality, and is why I am submitting this second report.

Overall - EXCELLENT. Good communication skills (i.e., letting you know where he's at with the job, when he'll be there, etc. - unusual for a contractor). Quality of the job was always good to excellent - only on a few occasions was there a small problem which I brought to his attention and he fixed. One one occasion there was an issue that couldn't be fixed easily or without additional cost. A floating [fake wood] floor had some "soft" spots where the underlayment needed additional padding so it wouldn't 'sink down' when you walked on that spot. He should have checked for this issue during the placement because it is a big-dollar item. Ergo, the "B" rating on quality but overall it's more like B+ or A-. The bottom line is, would I hire this guy again? Absolutely. Highly recommended. In fact, I have more jobs for him on my agenda. His broad skill set is impressive which means you can use him for almost everything. His communication skills, professional work ethic, price and quality are exemplary.
