  • Juan and his team were amazing. They worked with my husband and me to fit a very tight schedule, were professional, did excellent work, and were incredibly nice to boot. Juan carefully laid out the specifics of the work he was going to do and he cheerfully adjusted as we made changes. His prices were in line with others, and his attention to detail and willingness to work with the customer was a real plus. When you live in a house for a long time, you don't necessarily see everything that needs to be done. His suggestions were great, ie., taking down the basketball net over the garage, which had been here since we moved in. I could not recommend Juan and his team any more highly. You will love your decision to contract with him!!

  • This is my third job with Dr. DeBenedetto. He schedules appointments promptly, explains the work, answers questions and is professional in his dealings. All work is done with care and craftsmanship. I highly recommend this business and will work with them again.

  • Most horrific experience with a contractor. One of Jack Williams' guys rebuilt the top of chimney and did a great job until the exterior aesthetics had to be done (mortar coloring, pots and caps), which was an aggravating and dragged out experience. During the job, Jack started going through a divorce and other personal matters which sent him into a downward spiral. There were continual delays and no-shows (while scaffolding was still up in front of house and entire patio was left torn up for over a month with no workers on site) and prodding him to finish the job and clean up was like trying to thread an elephant through a needle. The replacement of patio flagstone and job completion ended up being rushed and crappy - mortar between flagstones on patio has broken up in alot of places and I now have to redo alot of the work only 2 years after his work. Entire job was supposed to take 3 weeks but took 5 months. Out of maybe 20 visits to the house by his workers, he showed up maybe 3 times (4 times including quoting me the job and on a couple of other critical/emergency times after I badgered him to come, each time finally making it after 3-4 no-shows). He had no admin assistant and the only way to reach him or the company was on his cell. Getting him to finish and working with him through selection and acquisition of new chimney pots/caps required literally thousands of emails, texts and calls over a 3 month period and he had to have his workers re-measure the chimney for pot fitting 4 or 5 times. I believe he ran out of money to pay his people and his business may have gone bankrupt. Instead of acquiring and billing me for the pots and caps, I had to order them myself on my credit card because Jack's company ran out of money to front the cash and probably ran out of credit with the supplier. The coloring of the mortar on top of chimney worked but was a super sloppy job that left colored "mud" all over the bricks - for 2 years after the job (until the rains finally washed it off), the top of the chimney looked like a giant mud pile. His team was very good with brick, but not much else. My quality rating is a "C", which is an average of "A" for the chimney brick work, caps and pots, but an "F" for patio and other stone and mortar work. While he claimed to be an expert on stones (as a mason should be) and said he would replace a broken chimney stone, one of his guys replaced it with the wrong type of stone, even after I showed Jack that I already had a pile of extras of the right type of stone right in my shed (which he never used - forgot to tell his guys or something). Apparently he's back in business, working alot from the Jersey shore and probably rarely makes it up to whatever job he might have in the Essex/Union county area.

  • I am EXTREMELY satisfied with the service I received from American Home Remodeling! They are professional, friendly, and reasonably priced. I dealt with George, and he was such a pleasure. He was attentive to my needs and very responsive. My home looks 100 times better than before. My husband and I have received so many compliments from strangers driving down our street. My mom used them approximately 4 years ago and received the same professional service we did.

  • We've used Mr. Handyman many times and have been very satisfied. This time was no exception. Several miscellaneous project. The handyman showed up on time, worked diligently, and checked everything off the list.

  • They are just great! I bought one of their deals on Anjies list and they reached out to me almost immediately. Vic the project manager set time to meet with me and followed up with telephone calls and text messages regularly to report progress. The job was perfectly done and all agreed timeline were met. I couldn't be happier.

  • The house looks beautiful now. CertaPro Painters of Livingston did a great job! Juan, Gina, Cesar and crew responded to any concern I had. Cesar and his crew worked fast and minimized the disruptions such a big job can create. They also were extremely polite, courteous and clean. The price was competitive. I would highly recommend CertaPro Painters of Livingston!

  • My problem was more with the structure of the deal than with the service. The enticing price was for a superficial furnace job. Perhaps I should have recognized this, but the itemized list of tasks is designed to look impressive even if there isn't much to it. Basically this was a sell-up: check and superficial cleaning for $50; real job for $150. In fairness, the latter is what I habitually pay, and $50 is I guess too low for an "honest" discount, but I did not feel like engaging a plumber I didn't know sight-unseen for the bigger job on the basis of this sell-up. I did let the plumber sell me a copper connecting cable with installation for an extra $60. Again in fairness, it did take him some time to install. Because "hire again" is a yes/no question, I gave this person/service the benefit of the doubt. I assume he did what was described adequately, but there's no way to verify that. In future I"m going to use Angie's List to check ratings/reviews only. This is the second "deal" I've taken that was kind of a bait-and-switch, selling a service inadequate to the purpose. The other was for a window energy check and caulking that was nothing but a get-in-the-door for a hard sell for window replacement.

  • We were specifically looking for an EPA-certified, lead-safe contractor to remove old lead paint from our house and repaint it. We asked for Franklin Painting's lead certification at the start of the job, which they emailed to us. The workers, however, left paint chips around our house and throughout our yard. They were not working in a way you would expect lead certified contractors to work, especially with clean-up at the end of each day. On the last day, as we were paying for the work, the painter gave us his business card and it was for another painting company. Franklin Painting subbed the job out without us knowing. When we followed up by email to ask them about it, they did not respond. We requested to see the lead certification for the company that actually painted our house and, of course, they did not respond. We tried to do this the right way and ended up with a lead hazard, feeling duped by a deceptive company. I would recommend staying away from them. It's frustrating how few contractors take lead issues seriously. We're looking at how we can report them to the EPA.

  • Not Good - the two men who worked on my deck originally did one stain for the whole deck -- the problem was that 98% of the deck was old wood and two of the planks were the new wood. The new wood took the stain differently than the old wood. The men did nothing to age out the stain for the two new planks and left my deck with a glaring difference in color from the new wood to the old wood. It looked ridiculous and on top of it the stain was not even and you could see the lines from where they stopped and where they started up again. I had to bring the owner back and he wasn't apologetic he just said his men will come back to fix the problem. They had to come back 2x more to get the stain right. Finally once it was all done they put my deck furniture back on the deck and left footprints all over my deck. When I complained the office staff could care less and just told me to wash it off. Firstly the footprints were paint and not easily washed off and secondly why should I do it when their men left the prints. I left several messages for Wilbur but he never returned my call. I will never use them again. Terrible follow thru and with a staff of 68 Wilbur cannot manage his staff properly.
