    Mr Handyman
Kassi scheduled our work very promptly and another staff member followed up on the details. Everything went smoothly on the day, and took less time than I expected. John was friendly and efficient -- taking care of business in short order. Replacing the light fixtures by our front door was a little tricky re: the cedar siding, but he effortlessly adapted the installation to the situation. Perfect! The old wooden post mailbox was rotted and barely standing...he took it all away, dug a deep new hole and installed the steel post, using quick setting concrete, and fitted the new mailbox. He even scalped some sod to leave on top... When John was finished, you would have thought the mailbox had always been there. I plan on calling on Mr. Handyman, and John, in the future.

G Greenwald Carpentry and General Contractor
Gary and Rochelle arrived at 8am as promised and both men worked for 7 hours straight. They solved tricky problems with skill, patience, and good humor. A significant list of assorted jobs was utterly annihilated with such efficiency I almost could not keep up with them. They did things properly from the start -- no short cuts. Helpful advice was provided as well, on a number of household concerns.

Mr. Handyman of S. Orange/Westfield/Scotch Plains & Metuchen
The job went excellently. Scheduling was easily done by phone; had to wait about 1.5 weeks to find an open appointment slot, but the handyman (John) arrived precisely on time at the beginning of the estimated time range. John was professional and friendly throughout his time in my home, discussed all of the work upfront, including which jobs he believed were worth hiring a handyman to fix and which would be sufficiently time-consuming that it would probably be more cost-effective to just replace what was broken (blinds). He quickly and successfully fixed most of the issues we agreed for him to work on (drywall repair, weeds under closed deck, unsticking a window), then continued trying to fix a broken window lock for which I did not have a replacement on hand even after it was evident it was not fixable without a new lock. Mr. Handyman charges a flat rate for the first hour, then charges partial hours at a lower rate every 15 minutes; since I'd be charged the full one hour regardless of how much time it took, John continued seeing what could be done until the hour was up even though it seemed unlikely to get results, but since it was worth trying anyway since I was already paying for the time. Overall, I was extremely pleased with John's work, professionalism, and honesty, and Mr. Handyman of S. Orange, Westfield, and Scotch Plains will be at the top of my list for any future handyman services I may need.

The water proofing company greatly appreciated our preparation in the cellar so they could get right to work on the project. John arrived promptly both times & made sure we were satisfied with his work. He charged us a flat fee for both visits & there were no surprises with the service or bill.

I had really high hopes for this company since I did my homework and combed through most of the reviews on here. The outcome was incredibly disappointing and I would like to straight-out suggest anyone reading this to look elsewhere for their repairs. On the first visit, Juan came to our house for an estimate. I appreciated the quick turnaround from our first phone call, but that was honestly the extent of my positive experience with him and his team. Once he looked at our bathrooms, which had mild water leakage, he said we would need to hire him and his team of three for an entire day. Though a little pricey, he suggested we get the Angie's List special of $900 for this. We eagerly took the offer since we wanted to get our bathrooms taken care of quickly. However, I would like to point out there was no special when we checked the site after he left. Come repair day, we agreed to have the guys arrive at 9 am. We made a lot of arrangements to have them come in that morning. However, they ended up arriving around 2 pm. How awful is this? My stepfather was at home all morning waiting for them. Each time we called Juan to ask where he was, he would say he was coming. Up to a certain point, we were fairly certain he bailed. Though that was fortunately not the case, this shows an utter lack of professionalism and regard for your clients. I was appalled. I will say I appreciated how respectful they were when we asked them to take their shoes off while working inside the house. After a few hours passed, I came into my bathroom to check on the progress of the dry wall replacement. I am not exaggerating when I say this, but it was comparable to the work of a 10 year old. It was bumpy and sloped and resembled Playdoh. Apparently the guys didn't sand the wall at all. We asked them to fix it. After they fixed it, it was much smoother. The paint job was horrible though. It got all over my crown molding which I ended up repainting. There were also small pieces of hair stuck to the wall, since it wasn't properly cleaned before painting. The caulking was also poorly done as it remained soft for weeks. I have too replaced this. After a few hours passed. the guys were nearly done with the job. For whatever reason, they informed us they would be returning later in the week to complete one of the bathrooms. My family and I were all very surprised to hear this because it was obvious they could have finished it. I believe they were rushing to get out and pick up a second job since Juan was constantly on the phone and the guys kept watching the clock -- even commenting on rushing out to beat the traffic. Funny that as soon as my mom said she would only compensate them in the amount that was commensurate to the work they had done ($500), they offered to bring in a hand-held heater and finish the job that day. This bothered me since the price we were given was for a whole day's work and they tried to get out early and come back (never mind our inconvenience of course). We did not want the guys to come a second day and risk messing with everyone's schedule again. In the end, Juan gave us a $100 discount for arriving late. $800 is still absurdly high for a dry wall replacement and recaulking when you consider the lack of craftsmanship that was involved. If we had more options we would have likely used someone else. I will definitely not be recommending anyone to this company.

    Ebanks Enterprises
I meant to write this review a while ago, but I wanted to make sure I did since the work was exceptional. I had hired another contractor to remodel one of my bathrooms, but like the stories that many people have experienced, that contractor did not end up finishing the job. Laz came in, was professional and was always on time. He provided me a fair quote and got the job done. He always came by to check on the workers, made sure things were being done right, inspected the work closely and if something wasn't right, he pointed it out and made sure it was corrected. Even as the work went on, I had some other things I needed to have done in the house, some siding replaced, staining the front door. Everything came out great, and the bathroom was finished and is amazing. I would absolutely use Ebanks again, since when you do find someone reliable and the work is good, you don't need to continue to search.

    Sorensen Home Improvement
a He did most of the work himself. He did electrical work, painting, sheet rocking, installing lights, installed toilets, installed shower doors, installed wood doors. ripped up rotted wood floors. At times he would bring a helper but this was rare. I now have three lovely bathrooms that I receive compliments on. Ben also installed a Jacuzzi bath tub. He also put in wood framing around my steps. He pulled up my rug so I could have wooden steps put in. Ben Sorensen's work is awesome . He is also a very diligent worker and has a pleasant personality.

Although they came a little late, the two person crew was very professional and took every effort to do the job right. They even helped me get the couch into the room so they could put the frame back on the door.

Juan was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Always responsive and very reliable.  Juan was always there to ensure that things were going well.  His workers were top notch, and went out of their way to ensure that all the little details were to our absolute liking (the best example, the new light fixture  was off centered from the vanity by about a half an inch, and although it wasn't an easy adjustment due to the way the light was made, they did it without any hesitation in order to make sure we were happy!)   They kept the place clean during construction and always cleaned up after.  The work came out beautiful and we really couldn't ask for a better experience.

    House Doctors Handyman

What I most liked about the technician sent to my home was his willingness to suggest addition fixes to my gutters, which were done within the time frame agreed upon.  He also answered questions related to another matter and regarding a service not provided by House Doctors.  I would certainly seek out Hour Doctors again if the need arose.  Professional and reasonable.
