He came back 4 times. He said I needed a new ice maker, but couldn't connect it to my refrigerator electrically without splicing the old wires with the new. I called Whirlpool, and they thought it needed a new water inlet valve. He changed the valve, but the ice maker still didn't work right. He did give me some money back because the valve was less expensive. He was pleasant and tried, but I'll be buying a new refrigerator.

The Gas Line to the pool heater, was expensive, but all in all they did a good job. The guys were punctual and neat. Everything was professionally done and looks good and seems to be working properly (it was installed this winter, so i haven't kicked on the heater yet other than to test it). When they initially hooked up the pool heater gas line, it wasn't working properly, so i called PSE&G and they came out and fixed the issue that pipe works said they couldn't fix. Not sure this was something they could have diagnosed and fixed, but giving them the benefit of the doubt, they did a good job running and installing the line. Although, I do have rust all over the black pipe they ran, which they said they would paint to avoid from happening. They did spray it with Black paint, but obviously something cheap that looks good day one only. The bigger problem i have with this company and why such a bad review, was when i recently called them back to hook up my BBQ to the gas line that was previously ran. The price quoted was threw the roof. Mind you, the gas line is there, the bbq and side burner are also installed. The gas line is sitting directly below the built in grill. Again, the tech shows up, looks at the job, asks a few questions and says he needs to call in to get me pricing. $916!!!! This is after he tells me it is maybe a 2 hour job, the BBQ comes with the regulator and most of the other parts, so besides some flex pipe and shut off valve, i have everything already. After telling him, are you crazy, he calls office and they lower it $200. That quick. Again, at that point still not worth $700, i told him thanks, but no thanks. With less than $100 in material, they are looking to charge $300 per hour, not to mention initially charging $400 per hour. On top of already using them on a $3,000 plus gas line for the pool job. Really? What kind of business are they running. Besides the pricing is way over the top, they dropped it $200, meaning, lets just see how much this schmuck will pay. Another case of a contractor looking to charge Sky High Prices because you have nice things... BTW - Found a plumber to install it for $250 plus $100 for material!!!!

We're relatively new to the area and they are Jenn-Aire warranty providers. This is our first appliance repair work we've needed because the house and appliances are only 2-3 years old. But our dishwasher was leaking, so Jenn-aire gave us their number as a warranty servicer in our area.
When I called, I was told it would be $65 to diagnose the problem and then the technician would tell me how much it would be to fix it and how much parts/labor would be based on if the particular parts were still covered by the limited warranty on my 2 year old unit.
The technician came and pulled the dishwasher out. 10 minutes later, he found the problem; it was a hose that had gotten loose/fallen off because of the cheap one time clamp that Jenn-aire puts on the units. So, he zipped tied it and now it doesn't leak. So, I think great, $65 fix. NOPE! He charged me an extra $60 labor for putting one zip tie on that costs a nickel at Lowe's and didn't bother to tell me he was going to be charging me more until he writes up the bill.
So instead of $65, the bill is $135 including the tax. I asked him about the $60 labor charge and he said, that's how we do it. If he told me he was going to charge me $60 for reconnecting a hose with a zip tie, I would have told him not to do it.. But it was already done and I wasn't going to have him pull out the dishwasher to remove the zip tie.
I don't plan on using them again. I assume that if I had them come and diagnose something that wasn't working and found it was just unplugged, then they would try and charge $60 labor for plugging it back in.
Jenn-aire gave me three possible contacts for the warranty diagnosis. I regret not going with one of the other two. I'm just lucky this was a simple fix and not something major.
    F for Overall
    F for Price
D for Quality (for $60 at least put in a hose clamp instead of a zip tie)
B for Responsiveness (They came when they said and the lady in the office did try to help me check some stuff on the phone)
B for Punctuality (3 hour appt window and they came inside it. Tighter window and/or call/text on the way would be an "A")
F for Professionalism (padding your bill, not introducing yourself and not offering to take off your shoes or use booties)

