  • These guys were at our place at sharp 8am (scheduled time) and started working in our front yard tree without disturbing us in the morning. By the time we noticed that someone is in our front yard these guys were almost done with bring the tree down and stump grinding. These even took the dead tree with them so we didnt have to worry about paying extra for recycling tree. It took them literally no more than 20 min from start to end. They even cleaned up our front yard, driveway and walkway at the end. Mike, who helped schedule the appointment, was very flexible with pricing and offered very economical quote.

  • Cannot say enough good things about Doug and his crew. We moved into a house where the trees hadn't been maintained in many years. Doug walked our property and explained what he thought was best for each tree. His quote was by far the best we received. Based on his Angie's List ratings, our experience meeting him, and his estimate, we hired him. He accommodate a very tight timeline to get the tree work done for us before we had a fence installed. His team arrived on the dot at 9am and they worked seemingly without a break through the whole day, even during the rain. Communication was great through the whole process - they asked if we wanted more or less as they were pruning and they kept us informed of what was best for the trees in their professional opinion. The before and after of our house is stunning. They left our property spotless and even took away a bunch of other random branches that we had in other places. All in all, such a great experience and we're so glad we hired them.

  • After hiring Greg to do our paver walkway which turned out amaaaaazing it was a no brainer that we were also going to have him do our landscaping. I have to say that we were a bit nervous because we didn't know what to expect visually from our yard and what Greg had in mind, but he really knows his stuff and can visualize what will look good where and just how much to do that compliments the house without being too much or over the top.
After getting new flowers, shrubs and trees along with landscape lighting, our house looks fantastic! We were actually thinking of bringing out a few lawn chairs in the street and just looking at the front of the house with a few cold ones. :)
Landscaping is one of those jobs when you can really only go by what other people say as you never know what something is going to look like or if you will like how it comes out. It is good to know that there is a company out there where you can feel like you are going to be happy with what you get.

  • I called Alan's out for an estimate to have some trees trimmed and they wanted approx $1500 to trim a few branches on 3 trees....not take them down, just to trim a few of the branches that were overhanging the house.   I had to call them up, as they did not even leave any paperwork like I asked them.  A very obnoxious woman answered the phone and I asked them where the estimate was, and she replied "we don't leave or mail out estimates unless you agree to do the job"  I replied that their prices are too high and I will not use their services.
Stay away from this one !!

THIS IS AN UPDATE to  Alan's comment.   Alan you visited my house  on a Saturday morning and I spoke to you face to face.  Your wife was in the car with you....you were going shopping afterwards.... While she stayed in the car;  we walked in the yard and I told you what needed to be done and showed you what tree branches needed to be trimmed...      And yes I noticed that you were at my neighbors house.....

  • Good Service and local to the area. The manager, Matt, was professional and he made sure the job was done accordingly to my requirements. Surely I am going to use Hidden Hollow Acers again in future. A+

  • Where to start...... I used K haskell 2 years ago to cut down 2 trees, both about 25 feet tall.  They are very nice, came out gave me a price and said they would be back the following Tuesday.  Tuiesday came and i got a call syaing it may rain so they will wait till later in the week.  OK, no problem...I don't know the tree business but that makes sense....no rain that day but hey, who can predict the weather right?  The week passed and so did the next week.  I finally called, had to remind them about the job, location and price.  They said they would be out the following Monday.  (all still very nice, Pete and his son Keith I think)  Monday came and went and i gave up.  The following week I came home from work and the trees were cut and a bill was left for $2,000.  Weird but i was happy.  The place wasn't left clean and 1 other tree I wanted trimmed wasn't done correctly but still...the main stuff was done.
After hurricane Sandy, they stopped by because i had lots of trees down on the property.  They seemed to have no idea who I was or that they were ever there.  We walked around the property and came up with a price of $4,500 for all the work.  I needed to do it and the price seemed fair because of the amount of trees  10+
They gave me a date the following week and never showed even though i stayed home from work.  They called me later that day and blamed the rain even though again it didn't rain....they said they would call me in a week...never called.  Then a month later they called and set a date for the 2nd week in January 2013.. I worked from home that day and they didn't show.  I gave up on this company andf called 3 others for estimates.  All gave me close estimates  and I picked one to have the work done.  Everything went smoothly.
Last week I get a call from them asking if I'm ready to do the work.  Are you serious????  Not only did I get 1 call but they called 3 times.  They seem like really nice people and do nice work but how can you possibly plan anything with them?

  • Sean Benedickson came out to do the estimate, completed the work in a very timely manner dispite the fact that the chipper broke the first day! They were very reasonable and very professional.

  • From our first contact with Ruth, we could tell that this company was going to go the extra mile. We had MANY companies giving us estimates on the work and were quite pleased with three of the estimates. Geils was chosen because their estimate seemed to best capture the scope of the work we wanted done. Everyone with whom we met or spoke was very accommodating. With all of the estimates we were collecting, it got difficult to keep track of everyone. Bryan not only come out once, he came out three times - because we weren't sure both my husband and I had an opportunity to meet him prior to accepting their offer and beginning the work. Upon his third arrival, we immediately realized that not only had we both met him, but Bryan had already been here twice. Despite what must have been a huge inconvenience, Bryan was professional, pleasant, and even joked with me about how horribly guilty I felt for dragging him out again.

With all of the rain and wind storms we've been having, along with the enormous size of this job, it took almost three entire days to complete the work. Every member of the Geils' Team was professional, respectful, friendly, and quite skilled at their craft. Although we dealt most directly with Ruth, Bryan, and Scott - who were all AMAZING - we wish we knew everyone's name so we could give them proper credit. We had tree work done at our former home. Let's just say not all companies work or behave in the same manner. We were thrilled with the entire team and how they worked like a well-oiled machine. At the end of each work day our property was left clean and free of all possible debris. Their attention to detail was so very much appreciated!

Above all else, Geils dealt with us honestly and fairly throughout the process. When a plastic pipe was accidently (yet understandably) cut on day one, they took responsibility for it and made sure to fix it before considering the job done. Everything we hoped to be completed was - even the work we added on last minute! Our estimate was honored as the actual price - despite the fact that both we and they know they did more than the estimate charged.

It is without hesitation and with absolute confidence that we would recommend Geils Tree Service to anyone in need of such work.

  • I bought the deal of $249 for $500 worth of tree work after the Sandy storm.  I was aware that they wouldn't be getting out to me quickly, as there were many folks needing tree service, so I was prepared to wait.  They finally left a message on my answering machine on Thanksgiving day and showed up the next day.  He gave me a quote on two large downed trees which was quite high.  I told him I would have to get back to him as that was too expensive for me.  I called him a few days later and told him that I just wanted the $500 of service paid for and to please come back and let me know what he could do for that amount.  I didn't hear from him for a couple of weeks, called him a few times and didn't get an answer.  I then reached out to another number provided by the company and they informed me they were already back in Missouri (I'm in New Jersey).  He obviously couldn't be bothered with my $500 project and never even bothered to call me.  I was told that I could get my money back from Angies List.  Really???  Totally unprofessional and caused me some inconvenience.  Very disappointed in this service.

  • Mike was not only able to come give an estimate within a couple of days, but to schedule the work to be done in a week.
He answers the phone, which I appreciate, rather than reaching a secretary. One time, he answered when on the road, and then called me back within minutes once he had pulled over.
He respected my concerns about, and went through special efforts, to take care of my property.
Very professional and skilled, he was also friendly and easy to talk to.
