I am so VERY sorry that I did NOT read reviews before going to this money grubbing place. I give people the benefit of the doubt...I haven't wanted to write the deservedly negative review but really they have left me no choice. They engaged an attorney to sue me about a year ago, we are going our 2nd time to court. I recently tried to settle for the original amount, even though I truly do NOT believe it was fair. I feel they baited and switched and charged me an astronomical amt of $.They will not accept now and are forcing me to go to court. My dog was experiencing neurological issues. His gate was off and his legs were very weak. Here is a timeline of the events. Basically, after almost $4,000 worth of tests, the $2,675 MRI which was not necessary, my dog was diagnosed with an incurable neurological disease. Sunday, October 2nd, 2016 Visited Neurologist @ GSV Dr. ran tests, couldnt find anything Recommended I go see an ortho (Dr. Scavelli, the owner of Garden State Vet) Wednesday, October 5th, 2016 Saw Dr. Scavelli in SI Office re Ortho. After Eval he said I should bring Presh for Nerve biopsy. He didnt know what it was. He filmed him walking and his gate was off. I asked the price, was told less than $1k. Told him I wasnt working and he said would give me payment plan. I still told him it was too much $. When I left he called me and told me I really needed to come Monday and have him have the test. I was impressed with his concern and agreed Monday, October 10th, 2016 My Dog went for nerve biopsy Dr Scavelli called me and said other drs examined him and think there are 2 separate issues and since he is already under they want to give MRI. I told him my financial situation AGAIN and asked if it were his family pet, what would he do? He said do MRI. I asked how much and he said he DIDNT KNOW OFF HAND but less than if we had to do this at a later time. Did NOT authorize cost, I authorized procedure I was impressed on October 5th with his concern and him reaching out to me again, so I authorized the MRI, NEVER thinking it would be $2,675 JUST for the MRI! I almost didnt do nerve procedure for only $1k seriously were they kidding me??? Tuesday, October 11th, 2016 Went to pick up My dog. Was told MRI was negative and biopsy results were forthcoming. I was taken in the front and presented with a bill for $3,696.79. I began to shakethey now had my dog hostage. I tried to negotiate fee, told them it was unreasonable. Tried to negotiate pmt plan, was told the only payment plan Dr. Scavelli would approve was for 6 months @ $616.13. I signed the plan under duress & paid all I had-- $10. They were holding my sick dog hostage! I had hoped to get a job very soon! October 22, 2016 Received a call from neurologist from GSV and she said the ORIGINAL NERVE TEST results came back that precious had an incurable neurological disease Polyneuropathy. I went to the Dr. originally for neurological issues and that is exactly what it ended up being. After we got off the phone I thought about this and realized this was a BAIT and SWITCH! The MRI was NOT necessary, I was lied to. I am so disappointed in Dr. Scavelli. He seemed like such a concerned and nice man but how could he think if I cant pay $1k for nerve tests that I am going to be able to pay almost $4k for these tests AND that I could manage a 6 month payment plan? I was taken. The attempted to collect from then on and I received a summons that I was being sued in Nov 2017. November 22, 2017 Called Garden State Vet to explain predicament and see again if they would negotiate. They said it was with lawyer now and I should have done that alreadyI did! On October 11th, 2016. I didnt think I had any negotiating power. Late November 2017 the attorney jerked me around talking about settlement and they wanted to include $1,250 worth of legal fees (which was apparently on the promissory note you sign when you enter into a payment agreement with them which I signed UNDER extreme mental duress. This has been a horrible experience and my dog is getting worse and worse, which is hard enough to watch. The sad thing is....no one has EVER asked how my dog is doing.

    IN THE DOG HOUSE
We have a positive experience with our two dogs.  They're both small.  They're very good there, very caring and very patient.  They're very careful with them and they're very patient and they just do a very good job overall.  I'd give them an A across the board, whatever it is.

    4 Paws Petsitting
We planned a trip for a few days so once again we called Cathy from 4 Paws Petsitting. Cathy watched our cats last summer so we were confident she'd do a great job again. Everything went smoothly and all was well when we returned. Cathy is very personable and easy to work with. If you need a petsitter and you're in her area look no further. Call Cathy at 4 Paws Petsitting.

The many visits were always the best service you could get. Sometime we have left there sad & unset, but always the best care possible. Prices were always affordable. If i would call with an unexpected problem, they always fit us in. Dr Bonano is genuine. He truly cares about the animals, along with his staff. We feel fortunate to be one of their clients

    Home Veterinary Service
I had to take my other dog before I got this puppy down there. She was a regular patient of theirs. I had to put her down and they were phenomenal. They were absolutely phenomenal. They were so caring. Just the way they treated me and the dog was wonderful. I didn't have to wait there long. I won't go anywhere else. They care price-wise, they even give a senior discount and they're caring. They're just phenomenal. I've been to other vets over the years and I just can't trust them because all they want to do is major surgery and keep you coming back and back and back. I think they're just ladies, I've never had a male vet there, but that doesn't matter.  They have been wonderful, they give me options and I make the decision, not them. They're not huge, they're are a small veterinarian service. They're just phenomenal.

