  • The problem with GCRMC is that they have no one on staff that is knowledgeable in cardiology and no facilities for cardiac testing. |I recently (Jan 2014) went for blood testing, they had changed the registration process, which formerly worked well and was timely, to a new system which lead to a lengthy wait (15 min before to 45 min now). |I have had much experience with this facility in the past 25 yrs, all off it a "C" rating--but it is the only game in town (or within 70 miles).

  • I was in Washington, DC on a business trip when my wife became very sick. Our insurance company recommended Virginia Hospital Center. My wife was rushed to emergency surgery. Everyone at the hospital, from ER personnel, to the surgeon who was called in from home at 3 AM to the ICU personnel, to all the the nurses, and all the other persons performed admirably. The Resident Surgeon came in and volunteered his time "off the clock" to help ensure a safe recovery for my wife. Now we are back home, in New Mexico, safe and sound.

  • Everything about Walgreens is great except it takes a while to get you presciptions sometimes when they are busy. They are usually busy. I have just learned that I drop off my script and come back about an hour later. They have a friendly staff and are very good at their jobs. I have ask questions about the medicine before and they answered all my questions. They always ask if I need to talk to the pharmacist if it is a new medicine I haven't taken before. They are great just really busy.

  • I am on their auto fill service and its really wonderful they send you a text or email to remind you that they are ready to be picked up.The staff is very friendly. I also had them give me the shingles shot in April. The pharmacist review my health history gave me the shot and had me wait in the store for 20 minutes to make sure I didn't have a reaction. We have been doing business with them for a number of years and wouldn't consider changing.

  • In found them because they have the best location in town. When I went there last, I asked the druggist why they had two prices there, one was $7 and the other was $13 for the same product. He took my card and went behind the counter and said that it was $7 from there, so I said OK, I would go with the $7 one. When I was through and I looked at the receipt, they had charged me $13. It clearly said $7 at two places in the store. It was such a shock, that I didn't even ask him about it. The druggists there do a very good job, but the staff doesn't have a clue about the difference between one pill and another, so when they are pricing the things on the shelves, they just go with whatever the computer says. There were two places on the shelf, within six inches of each other, they had the same product, but with different prices. When I told the druggist about the two places on the shelf with two different prices, no attempt was made to correct it, somebody else would do it, that was their attitude. Regarding the quality, I take a bunch of drugs, and I hope they are up to par. I also take a lot of over the counter vitamins and things like fish oil, and in line with my suspicions, they were not what they were cracked up to be. I think the way they are treating it, or even having them tested, they are going to have to think about it. There is no federal agency, there is nobody actually checking up on them. I would think that they would want to go out of their way to make sure that the products they put on their shelves are up to par. I have my suspicions that they are not as forthcoming as they should be, and they are not acting professionally. If they were forthcoming and acting professionally, they should apologize for having those products on their shelves. I go there regularly, and I have never seen any mention about the quality of any product. I have had communication problems with them. I once had my prescription and my dosage changed, and when I went in and asked for my prescription, I found that for two sessions, they had given me my old dosage, which was half of what I was supposed to take, so they have communication issues as well.

  • A short evening wait. Typical paperwork. Was very impressed with the doctor on duty. He seemed interested and concerned. Resolved my issue after calling my (out of town) surgeon. The nurse that was tasked with removing my catheter had a pissy attitude, seemed to think the chore was beneath her. But she was in and out in less then a few minutes. All other personnel dealt with were professional and efficient. Over all a surprisingly positive experience. Even called a few days later to ask how I was.

  • Overall, the experience went far better than we had expected from others who told us about using this facility. Had about a 40 minute wait in emergency room before pain medication given and a CAT scan given, and then about 2-1/2 hour wait for CAT scan results. Nurses and staff were available during that time for questions and assistance. Before leaving the hospital, the doctor and nurse communicated well about medications and what to expect over the next week. Waited this long to report because we wanted to see how the billing process worked out, but am pleased to say that went smoothly, too.

  • The out-patient surgery for the hernia repair was well and quickly accomplished. Doctor and nurses were helpful and efficient. Post-surgery instructions were easy to understand and follow.

However, afterward, the billing process was problematic. Twice GCRMC turned over erroneous information to collection agencies. We were contacted by a collection agency in the name of GCRMC that the surgeon's bill was overdue, yet the surgeon's bill had already long been paid. After clearing that up, another collection agency contacted us that the anesthesiologist bill was overdue. Again, that had already long been paid. Even after clearing this up with GCRMC, the collection agencies kept calling and sending letters. Not a pleasant experience.

  • They did a cat scan and discovered that his brain was bleeding, and they had a helicopter transport him to another hospital to operate on him immediately. They have also removed a tumor from the outside wall of his esophagus.
