    A Debenedetto Construction LLC
Antonio and his crew led by Manny did an excellent job on our home. We couldn't be happier with how our house and project turned out. However along the way there were excess costs that were out of our control that lifted us out of our budget causing us to exceed our budget. Some of these costs were due to errors on the planning and initial layout of the work performed. When all was said and done, it ended up costing us thousands of extra dollars. Overall we were beyond thrilled with the work that was completed and feel Antonio and his crew are one of the best out there, but felt we had to pay for the mistakes in the end.

I still have two sump pumps. I questioned them that I had 3 for a medium sized basement. The 3rd was not needed, they said because it was not working for a while and it had not backed up into my basement and it was safe to remove. They removed it and filled the pit with stone for any water to run thru, then plastic and then cement.

    Classic Construction Service Inc
We have worked with Classic Construction since their earliest days in business, and they keep getting better and better! We recently had a horrible situation: we came home from a vacation to find serious mold and water damage in our basement. The floor, subfloor and many walls had to be replaced. Ian came right over, walked us through what we needed to do with our insurance, and helped us to get everything back in working order very quickly. The work was fantastic quality, but more than that the communication and really looking out for us was what made this such a positive experience. Sometimes they cost more than other contractors; they are worth it!

This is my third job with Dr. DeBenedetto. He schedules appointments promptly, explains the work, answers questions and is professional in his dealings. All work is done with care and craftsmanship. I highly recommend this business and will work with them again.

JACK WILLIAMS & SON CHIMNEY CONTRACTORS
Most horrific experience with a contractor. One of Jack Williams' guys rebuilt the top of chimney and did a great job until the exterior aesthetics had to be done (mortar coloring, pots and caps), which was an aggravating and dragged out experience. During the job, Jack started going through a divorce and other personal matters which sent him into a downward spiral. There were continual delays and no-shows (while scaffolding was still up in front of house and entire patio was left torn up for over a month with no workers on site) and prodding him to finish the job and clean up was like trying to thread an elephant through a needle. The replacement of patio flagstone and job completion ended up being rushed and crappy - mortar between flagstones on patio has broken up in alot of places and I now have to redo alot of the work only 2 years after his work. Entire job was supposed to take 3 weeks but took 5 months. Out of maybe 20 visits to the house by his workers, he showed up maybe 3 times (4 times including quoting me the job and on a couple of other critical/emergency times after I badgered him to come, each time finally making it after 3-4 no-shows). He had no admin assistant and the only way to reach him or the company was on his cell. Getting him to finish and working with him through selection and acquisition of new chimney pots/caps required literally thousands of emails, texts and calls over a 3 month period and he had to have his workers re-measure the chimney for pot fitting 4 or 5 times. I believe he ran out of money to pay his people and his business may have gone bankrupt. Instead of acquiring and billing me for the pots and caps, I had to order them myself on my credit card because Jack's company ran out of money to front the cash and probably ran out of credit with the supplier. The coloring of the mortar on top of chimney worked but was a super sloppy job that left colored "mud" all over the bricks - for 2 years after the job (until the rains finally washed it off), the top of the chimney looked like a giant mud pile. His team was very good with brick, but not much else. My quality rating is a "C", which is an average of "A" for the chimney brick work, caps and pots, but an "F" for patio and other stone and mortar work. While he claimed to be an expert on stones (as a mason should be) and said he would replace a broken chimney stone, one of his guys replaced it with the wrong type of stone, even after I showed Jack that I already had a pile of extras of the right type of stone right in my shed (which he never used - forgot to tell his guys or something). Apparently he's back in business, working alot from the Jersey shore and probably rarely makes it up to whatever job he might have in the Essex/Union county area.

Jersey Heating & Air Conditioning General Const.
My problem was more with the structure of the deal than with the service. The enticing price was for a superficial furnace job. Perhaps I should have recognized this, but the itemized list of tasks is designed to look impressive even if there isn't much to it. Basically this was a sell-up: check and superficial cleaning for $50; real job for $150. In fairness, the latter is what I habitually pay, and $50 is I guess too low for an "honest" discount, but I did not feel like engaging a plumber I didn't know sight-unseen for the bigger job on the basis of this sell-up. I did let the plumber sell me a copper connecting cable with installation for an extra $60. Again in fairness, it did take him some time to install. Because "hire again" is a yes/no question, I gave this person/service the benefit of the doubt. I assume he did what was described adequately, but there's no way to verify that. In future I"m going to use Angie's List to check ratings/reviews only. This is the second "deal" I've taken that was kind of a bait-and-switch, selling a service inadequate to the purpose. The other was for a window energy check and caulking that was nothing but a get-in-the-door for a hard sell for window replacement.

    Luigi General Contractors
Luis removed the old driveway, reordered the belgian blocks, and added and apron. They did a shoddy job of the steps in the back of the house. They never came back to complete the driveway even though they took most of the money. They poured extremely low quality gravel that is now turning into power. Luis never came back to check on the work. They left mounds of dirt and old asphalt in the back yard. They never fixed the torn-up yard. We paid about $7000 for this work. He owes us over $2000 for the unfinished work. The driveway is unfinished. I called him many times and even emailed him. He has not responded. I later found out that the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs has listed his company in their worst contractors list (http://patch.com/new-jersey/pointpleasant/njs-208-worst-contractors-who-may-have-ripped-you-2015-state-says). I should have checked this out before doing business with them.

    Luigi General Contractors

From day one Luigi was the ultimate professional. He walked us through the various options, secured all necessary permits, and began work immediately. He and his team showed up on time everyday, were very respectful, and left the property clean at the end of every workday. We were very impressed with Luigi's knowledge of the industry. He explained everything he did in full detail and made sure we understood the differences between good and bad quality work.  Luigi does good quality work, he has a good quality team, and he charges good quality prices. He has transformed our property into a backyard oasis that we will enjoy for years to come! We would definitely use him again and recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable quality contractor. He is a part of the family now!

    A Debenedetto Construction LLC
It was an outstanding experience interacting with Antonio and have his company perform work for us. I had a number of other contractors come in to suggest a more complex solution for more money (basically suggesting that I first open up my house to more water just so they can add a sump pump to get it out). Antonio had suggested a much more practical route, keeping my wall intact and adding layers of protection against the water. His price was quite reasonable, his team arrived on time and did a professional job, clean-up afterwards was excellent and he had kept me well-informed throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend him for any type of masonry work !