We had a planned vacation that almost didn't happen due to unforeseen circumstances. One issue that came up at the last minute was care for three cats that belonged to a relative that passed away. We were going to take them to our home after our vacation but had no one to help us with them while we were gone. The local kennels did not have room or were not suitable for our needs and a vet place was much too costly. All three cats are older and each is on prescription medicines and special food given daily. Running out of time and options I checked Angie's list and found Cathy. We spoke briefly by phone and then met at the house the cats were in to discuss a plan. Cathy is a vet tech in a local animal hospital and a person that truly loves animals and not just someone looking to make a buck. She was very easy to talk to and knowledgeable. It quickly became clear that she would be just the person we needed. We discussed all the needed care and she gave me a very reasonable price. I handed her the keys to the house feeling confident in the choice I made. While on vacation she sent me a couple texts to let me know how things were going. She visited the house twice daily to care for and spend some time with the cats. We enjoyed our trip knowing our cats were in excellent hands. Upon our return we met to discuss how things went and we were very pleased. I highly recommend Cathy and 4 Paws Petsitting and look forward to the next time she can take care of our cats.

    Red Bank Veterinary Hospital
My dog was suffering from an ear infection and stapf infection.  The doctor suspected allergies.  But since I could not afford the endless allergy testing the doctor was not willing to properly treat these infections.  Over the course of the year my dog's ear flap lost all its hair, turned black, skin flaked and turned leathery. The ear flap looked like it was dying. The stapf infection spread on my dogs stomach that it almost entirely covered his stomach.  I was unaware that the stapf infection could be fatal.  I got fed up with the excuse that the doctor couldn't treat the infections if they didn't know what caused them.  Allergy testing can take forever to figure out what is causing it, if ever. Environmental allergies in this case were not life threatening. I told the doctor I couldn't afford the allergy treatments and the doctor even confirmed that my dog could develop different allergies, just like people.  The doctor again said she couldn't properly treat the infections without knowing what was causing them.
I got the very distinct impression from this hospital that they will only treat if you willing to spend whatever it takes.
I took my dog to a different animal hospital.  That doctor said they were quite able to treat my dog's infections without finding out what allergy was causing them.  It was a combination of ointment for the ear, spray for the stomach and antibiotics.  Within 2 months the staph infection on my dog's stomach was cleared up, within 4 months my dog's ear flap was no longer black, flaking or leathery.  It was pink again. And within 6 months the hair was growing back.  She is also treating his allergies with an antihistamine, same way as you do for people.  It was not necessary to treat the allergy like the Red Bank Vet said was needed.  The new vet treated the symptoms, saved my dog's life.
Red Bank also doesn't give estimates on treatments that are reasonably accurate.  I had another pet that had an infection.  I asked what the treatment was going to cost, I was told $60. Since it was my daughter's pet I said go ahead.  Then they handed me a bill for over $300.  The $60 was the medication only.  It didn't include all the extras which were over $240.  This happened before too when i asked for an estimate of costs for a different situation.  They only gave me the one component on that treatment too.
So when I asked Red Bank how much the allergy treatment was, again it was incomplete as to all the components needed, supplies needed and the cost f the person doing the testing.  And since the doctor had no idea which allergies were the likely ones, they didn't know how many tests were needed.  And they wouldn't give me an estimate on how much the allergy treatment would cost.
Since I switched to the new vet hospital, I have met 2 other families that left Red Bank.

There was no charge. The grade depends on what vet you go to. The last one was an A but you can get another vet. We were trying to go to her regularly but sometimes, she would have another appointment when we needed to go and so, we would have somebody else. Their specialists have been outstanding. They have anything you need though you are going to pay for it. They ophthalmology, neurology, oncology. I have seen all of them and more. You do wait. It is very rare that you have an appointment and you just walk in. They can have an emergency come up or it just takes longer with an animal, and you can argue with that.

A Friend at the Shore Pet Sitting
Gabe is a great dog walker, he is professional and attentive.  He even cleaned up after my poor pup had an accident in the house before he arrived.  I highly recommend his services.

    Glad Wags Groomers
My dog likes going there very much. Jane, the owner, is a kind person who is good with the dogs. It's easy to get an appointment with them and they do a good job grooming my dog. I've gone to a better groomer, but I think it is good enough -- it is a dog, after all.
