They spent approximately 40 full days worth of work on our house and at the end of every day the work area, our yard, and our house was always clean and immaculate, while still making good progress. All construction boxes, trash, etc. was always removed and cleaned up before they left every day. They took extra effort to make this a positive experience for us and to make sure our house was livable during the renovation process.   • Ampere came recommended to us thru our landscaping contractor. Gene and Gary couldn't have made the experience more easier or stress-free. They explain everything to you in terminology you understand and scope out all options before recommending the best solution for your budget. Permit inspection was uneventful as soon as our township knew Ampere did the work. Prompt, courteous, CLEAN and called to ensure inspection went well. Came back when we thought there was a problem, diagnosed it as our air conditioning unit and was absolutely right - and charged us nothing for the diagnosis! Even replaced a switch for our air conditioning unit in our master electrical box to make sure it runs more efficiently - and again no charge!! Its hard to find trustworthy, top-notch, reasonably-priced electricians. Very happy we found Ampere!!

  • I am overall satisfied with the work except couple points.

    1) The installation dragged out longer than expected.  I signed purchase (not lease) contract in early December 2015 and was expecting it to be done in March.  Instead, it was done in the end of April.  I didn't receive any status updates unless when I inquired.  While I understand the permit process could be out of their control, better communication would had been helpful.

    2) The installers are not from George J Kellers & Sons.  The contracted the actual installation to someone else.  I am neutral about their work.  I found nails on the driveway, and I said to the head person please be careful not to leave any nails since I have a baby running around outside.  I had to pick up more nails in the afternoon myself.  They were ok, not great, not bad.
    My dealings with GJK after installation has been smooth.  They scheduled inspection, and informed me when the meter will be replaced by the utility company.  GJK's meter (tied to the solar control panel) broke, and they promptly ordered a new one (although not yet arrived).  I rate them A overall.

  • Ryan and team were punctual, professional and polite.  His craftsmanship was great and he and his team were more than willing to take them time to explain to me what and why they were doing.  During the quote phase, he was helpful and patient understanding what it was exactly that I wanted to get done and doing it for as cheap as possible.

  • I first looked up Authorized Kohler Generator Service Agents. Bold Electic / Bold came up on Kohler's web site. Then I looked them up on Angie's list. I was impressed by the number of reviews and what people had to say about Bold.
    I also read their web site, and they seemed to offer all the services I required and wanted, including a Service Plan for my generator.
    I received the error code from my generator on Sunday, and I called and emailed them. I received a response from their Operations Manager in under an hour on Sunday evening, which I was very impressed with.
    I told him my issue and he told me what time in the morning would be a good time to call. (I wasn't a Service Contract subscriber yet, but I was interested in becoming one, which I am today!).
    Javier called me first thing Monday morning and had their lead generator tech Tom come out for a late Monday morning appointment. Again I was very impressed with the speed at which I was able to get an appointment.
    As I'm interested in tech and machinery, I watched Tom and his assistant, troubleshoot my generator, and Tom was able to pinpoint the issue very quickly.
    If you ever seen the inside of a whole house standby generator, you know they are basically Car Engines with huge Alternators and advanced Microcontrollers and high voltage, high current automated switching circuits.
    I also had Tom perform standard maintenance of changing out the oil, and oil filter, etc.
    I also decided to have the Battery replaced and a battery warmer installed.
    The other big item was the installation of the Kohler, OnCue system, which links my generator to my home network. Tom and George ran CAT 5 from the generator to my rack mounted router (we have a large home network).
    I sign up for their Platinum Service Contract for my Generator. After working with Javier, Tom, and George, I have a lot of faith in the company, that I found the right people to maintain my generator. My biggest concern is that the generator would be out when my family really needs it, in say another prolonged blackout like we had in Sandy. I can't imagine the frustration of having a whole house standby generator like the one we have and it not working during a long blackout. That's why I think a service contract with a company that stocks motor oil, filters, and other parts and has a large enough team to dispatch is very important.
    A generator is not an appliance it's a complex machine, and you need a company like Bold Electric to maintain that machine. Otherwise you only have half a solution.
    I am extremely happy I contact Bold and look forward to their monitoring and servicing my generator.
    Based on the quality of their work on the generator and the speed at which they were able to give me an appointment, I plan on using them for other electrical work I have around the house in the future.
    Note that the cost of the service includes the annual service contract fee for the Platinum Plan, and the installation of the OnCue system. The actual repair work was covered under Kohler's Warranty.
    Note to Kohler Generator Owners: Remember to use an Authorized Dealer from Kohler on your Kohler generators, Bold Electric is one of them, but check Kohler's web site for a list of dealers in your area. They give a 5 year warranty on their generators and it's very good, but you don't want an unauthorized tech working on your generator potentially voiding the warranty.
    As a side note, and I won't mention the name of the company that did the original install of my generator. They also are Kohler Authorized dealers of course. And I was very happy with the original install, but I can tell you that I agree with other reviewers, that particular company, while good, does have some scheduling problems. When I call for service on my generator, I expect same or next day service at the least. It's an expensive investment for your home and the entire point of it, is to ensure you always have power. If it's not working and needs service and you can't get someone out to your house right away, what's the point of having it?