After finding Mr. Handyman on Angie?s list, I?ve completed 4 projects with them. I started with a pretty major repair to some damaged outside wood that had to be repaired before the Winter. That went very well, so I created a long list of items I hadn't been able to get to.  They came back and professionally and expeditiously knocked off several challenges ? refinishing some damaged stairs, bathroom drywall repair, replacement of two complex windows, etc.
My most recent job with them was a very big one. Half of my basement was damaged by water in Hurricane Sandy and I had been waiting to repair it because I wanted to gut the whole thing and rebuild it from the walls in. The job involved removing a bunch of paneling down to the cinder blocks, removing a hanging ceiling, adjusting a laundry area to a smaller footprint, moving ducts and pipes to accommodate the new design, putting in sheet rock walls and ceiling, installing new lights and breakers, redoing the floor, and a myriad of other details plus painting. It was a big job I had quoted with contractors before, but hadn?t gotten around doing.
As I said I had A+ experience with Mr. Handyman, but I was worried that this job was a much bigger job than typical. I?m happy to say the job was very smooth, of high quality, and exceeded my expectations. Bruce meticulously quoted the job and the specs. Paul - the lead tech - along with Bruce and the crew, came up with creative ideas to accommodate some access panels, relocate some ducts and pipes, and solve a tricky lighting problem. The job was quoted at 8 days and came in at 8 days. There was very good communication and no surprises. A final punch list of nit picking details was handled smoothly. I recommend them without reservation.

I called to ask for an appointment to unclog my drain tube and she was able to fit me in as Ernesto's last appointment TODAY, instead of making me wait for the next available appointment, which was 2 days away! He came within 2 hours, was courteous, very pleasant, clean, and efficiently removed all the drawers, cleaned up the water, cleaned out the tube, replaced everything, got on a stool, cleaned out the filter...all very quickly and thoroughly at a reasonable price! I would DEFINITELY hire them again and recommend them!

I was truly impressed with the work done by John from Mr. Handyman. The provider charges by the hour so I was concerned that this work would turn into a costly affair. It did not, John worked efficiently, professionally and when he left it looked like the mailbox and post had been there for years. I would definitely recommend John of Mr Handyman to friends and family.

He diagnosed the problem of why the refrigerator was not cooling properly. To fix the problem would have cost almost as much as the refrigerator since the whole evaporator needed to be replaced as well as the motherboard.  He was very honest and nice guy, and only charged me for the service call.  As a temporary fix he added the freon but did not charge me the $100 for it since he said it would not work because the motherboard was also broken.  He came within the hour after I had called even though it was the evening.  Refreshing to find an honest businessman like him these days.

I apologize I "thought" I had written this up back in Feb but my attempt for some reason did not go thru. Btm line  ( I called 24 hours before) on a Friday  with a non emergency situaton  but Ernesto came out on a Sat  and fixed the problem immediately.
My fridge was simply NOT getting cold enough?
He quickly determined that only the freezer needed free-on gas .He then did a full diagnostic test and announced everything else was in perfect order. I was thrilled .The fridge is 12 years old and clearly Ernesto could have manufactured a variety of other problems and charged me afew hundred $)  But instead he was a man of integrity and a true professional He charged me a fair amount and not a penny more?

Would I recommend him again? Yes in a heart beat!

I called this co on Fri afternoon hoping to set up an appointment for the following week.  I was advised that someone would be out the next day between 11-1  Sure enough at 1.10  PM Ernesto showed up and immediately identified the problem My fridge sitting in the garage was fine but the freezer was behaving more like a glorified fridge and definitely not cold enough!.. Ernesto opened it up and quickly realized it was low on freeon gas. He filled it up cleaned out the fan, made a few checks to insure that was the only problem and he was done. The fee was exactly whatI was quoted with a discount from Angie's list.  I was delighted with Ernesto's professionalism, punctuality and his overall knowledge. I asked him several questions about my particular brand etc (Kenmore)YES  I would definitely recommend his services to anyone who needs a fridge repair. Not only did he do everything I wanted but showed up on time as well. Hats off to this company!

    Thank you
